"Scotty’s been scorched by this firestorm, and just like a bratwurst, he’s fried!"

New lyrics for the Solidarity Singers, quoted in "Sha na na na, goodbye!/Walker is on his way out, but the Solidarity Sing Along might stick around a while longer" (Isthmus).

Isn't the headline writer mixed up? Sha Na Na was that band, but the oft-sung song, originally recorded by Steam, is "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye." It was also recorded by Bananarama, or as Isthmus might call them Shananarama:

Interesting fashion and hairstyles there. For comparison, here's Steam:

By the way, it seems insensitive to liken Scott Walker to a piece of meat and, especially in this time of disastrous wildfires, to picture him fried and scorched in a firestorm. But that's okay. It illustrates the point I always make: Calls for civility in politics are always bullshit.

ADDED: Here's the Wikipedia page for Sha Na Na. The group — who sang doo wop oldies — got the three syllables from "Get a Job" a 1957 song about your mother yelling at you to get a job.

You Wisconsinites are weird, Meade and Althouse. You replaced Walker with a guy who, by all measures, did an abysmal job as Superintendent of Public Education, so that the guy can ... improve public education.

Is there something in the brats and cheese that saps your collective IQ points?

Truth is, nearly every political career ends with a losing election. A few get to retire undefeated and some die in office, but that's the basic reality.

The sort of bottomless political hatred that gets you things like the "Solidarity Sing-Along" is just mystifying to me. These people must have better things to do with their time.

It talks about "my girl" being the one who's saying to get a job. (It's been years since I've heard the song, so I had to go listen again to be sure.)

We still have a very Republican legislature, and a conservative Supreme Court. So Tony Evers is going to have a tough road to hoe to get any of his insanity done. Hopefully WI wakes up and makes him a one turn guv.

As far as the Solidarity Singers, they're just a bunch of lazy ass teachers and gummint workers pissed off that Walker ended their gravy train. Being morons, they really have little left to offer society. There songs lyrics are innane...much like the latest one " “Scotty’s been scorched by this firestorm, and just like a bratwurst, he’s fried!”"

Who the fuck fries bratwurst? It's grilled.

Anyway, Walker may soon be gone but the results of all his hard work will be around for a long long time.

Here's my classic rewrite of the stupid SS song "Solidarity Forever" to honor all the Walker and Act 10 protesters!

Nothing Lasts Forever

We had the fall elections that we lost instead of won
So we grabbed our drums and bugles for some protestin’ fun
Yet our force was weaker than Walker’s awesome strength of one
Damn our gravy train is gone.

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

The public finally realized that we are the greedy parasite
Nobody bought this serfdom shit once our compensation came to light
Sure there’s always something left for us to organize and fight
But our gravy train is gone.

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

It is we who make you wait forever at the DMV
Because we used to start at ten and quit at half past three
Now voting is like coming here you’ll need a state ID
For our gravy train is gone.

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

The world that's staffed by idle drones was ours and ours alone
But that’s history because Walker cut our budgets to the bone
Now we have to type and file and answer the goddamn phone!
Because that gravy train is gone.

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

We have taken untold millions that the public toiled to earn
And the unions spent their 10% so that fact was never learned
Now those were times that we will forever yearn
Because our gravy train is gone.

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

Now our protests sound tired and oh so very lame
We can’t think of anything else to chant but that idiotic “shame”
Our last chance will be recalls that will surely end the same
And our gravy train is gone!

Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, Nothing lasts forever, For our gravy train is gone.

Will Evers reverse Walker’s limitations on SEU collective bargaining rights? I wasn’t paying enough attention to Evers campaign. Seems like an important enough question for broader discussion.

Well, that requires legislative action, so no. GOP has solid majority in Assembly, Senate, and Supreme Court.

You mean that thing I had in Utah, selling cars, where the Democrats put flyers in the showroom window saying I was a Republican - because I started selling on my first day with no experience - and which HR called "Boys will be boys"? Nah, y'all can keep that shit. I know a sucker's bet when I see one.

Or how about the job I had when two girls said I sexually harassed them because I merely walked away whenever they got "spiritual"? A gay guy once claimed the same thing because he wanted to discuss the "spiritual" massage class that made him too tired to pull his share of the workload.

How about when I was putting up steel buildings for a white guy who mercilessly exploited illegal Mexicans and openly said he wouldn't work for the wages he was paying us?

Are those the kinds of "great opportunities" you guys keep holding out there for blacks? If so, I'll make you a deal:

Change the rules, so I can (culturally) shoot people to defend myself, like in South Central, and I'll reconsider.

If not, y'all's creating pussies to live like that - and I ain't the one.

Walker is a piece of work whose lack of transparency, criticized by four folks who worked for him, cozy relationship to major donors and obvious self-enrichment and interest over the state deserves every sour note he can hear.

They used Nazi shkiheads, and eventually lawyers, to stop me from pressing them for my money.

You guys are wasting your breath if you think you can overcome what I've been subject to. You're all liars.

Actually, no, or they wouldn't be doing it. It's like looking at 10,000 people marching through Mexico with the intent of crashing through the US border and saying "That's not an invasion."

Put on your reality glasses, friend. These people have no higher calling than to be a pain in the ass, or serial liars, as the case may be.

Curious, in an otherwise admirable work, you insert this false statement:

But that’s history because Walker cut our budgets to the bone

No matter what one thinks of Act 10, Walker was one of the most "Gummint-Friendly" governors in Wisconsin history, comparable to Tommy Thompson, but not quite as egregious as Diamond Jim Doyle. Walker drank every drop of the Nixon/Bush/Bush Kool-Aid, and it shows.

Just for fun, check out "FTE Equivalent" in Walker's budgets. You'll learn something.

Here in CO we went full DEM BLUE. An anti fracking amendment went down but the talk coming from the DEM control to be Legislator is basically they are going to shut it down. And raise "fees" (raising tax takes a vote of the "people"). I expect gas taxes to go up too. CO is going down the road fast to become CA.

So weak, compared to Crosby and Hope in "The Road to Morocco" (1942) singing:

We certainly do get around
Like a complete set of Shakespeare that you get
In the corner drugstore for a dollar ninety-eight
We're Morocco bound

P.S. One of the founders of Sha Na Na, Robert Leonard, went on to become a leader in the field of forensic linguistics.

Gottlieb's comments come soon after two other top Walker aides publicly rebuked the governor.

Former Financial Institutions Secretary Peter Bildsten last month said Walker's team had told him to meet with payday loan lobbyists and discouraged him from creating documents that could be released under the public records law. And former Corrections Secretary Ed Wall last month published a book that portrays Walker as more concerned about his unsuccessful presidential run than the needs of the state.

I didn't write brat, or quote it. SO what the fuck are you talking about? Dullard.

Big Mike said...

@Curious George, the German word for “fried” is “gebraten,” so “bratwurst” literally translates to “fried sausage.”

Two takeaways. First, no true American would fry brats. And second, Inga is not s true American. She let slip the mask. She is actually a former Nazi prison camp guard who is illegally in the US as an agent of Frau Merkel’s Stasi.
