Especially the very exciting world of Twitter.

Trump on Twitter this morning:
I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible. It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard. American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind. There is no reason that we should be lagging behind on.......

......something that is so obviously the future. I want the United States to win through competition, not by blocking out currently more advanced technologies. We must always be the leader in everything we do, especially when it comes to the very exciting world of technology!

Some will say Trump is contradicting himself here.

But this is consistent with his stated strategy of using country tariffs for the limited purpose of leveling the playing field between nations while embracing the discipline of free markets and the benefits of that competition.

That is a ridiculous goal to have, and an impossible one to achieve. One of the first things students are taught in economics class is the concept of comparative advantage. Where a country should focus on it inherent strengths. Putting an ignoramus in charge of the economy and country is a blunder of the first magnitude. But the deplorables, and rednecks love it.

I've read a few articles that question the safety of 5G due to increased radiation exposure. The technology sounds great but they would do well to examine any potential health impacts. Apolitically.

Jack Welch would disagree with you.

Trumpit,

If that’s true, why do you trust so much in politicians who pander to your ideals and reserve such hatred for politicians who pander to contrary ideals?

What are you hoping for? Do you really support free and open competition? What about violent competition?

In rural upstate NY I get spotty 4G coverage. My phone will often drop to 3G and even 2G in certain areas. I know that 5G will require a pretty big investment in infrastructure, a lot more towers.

I think he should start channeling AOC on these sort of things...'7G for everyone!' That'd be pretty funny - because it drives those that take twitter seriously (and left wing hateful-lunatics) crazy.

It's funny that at the time that Onion piece was put up, having 5 blades in a razor was considered absurd enough to be satire. Then literally like 2 years letter it became real.

This is why I'm opposed to the GND. Let some other country be the leader. Australia is currently bucking for that position. Let's see how it goes.

Pretty sure the best way to lead in wireless tech is to keep the Feds out of it.

(And 6G? It'll come around. So ...)

Topping the list of things I wish that I had written today:

Danny Crichton, a technology writer whose beat includes the development of 5G systems, reminds us that "6G" technology not only doesn't exist in any developmental form; it isn't currently "a thing" at all. Except on Donald Trump's Twitter feed. Which is so powerful. It's actually one of the most powerful things in the history of technology except that you'd never know it from the fake news which is wrong and is the enemy of the American people.

Read that. That’s how you inspire.

You don’t inspire by suggesting weatherstripping is our goal.

Seriously, not literally.

It seems to be going down, but they won’t learn from that.

It’s going to take brownouts and freezing.

The Capitol should be first.

Don't worry, Chuck. Space Force will bring 6G back from Planet Mongo.

We are lagging behind because hoarding bandwidth is how the major American carriers, especially the local carriers who handle "the last mile", make their money.

We need either true competition all along the circuit, including the last mile, or we need federally regulated utilities. If this was 1950s America, I'd have some faith in building out a federally regulated utility, but, in 2019's America, I'd much rather have competition.

What do you suppose the advancement after 5G will be called? Or are you supposing 5G is the best it will ever get?

I am so hopeful that you will get some gratification out of knowing that I was thinking of "Space Force" as I posted that comment. As you probably know, there was Space Force news just two days ago. (I wouldn't normally select a Mother Jones link; you can find the substantive news anywhere you'd like. But the proper spin on that particular story was caught accurately by Mother Jones. Trump made a big Space Force announcement, and now it is just a program within the Air Force. Like it was before.)

Thanks and best wishes.

If "6G" was actually a cognizable thing, I feel certain that I would not mock it for a moment.

I was mocking Donald Trump, because I am not sure what sort of thing he is.

When we have human transporters, and when we develop a species of flying unicorns whose coats are colored like American flags, I will not mock any of them. In the meantime, I might mock a public-private partnership to help develop those technologies.

Are you now clearer on the ridiculous notion that you tried to assign to me, and the import of what I actually wrote, and the vast gulf of difference between the two?

You need not answer, because I am now done with this comments page. Buh-bye. See you in Wakanda.

How do you know?

ST4 talked about the formula for Transparent Aluminum. Who sez it won’t happen?

Were cathode ray tubes imagined at the start of the industrial revolution?

What about silicon chips 200 years ago?

You are a tool.

You mocked Trump because you don't think. You do what tools do. Orange man bad is the extent of your tool like thoughts.

"6g isn't a thing Trump is dumb!"

Spare me.

Nobody cares about you any more. You are a member of the most pathetic political tribe in decades. The Whig party was more honorable than the cuck wing of the democrat party. Take Romney and Kasich and make your own stupid little party with no voters.
