A man in NY yesterday approached CNN's Chris Cuomo and called him "Fredo"— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) August 13, 2019
Cuomo: "You're going to have a problem"
Man: "What are you going to do about it?"
Cuomo: "I'll fuckin ruin your shit. I'll fucking throw you down these stairs"
Credit: "THAT'S THE POINT with Brandon" pic.twitter.com/4iWwzaSQpF
I've got to say — and I have only watched the clip and not read any of the commentary about it — I have no problem with what Cuomo did here. He returned words for words, he defended himself, and he acquired complete submission from the man who provoked him. Maybe some people think the guy who said "Fredo" won because he got his video and Cuomo lost his temper. But I don't think Cuomo is out of control. I think he knew what he was doing and chose to do it. It's quite similar to what Trump does, and I don't think Trump is raging and having melt downs when people who hate him are saying he is. Same thing with Cuomo.
“Don’t f–ing insult me like that,” the Queens native fumes. “You call me ‘Fredo’ it’s like I call you punk b–ch, you like that?”Oh, Queens! See? Like Trump. It's how they talk in Queens. Don't be prejudiced against the Queensman.
The little man who made the video asserts that he believed Cuomo's name actually was Fredo. Cuomo won't let him back down: "You did not think that… stand up like a man. Own what you said." Manhood is at stake. A hypothetical fight is discussed: "I’ll f–ing throw you down these stairs like a f–ing punk… you’re gonna call me Fredo, take a f–ing swing? I’ll f–ing wreck your shit."
Cuomo doesn't hit the guy. It's macho posturing. Notice the theory, propounded by Cuomo, that the guy is trying to get Cuomo to hit him so he can bring a lawsuit against the deep-pocketed son of a gov.

Althouse posted she agreed with both Trump and Cuomo when they did it.
She's simply questioning those who then criticized Cuomo, like me, as to what standard caused support of Trump and not Fredo.
Several people have weighed in with differences for us to consider.
I think that's fair, and I told her why I thought of them differently.
Shame on Matt Drudge for his bogus headline for this story: that Cuomo “Rages at MAGA” and “Goes Nuts.”
Matt was just talking about his regular musings on CNN...
I guess Fredo had to show he's no Fraido.
CNN will, undoubtedly, Dox those fools outside McConnell's home for unnecessary provocation..... right?
CNN would defend McConnell if he appeared on his porch and threatened the mob with injury..... right?
Expect a CNN editorial demanding an end to shouting at Republicans and their families in restaurants..... right?

Close one!
I beg to differ with Mr. Cuomo, there is no other name for any other people that is the equivalent of the N-word to blacks. At least, none that I can think of. Maybe kike? Mick, wop, wetback, raghead, are all insulting in their own way but do not carry and confer the level of hatred and vitriol of the n-word.
What adult gets that foaming at the mouth upset about an obvious provocation? Perhaps one that knows deep down that the insult fits.
"Fredo is gonna stick because Cuomo reacted so strongly to it."
Agreed. Plus it fits. Fredo Corleone was always a bit of a joke, because he was where he was because of his family. They always took care of him. He could posture as a tough guy because he always had family supplied muscle around to keep him safe. Fredo Cuomo is no different. His father and brother were/are the gov of NY, with national political aspirations. Fredo has a job with CNN because of them. With his mouth, he probably would have been punched out years ago - except that his family has always, effectively, protected and taken care of him.
Fredo he is now.
Love the entry at Ace of Spades: CNN Invents a New Fake Racial Slur With Which to Dox and Deplatform People: "Fredo," the Other Other "F-" Word, and esp the picture of Fredo Corleone on the CNN set.
“I've never heard Trump threaten anyone.”
“I’d like to punch him in the face”
Trump, Feb. 23, 2016
Big question: Will Fredo break his brother's heart and betray the Family?
"If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell ... I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise.”

She questioned me, specifically. She took issue with my characterization of Cuomo’s reaction and asked if I do the same for Trump. In my first response, I said, truthfully, that I did until I realized that what Trump was doing was calculated and effective. It only appeared to be unhinged. In a separate response, I said, also truthfully, that her question to me is whataboutism. Which is bullshit.
FrankM, neither of those is a threat.
I'm not buying the righteous anger crap coming from Hannity.
Yes, the guy was called Fredo in front of his family.
But why does he respond by using "fuck" in every other sentence---in front of his family?
"Do you ask the same question when Trump gives a hot response to an insult?"
Not at all analogous. First, Trump has been called far worse than "Fredo". He's been called every name invented, and a few new ones, not to mention having his likeness presented in numerous disgusting ways, and this has been done 24/7 for 3 years very publicly. Second, Trump never threatened anyone like that with physical violence, especially immediate and possible violence like that, which is an assault, and dangerously stupid. That's how people get stabbed or shot. It's the pedestrian version of road rage.
It does show weakness, and vulnerability, but not in a cute way like a helpless kitten, but more like a yapping Chihuahua.
It exposes Cuomo for exactly who he is: A hothead who can dish it out but can't take it.
It's perfect.

Trump, Feb. 1, 2016.
It’s inciting violence. Something he’s very good at.
Smart people who are armed with weapons or skills that can truly do damage know to deescalate that kind of bullshit before they are forced to use real violence, which can have terrible outcomes for the other guy as well as yourself. As Obama would say: "Cuomo acted stupidly", and he passed that stupidity on to his kids.
Seriously, if you watch real live deadly assaults, which I do all the time. That is exactly how people get killed for nothing. What if that guy pulled a gun? Cuomo was not that far from giving him the legal right to use it.
Will Fredo address this tonight?
I say yes.
He'll go one about how he is being slandered. N word stuff. All Italians are mobsters. Attack Limbaugh for giving him the nickname.
But he will apologize for the F word. And he was with his family! Victim!!!
What I want to know is if he was banging cocktail waitresses two at a time.
I wonder which Cuomo would choose, being called "Fredo" once in front of a handful of people or being called all the names he's applied to Trump for the last 3 years, in front of millions over and over.

Leave to Inga to compare two, completely different situations as if they're the same.
Cuomo was simply showing us how to LOVE.
Would Marianne approve?

It is racist to call Fredo, Fredo.
Trust me on this.
Chris cuomo has an amazing body.

It is not being serious. It is just pretending.
Google him shirtless. Perfection.
If Cuomo were a Fox News talking head, the other guy would be invited onto all the national TV morning shows and the hosts would be fawning over him and how big bad Cuomo had threatened him with bodily harm.
CNN's Chris Cuomo referred to himself as 'Fredo' in 2010 interview
'...Cuomo appeared on Curtis Sliwa's radio show in regards to whether or not his brother, Andrew Cuomo, planned to seek the Democratic nomination for governor.
“There is a group of people — politicos — who always hint they might run, but not necessarily plunge all the way, and they are members of la Cuomo," Sliwa said and dubbed the family "la Cuomo Nostra."
“Who am I, then, Fredo?” Cuomo asked in response.
“Yes, exactly,” Sliwa said. “So you better be careful that your brother Andrew doesn’t kiss you on both cheeks and then all of a sudden they take you out on the middle of the lake and where’s Chris?”'

LOL - Ann, find me a quote where Trump routinely uses the F-Bomb. Cuomo is scum, that's why he's on CNN, where drunk journalists like Lemon are tolerated.
Laslo, right on!!
So it turns out Cuomo called himself Fredo. But now it’s a horrible racist name. This Althouse is why he is mocked.
I agree with JPS at 11:11, and I've now heard a bit more of the exchange. Fredo's response was far from proportional. His words were the fighting words. And while CNN is protecting him; I don't think it would be appropriate for me to invoke my business in a personal matter like what occurred. Outside of that incident; there is now plenty of evidence being brought forward that Cuomo had no issue at all with the use of "fredo" in the past. So his call for civility is BS.
The rude young bullies shoul have kept with the movie theme and said, "lighten up Francis" then walked away.
I prefer to mock people with idiots from Faulkner novels. Nothing beats calling someone Ike or Issac around the barn or Benjie when they hit a ball in the rough.
"Ummmm, why do you watch deadly assaults all the time?"
1st, to learn very important lessons about human nature, which we are surrounded by both good and bad, and I have learned a lot. I have learned how evil some people are, how little they respect the rest of us, and what that allows them to do to innocent people, who being uninformed, never see it coming.
2nd, I've learned how to anticipate, avoid, and if necessary defend myself against them. Not only for my own safety, but for those I love.
That's why I watch them, and I think it's a damned good thing which everyone should do.
The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the Fredo.
Fredo Cuomo 2016:
CUOMO:
My guayabera? This shirt belonged to my father. It was given to him by Fidel Castro. It marked conversations going on decades ago that were the same as those today. The concern was the freedom of the people. What is the point of this communist regime if it is not to truly make everyone equal, not at the lowest level, not by demoralizing everyone, but lifting everyone up. My father, generations of politicians have been fighting this. So I wear this shirt as a reminder of that.
RUSH Limbaugh Today:
The guy doesn’t even know what communism is so we have to excuse me him for thinking that Fredo is a racial slur. But go to the Urban Dictionary. You can find the definition for Fredo in the Urban Dictionary. It basically means “dumb brother.” And it comes from The Godfather.
I realize this is a stretch, but I wonder if this wasn't a publicity stunt to boost Cuomo's ratings.
https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/july-2019-ratings-cnn-sees-noticeable-year-over-year-drop-off-but-remains-a-top-10-cable-network-in-total-day/409984/
So, I don't listen to Limbaugh. I don't really follow a lot of right wing commentators except occasionally Ace, because I like his weekend non-politics threads like chess, books and pets, and Instapundit. I'd totally forgotten that Ace called him Fredo too. I understood it to mean "the dumb/useless brother," and did not assume it had anything to do with race.
Cuomo is a confused communist. So awesome CNN employs communists.
I don't listen to Rush anymore. Lifted those finds from a insty.
Good find.

Shorter Cuomo - 'Ignore how Cuba turned out, it's the thought that counts.'
Sorry Ann, he made a threat. This is unambiguously illegal so far as I know of the law; but I guess I know less than a ... law professor? Retired no less but nevertheless.

Appreciate all the support but - truth is I should be better than the guys baiting me. This happens all the time these days. Often in front of my family. But there is a lesson: no need to add to the ugliness; I should be better than what I oppose.
As if CNN needs more aggravation:
A man is suing Don Lemon, claiming the CNN host attacked him at a Hamptons bar last summer. The suit, obtained by Mediaite, was filed Sunday and seeks unspecified damages for “emotional pain and suffering.”
“The plaintiff in this lawsuit has previously displayed a pattern of contempt for CNN on his social media accounts,” a CNN spokesperson told Mediaite in a statement. “This claim follows his unsuccessful threats and demands for an exorbitant amount of money from Don Lemon. Don categorically denies these claims and this matter does not merit any further comment at this time.”
Dustin Hice claims that Lemon attacked him at Sag Harbor dive bar Murf’s in July 2018. Hice, who was working as a bartender at another Hamptons watering hole at the time, said he approached Lemon at the bar one night after recognizing him. Hice “tried to get Mr. Lemon’s attention and offered to buy Mr. Lemon a drink,” the suit claims. The CNN host declined, stating he was “just trying to have a good time.”
Later in the night, the suit says, Lemon approached Hice.....and then...

If anyone thought #StrongCNNDefender LLR Chuck wouldnt immediately and passionately rise to the defense of Fredo Cuomo, well, now you know better.
One can only imagine the immense joy and excitement Chuck felt vicariously thru these obvious and over the top threats of physical violence directed towards a Trump supporter who dared to call out one of Chuck's beloved far left MSM-ers.
Fre D'oh !!
On top of Don Le-Mon being accused of sexually assaulting some guy, this has not been a week where LLR Chuck's CNN heroes have acquitted themselves very well.
I would strongly recommend LLR Chuck keep his powder dry on these events as he will certainly need it later on when his dem allies need his support even more.
Epstein was Fredo this week
On top of Don Le-Mon being accused of sexually assaulting some guy,
That didn't make sense at first. Lemon is transgender.
Fredo is a term of diversity? Northern, Southern, Hispanic, African White?
Trump tweets:
Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!

It should be remembered that LLR Chuck-approved Fredo Cuomo is a big big backer and apologist for antifa.
Sean Hannity is a big backer of the Proud Boiz, whom are mad macho sobre Los Antiflas
Now we know that Cuomo is aware that Rush calls him Fredo and it’s obviously bugged him for years. Rush lives rent free in old Fredos head. That’s pretty funny.
*Snert*
Apparently Cuomo's never heard of the "Streisand Effect".
As an Italian-American I have to call bullshit on Fredo & CNN. The East Coast racial slur that was equivalent to the n-word was "Wop".
The Southern Italian dialectal term guappo, roughly meaning "dandy", "dude", or "stud" and is often been used in the Naples area as a friendly or humorous term of address among men, especially older to younger men.
As these immigrants worked in construction and at manual labor their American employers and fellow laborers took notice of the Italians' playful term of address and eventually began deploying it as a pejorative slur for all Italians.
One would think that Cuomo would know this as it is still a fighting word in some parts of NY & NJ.
(eaglebeak)
Did you ever hear Trump threaten to push someone downstairs and "ruin their shit"?
I'm betting no.
Trump is funny.
Cuomo is just, uh, Fredo.
Trump would be much more likely to say "get lost."

Trump wins again
Howard: "Sean Hannity is a big backer of the Proud Boiz, whom are mad macho sobre Los Antiflas"

Number of Proud Boys armed attacks on federal facilities: 0
Number of Proud Boy bike lock attacks on bystanders: 0
Number of Proud Boy attacks against journalists: 0
Yep, I can see why you dont like them Howard.
Its perfectly clear.
'Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon.'
And thus ends the Red Flag discussion. Gotta love it!!
The Proud Boys wave lots of American flags when standing up to the marxist antifas.
Very triggering for Howard.
I cant really blame Howard for being so upset these days.
Stacey Abrahms losing the GA Gov race due ONLY to racism and russian bots was a blow to the dems.
Cuomo is another idiot who compares Antifa fascists, (who beat those who film their beat-downs of innocent by-standers), to the Americans who stormed the beaches of Normandy.
That's like saying you are proud of Hilter for storming the beaches of Normandy.
Insanity.
I must say, Chris Cuomo is a very articulate person. /s
It was just mutual trash-talking, until the threat to throw the other guy down the stairs.
That’s a threat of violence, and it comes across as unhinged,. That’s when Fredo Cuomo lost whatever high ground he might have had,
I bet it broke Andrew’s heart.
MacMacConnel: "With children around a better response is to just smile and ignore. It's a good teaching moment for the children."
That is what I did when a momma bear decided her two cubs were getting to close to us hikers, and charged down a hillside towards me and my daughter. All I had to do was stay between the bear and my daughter, and nothing else mattered. What I was ignoring was how little I could do to stop the bear if she kept charging.
Cuomo is a horrible politician. But he is also a father. I'll give him a barely passing grade for his performance, because it protected his kid, but yes, he was ludicrous and he could have done a better job using his adult interpersonal skills rather than his loud, boorish leftist agitprop act.
"it protected his kid"
?
He exposed his kid needlessly to his foul mouth and physical threats over nonsense.
I was born in NYC, and soon after that my parents took me to New England, that melting pot of cursing ethnics. Later I lived again in the city (that's what we called NYC) for three years while in law school. I think I know ethnic slurs. There were a LOT of ethnic slurs for Italians (and also a lot for krauts and harps like me), but Fredo wasn't one of them. The technical term for the way Cuomo behaved in that clip is "ass hole".
What I don’t like about his whole Fredo thing is it implies Andrew is smart. He’s a goddamn moron who’s destroying my state. I was born here 14 years before he was, but he tells me, who pays his salary, that I don’t belong here because I’m not a brain dead liberal. New York state is like Illinois in that it’s a red state with one super-blue mega city inside it, skewing election results with noncitizens and dead people voting and double voting. Instead of being a governor for all of us, he tells the majority of his constituents, those leaning right, to get packing.
Fredo lost, not for losing his cool, but for asking permission to call the assaulter a punk bitch
