Madison's Vicki McKenna has a run-in with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib — over the meaning of a wink.

Listen to McKenna's radio show today: "Ms. McKenna goes to Washington."

ADDED: If that link to the radio show doesn't work for you, you can go here (later).

And here's the coverage at Reason: "Witness Says Vaping Helped Her Quit Smoking. Rashida Tlaib Asks 'Are You a Conspiracy Theorist?'/'Vaping is a health miracle to me,' said ex-smoker Vicki Porter [AKA McKenna]. 'Not safe, but less harmful.'"

Well somebody is a conspiracy theorist in that room.

Tlaib (D-PLO) calls a witness a conspiracy theorist, then accuses her of being part of a conspiracy in just over one minute.

The legitimate e-cigarettes offered by Juul and others are perfectly safe. The problem is homebrew and black market vaping products. So the current conventional wisdom is vaping bad, smoke tobacco cigarettes if you must. Meanwhile the same conventional wisdom says smoking marijuana is OK, maybe even great.

The good news is that Trump is going to save us all from vaping.

What don't they think of as conspiracy, other than the LIES they have been spewing for the last 4 years about our President???

Talib: Juul!?! I thought it was Juuw. Nevermind.

Tlaib (D-SCIENCE) says second hand smoking is worse than directly smoking a cigarette.

I honestly do not understand why people who use vaping to quit cigarettes then never seem to quit vaping.

They need to decide whether they want us to believe it is a smoking cessation tool by fully quitting or honestly call it harm reduction as they aren't quitting the 'inhaling chemicals addiction

Vicki McKenna, gag me.Do people actually listen to her? I don't know, people still listen to Rush, that completely baffles me.

Tlaib sounds like a dangerous politician. Only "her truth" matters.

Inga thinks that the wink is some sort of signal, not just one of recognition. Maybe like an "OK" sign for White Supremacy?

These people are doubling down on delusional because they hurt will be put on them soon.

Like I said, "progressive Democrats" are really projectionist Democrats.

Why do they need to?

With this vaping outrage I feel like we have really wandered into crazy town.

When did we start banning adult products because we think teens like them?
When did we start banning legally made products because someone used an altered, illegal version and got sick?

This especially seems like crazy town because it's happening at the same time people are pushing full speed ahead on legalizing pot and all its many forms of use.

Who's worse, Tlaib, or the people who voted for her? The latter are at least as bad.

Sorry, you're wrong. She's very cool. I like her.

I used a primitive version of these years ago to quit smoking. Worked on the second try, I've been smoke free for over 20 years. Still like the smell, and can hang out with a group of smokers and not have any interest in asking for a cigarette. Probably has saved our family over $20K in real dollars (I quit when I could get knock off generics for $1.25 at Sheets- Jack's I believe they were called). This attack on vaping will simply mean that thousands will die from lung cancer, rather than using a far better alternative which only introduces nicotine and water vapor. Also, don't buy home produced stuff that includes cannabis oil, which seems to be the real problem.

After 20-some years and numerous attempts, I quit smoking tobacco (Camel straights, then Indian tobacco) about 4 years ago by "vaping" nicotine. Now I don't do either.

These leftist puritans should mind their own damned business, and Islam(ists) in general should be prosecuted under RICO.

Not safe, but less harmful.

Whats business is it of yours, whoever said that?

Vaporgate I. An insight into the "mind" of Congress and its Vaporpersons as they meet and maybe will impeach or maybe not. It's wispy.

What was Vaporgate I
Vicki McKenna Porter, was testifying at a Congressional hearing, pointing out that "regular" vaping (with nicotine) can help tobacco addicts give up cigarettes whose tobacco smoke contains known carcinogens. Therefore vaping can be good. Other witnesses were saying that vaping with THC is becoming common in the high schools and has caused death in several high school students in Wisconsin as well as being addictive. Therefore vaping can be bad. But Vaporperson Rashida Tlaib was not there in Congress to weigh these competing public health issues. No, a conservative was in front of Rashida Tlaib, a whole public health issue in itself. To accuse, smear, denounce - yes this must happen. Now Tlaib didn't have much but Dems are used to that. Vaporgate was on. Vicki was a fallen Marxist, Vicki was a conservative, Vicki winked at another conservative. Tlaib didn't have much but Dems are used to that. Tlaib saw at once the inner meaning of these dire events - conspiracy. Yes, this Vaporperson actually asked whether that wink by a conservative indicated "a conspiracy." The committee chairman, knowing this particular Congressional Vaporperson well, moved swiftly on and away. That's Vaporgate. That's your lefty Vaporperson at work.

Next, Vaporgate II. Messing with Trump. I hear he's going to send Corey Lewandowski with messages. Or maybe it will all evaporate.

Fernandistein, I know exactly what you mean. There were weekends when my wife was away that I could go through 2 packs of unfiltered Camels a day. I was very young when my father would give me a couple of quarters to go up the street to buy him a pack of 'Old Gold'. First cigarettes I smoked, probably when I was about 11 or so. Although, as a history nerd, my smoking saved me in High School. My after lunch bathroom smoking group were all a bunch of hooligans, but they liked me for some reason, probably because I was always willing to give out smokes. They made sure nobody messed with me, and while I was a fairly OK 150 lb. wrestler, I think the hooligans were more influential to the student body.

Fernandinande said...

Why do they need to? [quit vaping tobacco]

1: It's a ripoff. You used to be able to buy literally gallons of more-or-less pure nicotine for a pittance, for use as a bug spray, now the same amount of nicotine costs a kings ransom for the "drug delivery system" rather than a simple drop or two of nicotine bug-spray on your scrotum.

2: It's a ripoff. The batteries and cartridges from difference companies are incompatible with each other. If possible, get a 410 battery. Better ones are $10 ("Craft"), rather than $40, with a USB charging cord that connects to the end opposite the cartridge; don't get the batteries that the charger screws into the cartridge end, like the one in the picture.

@todd galle

I high-school I smoked some Marlboro reds and drank Colt 45 in the desert with the local hooligans (slogan:"No hope with dope!") and like I said: "Best buzz evar", just like that song says. But my friends were mostly upstanding lads and I quit due to peer pressure until I was about 20 or so and was dating a smoker woman with nice large breasts.

I tried all the non-filter cigs but Camels were they best (about $10 a pack, now! yikes), then I ordered tobacco from some Indian tribe but Obamasshole shut them down, then I bought Bugler. Then I vaped. Then I quit. If it weren't for The Woman and the dogs I'd smoke Bugler again and be happy to die before they did.

Peace.

410 battery. Typo, Craft 510 battery, not 410.

@Titus: That's so unlike you. In a looks contest between two women, you picked the ugly one. Are you gay?

Ken B said...

A woman says she quit smoking. Someone, presumably a member of Congress, shouts that she is lying under oath. Titus concludes the woman is awful.

Ken B said...

Her truth is different from the truth of most people in the room? Perhaps the truth varies sinusoidally as you move about the chamber. And it’s Democrats who pose as the party of science.

A woman testifies. Result: it is hinted she’s a nutter (conspiracy theorist), a perjurer — accused of lying about her own smoking by someone who has never met her, and asked leadingly about her politics.

Marc in Eugene said...

Camel non-filters for many years but for a couple of years I bought 'duty-free' Gauloises: then for some reason that stopped-- they were fairly inexpensive, too. Went back to Camels with the occasional packet of American Spirits. It'll be five years in May. I want one now but will probably not go out again in order to buy a packet. But I could.

As the saying goes,
ALL THE DEMOCRATS HAVE TO DO IS NOT BE CRAZY — AND THEY CAN'T EVEN DO THAT

But the really disturbing thing is; more than 40% of the country would vote for Tliab: For President.
Because 40% of the vote goes to Whatever the Democrats put up, crazy or not

Why do people have to justify their choice to you?

If I say I started copulating because I feared masturbation would make me go blind, would you ask why I haven’t quit screwing yet?
