"President Donald Trump's job approval rating increased relatively sharply over the past month to 45% in an April 1-9 Gallup poll, up from 39% in March."

"This marks the third time the 45th president has reached a 45% job approval rating in Gallup trends -- his highest in the series."
This is Gallup's first measurement of presidential approval since special counsel Robert Mueller completed his investigation into Russian attempts to sway the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Attorney General William Barr's synopsis of Mueller's findings reported no Russian involvement in the Trump campaign and insufficient evidence of obstruction of justice -- which Trump claims fully vindicates him....

Trump's previous 45% readings were recorded in his first week in office in January 2017, and again in June 2018 after his historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"when he lost the popular vote."

No one won or lost the popular vote. It wasn't in play. Fixating on that stat is as silly as obsessing over who had more 3rd down conversions.

Hey Genius, do you think the NFL would train and play differently if 3rd down conversions defined who won?

Don't iron your shirt while you are wearing it m'kay?

Doc Mike confirms my point. Trump is showman and knows to keep them wanting more theatre. Not a conspiracy, just a brilliant political strategy.

Oh, I agree with you here, Howard.

Remember when someone asked Reagann how being an actor could prepare him for being president?

He said "I don't see how anyone who has never been an actor could do it." "Politics is show business for ugly people. " Jay Leno.

We have to remember that The Constitution is a living document. Where once racism was a peculiar institution, today we have diversity. Where once sexism was sporadic, today we have feminism. Where once there was equal treatment, today we have political congruence ("="). Where once there was life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, today we have selective-child and classes to indoctrinate girls and boys. Where once there was justice, today we have social justice.

Chuck is clearly despondent over the ratings collapse of his "brilliant" Maddow.

No wonder he has transitioned to posting links to far left websites like The Bulwark, Vox and lawfareblog.

Casual scrutiny. You're like the quarterback who always eyeballs the receiver he's throwing before he takes the snap.

I compared you to a quarterback because I think you need to feel good about yourself. Do you feel good about yourself? In a world surrounded by Nazi Fascist Orange Men, one man withstands the withering gaze of Professor Wonka and her Oompa Lumpas... Chuck! Speaking truth to power! Asserting his Righteous Principles! Well, still no Inga, but Chuck had to spew out his usual poison.

Chuck, yes, Trumps poll numbers are unusually low.

Please name a president, ANY president who has had 90% of the media who has made it their personal crusade to destroy his presidency.

So this requires a bit of nuanced thinking and context. This, you refuse to apply EVER because, as you have said (and we have not forgotten) You want Trump to FAIL and anything ANYTHING you can do to push that forward you will say or do.

To wit, if Trump cured cancer, ALL cancer, you'd bitch about how he caused unemployment in the health care field.

You are never an honest broker. And I do not say this as an attack. This is more a public service message for any new lurkers here.

Still true. I was offered $10 to conduct a poll about something

I still refused. While it is possible that this happens on both sides of the aisle, I am betting that Conservatives and Republicans refuse more simply because they hate the Media and Academia more since Academia and Media are consistently hateful and biased against them (see Trump, Donald).

So there is that '15 point bump' that is missing from Trumps numbers. As a famous pollster said back in the Clinton days "the Media is worth 15 points for Democrats'.

So Trumps score is way higher than that. (Chuck hardest hit)

A good pollster puts his effort into randomizing the sample frame and including members from all expected strata. A clumsy pollster post processes his/her results by trying to find effects of different populations (D, R), then applying that to the whole population.

"The only reason Hillary won the popular vote is because California had an absurd number of illegal voters voting in a dozen corrupt counties.

That's as much a self-serving fantasy as is Hillary's and the Dems' insistence that the Russians and Trump colluded and threw the election for Trump.

Qwinn said...

"The only reason Hillary won the popular vote is because California had an absurd number of illegal voters voting in a dozen corrupt counties. "

Not to mention, California conservatives had literally NO reason to vote. There were literally no conservatives on the ballot for them to vote -for- in virtually the entire state. Whereas in plenty of races there were two Democrats going against each other on the ballot, giving every Dem with a preference for one reason to vote. If the popular vote mattered, the conservatives would've come out, and the totals would've been vastly different. Do I think there exists 2 million conservatives in California who would've voted but didn't because it didn't matter? Sure. Easily.

The above uses of the word "literally" are intended and correctly applied.

Chuck has claimed he voted for Trump despite saying the 2016 election results were a disaster.

It is part of the character he plays.

Just like Romney pretends he is something he is not to get republican voters to vote for him with the help of a lot of money from his people.

In fact, Chuck did not vote for Donald Trump. He made that quite clear. There is no mark next to Donald Trump's name on Chuck's ballot from 2016.

At best, assuming that he's not lying again, he voted the straight R ticket in MI. An interesting hypocrisy as he allegedly opposes the straight ticket ballot.

chuck said...

Come on people, be fair. Chuck has *always* said he voted for Trump, and the election was indeed close run.

Nichevo said...

Trump fans keep thinking that Trump won a great victory

Of course he did. It's fact, not opinion.

Hillary Clinton herself said that she should have won by fifty points.

Instead, she lost by 77!

(304-227=77)

As for this trivia about the so-called popular vote:

I do remember one line from Ralph Peters in which two Soviet Generals are sitting victorious in a cafe in Paris and one asks the other, "So who won the air war?"

My belief was (and is) that a corrupt prosecutor is capable of getting (or fabricating) the goods on anyone, even a Saint, by rolling up subordinates with perjury traps and other tricks and threats. But I erred in believing Mueller was corrupt. I don’t think I was alone.

Worst admission ever, but better than an outright denial.

Also, Mueller is corrupt if by corrupt you mean investigated a known non-crime in the hopes of achieving a political end.

He honestly believes that you are as stupid and as partisan as he is. He cannot concieve of anyone not seeing politics in anything other than black and white. He-and the rest of the usual suapects-honestly believe, (notice I don't use the word ,'think,'), that voting for Trump was a knee jerk, joyful, choice. Much like they all joyfully voted for Obama. They cannot make the connecttion that a significant number of voters voted for, Not Hillary. I makes you wonder if they get all their informtion from CNN and MSNBC and The Daily Show. it would ertainly explaine a lot.

Chuck said...

The real stupidity on display here are the dumb, emotional, falsified attacks on me for writing things that are undeniably true.

I have been telling the readers here that I voted for Trump since November of 2016. "Search" would have been your friend in this case. There's never been a moment since the 2016 election when I have said anything else.

To review; the winner of the electoral college is the rightful winner of the presidential election. I am not a liberal, not a Democrat, and not someone who thinks that the Trump electoral victory was tainted or illegitimate. And all of that is precisely what I have stated in numerous comments on these pages countless times.

I don't claim that the national popular vote is indicative of anything other than the most accurate indicator of national sentiment (wholly apart from the electoral college) on election day. In a word, I think that the national polls were and are geared toward measuring the national popular vote, and in 2016, the polls were correct, well within the accepted margin of error.

And the only reason I brought it up the national popular vote was to deflate the commenter who tried to claim that the polls were badly wrong in 2016. They weren't.

Trump and his supporters seem to want to claim a large electoral victory when in fact based on all the metrics, it was a narrow and almost freakish election result. Still, it was a victory for Trump and no one here can find any past writings of mine where I doubted it.

Birkel said...

It's amazing that people don't believe a self-described smear merchant.

There is no such thing as "national popular vote" and there never has been, smear merchant.

The polls 7-10 days before the election were meant to shape the narrative. They were wildly inaccurate and likely purposefully so. Defending the pollsters who were trying to deceive is an odd thing for an honest person. A smear merchant, however, has no such compunction. A smear merchant discusses meaningless notions as if they held value. And a smear merchant lies for the sake of falsehood and deception.

Imagine that!

Fen said...

"I don't claim that the national popular vote is indicative of anything other than the most accurate indicator of national sentiment"

It's not even that. Turnout in states that are deep blue or red is less, because, despite what people say to pollsters, they would not bother with the extra traffix and lines if the odds are already 90% they will win/lose anyway.

The argument you want to be making is that Democrat and Media pollsters inadvertently depressed Hillary turnout with their cocky predictions.

The popular vote is a poor metric that Sore Losermans cling too. You might as well be arguing over Hits At Bat instead of runs scored.

.
"I have been telling the readers here that I voted for Trump since November of 2016. "Search" would have been your friend in this case."

You're the one with the credibility problem. No one believes you, no one trusts you. If it were me, I would have come back with "I said it HERE ((link) and HERE, and also HERE".

I notice you didn't do even that. Just some handwaving to "go google it". Put up or shut up.

Your main mistake was in presuming that I cared about what you personally thought of Tillerson and Rice. I never cared about that.

I brought up Augusta during Masters week as a bit of lightheartedness. Naturally since it was me, somebody wanted to pick on it and elevate them he argument.

Okay, so here; Rice and Tillerson are both lifelong Republicans. They both think that Trump is something like a “total fucking moron.”

And unlike you, they are both members at The Augusta National Golf Club.
