Trump gives a long interview to Chris Wallace.

Watch the whole thing:

Chris Wallace defends the guild instead of recognizing the fundamental problem that the news media face: diminished credibility.

Wallace cannot accept that his "change the world" peers are foolish and inconsequential Leftists who cannot set the agenda if the Chief Executive doesn't allow it. George Bush (43) never learned that lesson as he sold out to the globalist agenda. Barack Obama never had to learn that lesson as the press ran interference for his Administration.

Chris Wallace should be replaced. He is a dinosaur.

Trump isn't interesting except for his short form insults.

Birkel is on track. Chris Wallace just defends his tribe. But is tribe is full of partisan liars. Foolish to defend Acosta and CNN.

Trump is so inarticulate. What he needs to say is that the Fake News media are open advocates and partisans working against him. They are well beyond bias. That how the false stories are generated. He used the helicopter trip cancellation as one example. That’s the tip of the iceberg.

The Fake News is the enemy of the people if they don’t report just the news in a cruelly neutral fashion.

Their credibility is shot.

The only news show that is doing its job is Special Report with Brett Baier. CNN is a total joke.

I thought he was a snot nosed kid trying desperately to fill his dads shoes. At some point he aged, weird, I dont feel any older.

He does try to fair and balenced, but he constantly takes a neutrel position and then in the ends shades it to the left, so he is not frozen out of the cool kids clique

I have yet to hear one person on the left explain what "Obstruction of justice" means in the context of Trump getting in the way of the Mueller-Hillary revenge investigation.

iowan2 said...

What he needs to say is... Why do you and others keep wanting to change the way a great communicator, communicates??? The President sits there today because of the way he communicates to the voters. You may think you can improve on it, but ask yourself, could you have more then doubled any Republican Presidents approval among African Americans using your approved style? Leave the President to do his own thing. He is constantly testing his messaging and adjusting as he sees fit.

Wince said...

Chris Wallace does seem to have a hard time differentiating bias or opinionated coverage from known falsity (reckless disregard) of reported fact.

Does not reflect well on Wallace's professionalism or intellect.

David Begley said...

Bimbos

Obstruction of Justice is just code for getting rid of Trump because he won the election and don’t like him. No serious lawyer would use that phrase in conjunction with what Trump did.

As President, he has the right to fire every inferior officer of the Executive Branch unless protected by civil service rules. That means Comey and Mueller. And Sessions and any US Attorney.

David Begley said...

Let me rephrase that. He needs to explain in more detail when he uses the phrase Fake News. I love how he pushes back but sometimes his language creates unnecessary problems,

His MAGA slogan was pure genius.

Chris Wallace is Mike Wallace's son and so the epitome of a smug Manhattan penthouse liberal Democrat who will never recognize that there is nothing liberal about the progressive Democrats. They just cannot face up to it.

And now Trump has tweeted about "little Adam Schitt." The man is irrepressible.

So how long until some federal judge orders him to give one to Jim Acosta?

Obama was not only the worst President in modern American history, I was baffled by people who thought he was a great speaker, it was all vacuous and abstract pap used with the word “I” about 30 times in 45 minutes. But most people are poorly educated, distracted and just steeped in liberalism on an everyday basis. People were all caught up in the emotion of Obama. Obama the boyfriend. Denzel Washington pretending to be President.

He couldn’t make a speech without using the straw man fallacy.

“Do the right thing.” “That’s not who we are.” “The arc of history.” WTF?

I only wish he would have stayed at the University of Chicago instead of inflicting his historic presidency on us.

Wince said...

What the press guild seems to object to is "the people" having any standing in the debate over "fake news".

Thought experiment: would it make a difference to the press guild if Trump said, "Fake news is the enemy of the truth" rather than "the enemy of the people"?

The former is tautological, but by cutting-out "the people" it shifts the debate to a metaphysical about "the truth" among members of the guild and the people they cover -- rather than identifying the effect, which is the disservice and negative value delivered to the consumers/end-users of the news.

When is Mueller thing going to end?

Its been dragging on for 1.5 YEARS!

Just end it.

Reading a book about Jerry Ford and his pardon of Nixon.

31 Days. Not bad.

Incredibly, there were large numbers of peeps who wanted Nixon to stand trial, so they could wallow in Watergate for another year.

I'm not a Jerry Ford fan, but I give him credit for tying to end Watergate, and move on.

Up next - crucify the guy who leaked stupid hacked DNC-Podesta emails.

If anyone hacked the RNC - the left would make them a hero.

Given that he can't distinguish between the "fake news media" and the media in general, Wallace seems to think that all the media is fake news.

Schitt's Creek (stylized as Schitt$ Creek) is a Canadian television sitcom created by Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy, that premiered on CBC Television on January 13, 2015. The series stars Eugene Levy as Johnny Rose, a wealthy video store magnate, and Catherine O'Hara as his wife Moira, a formerly successful soap star. The family loses their fortune when their business manager fails to pay their taxes. They are forced to rebuild their lives with their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt's Creek which they had bought their son as a joke birthday gift years before.. The show is based on a series of situations contrasting the once-rich family and their worldly big-city attitudes with sudden small-town living, and their dealings with the stubbornly unsophisticated (but usually down-to-earth) residents of Schitt's Creek.

If the press misleads the American people, how do you characterize these actions?

Enemy of the people is strong. But if someone lies to be my omission, they certainly aren't my friend and as people who are supposed to be INFORMING the American people, they certainly aren't doing their jobs, are they?

The press has been lying (and retracting) stories about Republicans as long as I've been paying attention to politics. They suppress stories which hurt Democrats.

Let us never forget that NBC KNEW, they KNEW about that little cum stained dress of Monica Lewinsky...and they REFUSED to report it until they were forced to by Drudge.

They put a massive thumb on the scale of public opinion. One reporter claimed that they were worth 15 points for Democrats in elections.

Now they are being called on their bias. I see nothing wrong with watching the watchers.

mockturtle said...

They put a massive thumb on the scale of public opinion.

They do, indeed. A liberal friend was amazed that I don't watch MSNBC or CNN. "How do you know what's going on?" She considers Rachel Maddow the quintessential journalist. So does my liberal aunt. If there were no national news media we might be forced to look at what's going on in our own neighborhood, town, county and state. This is where real problems beg for real solutions.

Birkel said...

mockturtle,
I thought my comment was charitable. And my point in the charitable reading was to avoid discussing how much all Bushes suck.

Reagan's biggest mistake was accepting Bush as VP instead of Jack Kemp. I have never voted for a Bush because I agree with your assessment. My support of Reagan was never an endorsement of any Bush.

Trump should make clear he is not a globalist. And the only option, if not a globalist, is nationalism.

1. The Fake News is so clueless that they seem to forget that Ben Rhodes called them out for the dopes that they are. He wrote that they know nothing. He freely admitted that he used the Fake News to move Obama’s policies. They never questioned him.

Now I see Rhodes on CNN and MSNBC.

2. The Althouse blog and Power Line blog are 10x better than the WaPo and NYT. My campaign trail reports from Iowa and Nebraska we’re superior to what the NYT and WaPo ran. I skimmed a book by Amy Chosin (NYT reporter) about her campaign experience. Pap. Mostly whining. She was a total shill for Hillary. I analyzed the crap she was proposing.

Wallace is anti-Trump using the CIA’s complete false narrative assumptions in every question. That means FOX has gone Fake News all of a sudden. The Murdoch boys must be caught up in a globalist panic. Wonder why that is.

Chris Wallace is a liberal Democrat who attracts old fashioned liberals to Fox News. That is not a bad thing.

By today's standards, Wallace is a moderate. He defends the tribe, but he does not seem anywhere near as delusional as today's leftists. Every now and then, he does something unexpected like chiding Sep Smith over blaming Trump for mass murders.

As i recall, by the time W Bush left office, a similar percentage of Democrats believed that W. was in on the planning of the 9/11 attacks.

~Who are these people — lots of them, Trump says — who will not vote if Trump is not on the ballot? They sound like the African-Americans who would not vote when Obama was not on the ballot.

~Trump said repeatedly, “I won the Senate.” Who lost the House? It would be easy to argue that “electoral history” was what cost the Republicans their House majority. But at the same time, the electoral map is what made it all but impossible for Democrats to win back the Senate. The Republicans picked up 2 seats when the map was the best for Republicans in almost a century. Picking up two seats in that environment for Republicans was a really modest achievement.

~With zero supporting evidence, Trump claimed that he saved the Senatorial win for Governor Scott in Florida. Trump simultaneously claimed that the Scott win was significant (“by many thousands”) when in fact it was a victory by about 0.25% of the vote; at the same time Trump was claiming, falsely, that the Florida recount would have resulted in a win for Sen. Nelson if Trump had not intervened. (How exactly DID Trump intervene in Florida? What did Trump do?)

I watched the interview this morning.

One of the things that struck me was when Wallace asked him if he had heard the recording of the torture and dismemberment of Khashoggi. He said something to the effect of he didn't listen to it because it was too terrible and was full of suffering.

I find this a little disconcerting. Grow some stones. If you can't listen to the sound of death, how can we have confidence that you'll be able to lead us in times of great suffering and trauma? It was probably all in Arabic anyway, so he wouldn't understand it.

This is my biggest doubt about Trump. How will he act when a crisis hits? I suspect we're going to find out in the next couple of years.

Birkel said...

Chuck, fopdoodle extraordinaire, exists to doubt the results of Trump.
Look for a corollary of Senate pickups in an off year.
Get back to us, smart GOPe lawyer guy.

Funny how Chuck has no idea what Trump might have done to stop Democrat fraud in Florida (we know he sent lawyers), but he still states that Trump "falsely" took credit as if that were a fact. Chuck has some amazing connections, apparently.

Weird, ain't it? He can write that "they literally know nothing" and can be used so easily by the Obama admin, and yet they willingly submit to his "use" over and over. And they never report on the "crap" he sold them as official BSer for Obama. He admits it and yet they ignore the fact that he fed them #fakenews and they fell for it. I think Rhodes is also the genius who came up with the phrase "without providing any proof" which they now amend to any Trump quote that they are too lazy to check.

Chuck said...

Trump did not send lawyers to Florida. That’s a falsehood on your part, Quinn.

The Republican National Senatorial Committee’s lawyers managed the whole thing. It wasn’t Trump. It was the group that is derisively called “the GOP establishment.” And that is what I want to rub your fucking nose in. The GOP establishment won the day. Not that the result should ever have been in doubt.

A win for the GOP establishment.
