At the No-Swimming Café...

... the sign says "no swimming," but you can perhaps find a way to swim metaphorically... as you talk about whatever you want.

Breast stroke , back stroke, side stroke are fine all the way across the lake. Just avoid the Australian crawl and the butterfly that will wear you out.

Opioids lead to constipation which sometimes proves fatal. Hey here is a great idea let's slow down our bowels so much that the shit won't move and just sits there day after day! - do you see the problem?

Every year of alcohol abuse subjects the liver and kidney to multiple years of normal wear and tear, a 40 year old alcoholic pretty much has the insides of an 80 year old.

Pot makes you boring and sometimes so boring that even really attractive pot smokers are unable to inspire communication and love in the people they want to love. And they make lousy parents even if they are just trying to be minimally decent parents, their selfish pot use makes it too hard. Sure their fucked-up intellectual jazz inspires the sort of people who like fucked-up intellectual jazz, but that is not much of a reward for the loss of being able to fully communicate in daily life with those you love.

Heroin and cocaine are just fucking evil and participating in that use renders you a supporter of evil.

Even aspirin is bad if overused.

Caffeine is ok in moderation, though.

My dad avoided diving in the local lakes in the summertime precisely because of the algae blooms and their limits on underwater visibility -- usually measured in feet. The best underwater visibility was in the dead of winter, under the ice, especially if there was no snow. He liked ice diving in Lake Monona over by where MG&E had at warm waste water outlet which kept a patch of water open year round.

Here's a cool old photo from those days in the mid-1960's

"Are crocodiles in Wisconsin? what is the danger?"

Due to global warming, crocodiles live all over Wisconsin. They love water - rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, even wet patches. All these water sources are abundant in Wisconsin (just look at past pictures by Althouse) and that is how we are garnering our crocodiles. There is no danger from them, our crocodiles are trained to be vegan. Hope this helps.

Without lies, what would Democrats have to say?

The government of Ukraine under both Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, and now President Volodymyr Zelensky, had been trying to deliver information about Obama officials and Democrat party officials (DNC on behalf of Hillary Clinton) requesting the government of Ukraine to interfere in the 2016 election.

Both Poroshenko and Zelensky administrations had tried, unsuccessfully, to get information to current U.S. officials. U.S. State Department officials in Ukraine were refusing to give visa’s to Ukrainian emissaries because they did not want the damaging information sent to the President Trump administration.

Failing to get help from the U.S. State Department, the Ukranians tried a workaround, and hired a respected U.S. lawyer to hand deliver the documentary evidence directly to the U.S. Department of Justice. The contracted American lawyer hand-delivered the information to the U.S. Department of Justice in New York.

However, after delivering the information and not hearing back from the U.S. government, the Ukrainian government, now led by President Zelensky, interpreted the silence as the Trump administration and U.S. government (writ large) being upset about the Ukraine involvement overall. Out of concern for a serious diplomatic breakdown, the Zelensky administration made a personal request to the U.S. State Department for assistance.

So much for the "Whistleblower" story.

Apparently in the phone call, President Zelensky was explaining what action the Ukranian government had already taken to try and get the information about corrupt U.S. officials, including former VP Joe Biden, to the U.S. government.

It was from this clarification of information that President Trump is reported to have told Zelensky it was OK to proceed with any internal investigation of corruption in Ukraine that might also encompass former U.S. officials. Yes, that would include Joe Biden.

2. Biden’s idiot coke head son gets millions from the Chinese and Ukraine for nothing and that’s not news? That money was a payoff to China Joe for past services.

Nope. Surrounded by thousands of giant crocs here in the Okavango Delta. Fresh water, with no physical connection to salt water either, it evaporates off 1000 kilometres to the east of the skeleton coast.

And no connection to salt at the origin, the Angolan highlands, either.

The Red Sox season is officially over, even though there are nine games still to play. This year's effort was quite uninspiring and pathetic. Essentially the same team that won 108 games and the World Series in 2018, will only win about 85 and has failed to qualify for the post season. Plenty of blame to go around but the manager has to take the lion's share; he's responsible for preparing and motivating the players. Oh well, can't win em all.

Meanwhile the Patriots have released Antonio Brown after just 12 days or so on the team. He has shown himself to be a bad guy and an idiot. Surprised they signed him at all given what's come out.

Of course, it’s rhetorical. Who is the more ignorant? Those who continue to believe in the global warming pushed by these elitists, or those who observe the actions of these elitists and not listen to their demands?

I didn’t consider it cladist at the time. I have always been more enthusiastic about costumes than is sometimes appropriate. I don’t know how many other times I have worn blue-greenface. Layers of privilege blinded me to the impact of my actions.

I would like to ask "the floor" a question that no doubt identifies me as an out-of-touch codger: I've noticed in sitcoms and other places that people often use the expression, "Yeah, you do" or "Yes, you do," often in a sexual situation. And I've noticed more and more people on tv using the expression, "Oh, HELL no!" Re the last one, "Hell, no" has been around for decades (as in the Vietniks "Hell, no, we won't go!") but this emphasis on the "hell" seems to be something new and trenfy. Are both these taken from pop songs or movies?
