The true survivor is Anthony Borges, who was shot five times blocking a door to protect other students, and who has survived his wounds. But Borges correctly blames the school administration (a monitor spotted Cruz on his way into the building, knew that Cruz was not allowed on campus with a backpack, much less a backpack and duffle bag but chose not to confront him nor to notify police) and the sheriff’s office (whose cowardly actions are well-documented) and not the NRA, so you don’t see TV cameras covering his every utterance.; 12/23/18, 8:35 AM

That said, Harvard very well knew that admitting Hogg was going to open questions and they certainly could have prepared a statement to that effect, but apparently they chose not to do so. So while I normally consider such a half-baked attempt to get a comment to be poor form, in this case this was not a surprise and it has the markings of the university trying to dodge the issue. Let's be honest: 1270 is awfully low for a Harvard admission. I suspect that is low for a student athlete and probably is near or below the floor for a desperation diversity admission. According to prepscholar.com, a 1270 is average for schools like UMass, Drexel, and Syracuse. There's nothing wrong with those schools, other than what is wrong with higher education in general, but it ain't Harvard.; 12/23/18, 3:05 PM
