Here's the quote in context:
"I feel so badly for him that he's going through this, to be honest with you. I feel so badly for him. This is not a man that deserves this... this should have been brought up long ago and that's what you have hearings for, you don't wait until the hearing is over and then all of a sudden bring it up. When Senator Feinstein sat with Judge Kavanaugh for a long period of time a long, long meeting. She had this letter, why didn't she bring it up? Why didn't she bring it up then? Why didn't the Democrats bring it up then? Because they obstruct and because they resist. That's the name of their campaign against me. Resist. And they just obstruct. And, frankly, I think they're lousy on policy and in many ways they're lousy politicians, but they're very good on obstruction. And it's a shame. Because this is a great gentleman. With all of that, I feel that the Republicans, and I can speak for myself, we should go through a process, because there shouldn't even be a little doubt. There shouldn't be a doubt. Again, they knew what they were doing. They should have done this a long time ago, three months ago, not now. But they did it now. So I don't want to play into their hands."
You can think about how the hand would have played out if the Republicans had been the ones to "obstruct and... resist." I think that's what the Democrats pictured, when they waited until after the hearings: "They did it now." Trump sees that as a deliberate play, and he's not going to let it work the way they planned. After what they did... "we should go through a process." That's surprising. Now, what are they to do?
I think they are scrambling. Today, we see that the accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, might not appear at the scheduled hearing — "Kavanaugh’s Accuser Has Yet to Confirm Appearance at Monday Hearings" (NYT):
The mysterious silence from Dr. Blasey and her lawyers was another turn in a drama that has gripped the Capitol since Thursday....He could be asked about his problems with alcohol-induced amnesia, his observation of Kavanaugh's drinking, and any alcohol-induced amnesia he saw in Kavanaugh, and he could be pressured to admit that he's unreliable as a witness to the nonoccurrence of any event from his heavy-drinking years.
Dr. Blasey, thrust suddenly into a spotlight that she never sought, has been inundated with vulgar email and social media messages, and even death threats.... Dr. Blasey, who has two teenagers, has moved out of her house, is arranging for private security for herself and her family, and is effectively in hiding, [an unnamed person close to her told the NYT]....
Democrats and Republicans, meanwhile, are clashing over the scope and shape of the hearings. Mr. Grassley said Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Blasey would be the only witnesses, prompting pushback from top Democrats, who are demanding an F.B.I. investigation to search for additional witnesses or evidence, and to avoid the specter of a “he said, she said” debate that will not get at the truth.
One possible witness is a friend of Judge Kavanaugh’s, Mark Judge, who Dr. Blasey said was in the room with Judge Kavanaugh when the assault occurred. Mr. Judge had told the Judiciary Committee that he does not remember the episode and has nothing more to say, seemingly foreclosing the possibility of an additional witness interview, at least for now.
“We have two diametrically opposed stories,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, said on the Senate floor. “My view: Professor Ford is telling the truth. But if you don’t want the hearing to be just a ‘he said, she said’ affair, an independent investigation, a background check by the F.B.I., is essential.... We must not repeat the mistakes of the Anita Hill hearings,” he said. “They were rushed, and they were a debacle.”That is, once the hearing was scheduled, Democrats switched to saying they didn't want it. And Blasey (Ford) seems to have become unavailable. Going public with the accusation now looks a bit like a bluff. But — not wanting to play into their hands — the bluff was called. And now they want a new deal: an independent investigation. Trump rejected that (in the clip above).
Anita Hill has been brought in, with an op-ed in the NYT, saying the Clarence Thomas hearings were not done right and the Senate needs to handle the woman's allegations about sexual misconduct properly this time. She says "The job of the Senate Judiciary Committee is to serve as fact-finders, to better serve the American public, and the weight of the government should not be used to destroy the lives of witnesses who are called to testify." But her idea of fact-finding is not for the Senators to question Blasey directly, according to Hill, who says:
Select a neutral investigative body with experience in sexual misconduct cases that will investigate the incident in question and present its findings to the committee. Outcomes in such investigations are more reliable and less likely to be perceived as tainted by partisanship. Senators must then rely on the investigators’ conclusions, along with advice from experts, to frame the questions they ask Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Blasey. Again, the senators’ fact-finding roles must guide their behavior. The investigators’ report should frame the hearing, not politics or myths about sexual assault. So the new hand has been dealt. How do you not play into that? I'm using Trump's idiom. If it seems wrong, let's talk about that.
ADDED: This post caused me to do a fair amount of research into the phrase "play into their hands." I'm not sure what the original metaphor is, but you can see from the post that I assumed it was poker. Anyway, the phrase means to do something that unwittingly advantages your opponent.
In my search, I ran across the phrase in the famous and tragically hilarious NYT article "The Aspiring Novelist Who Became Obama’s Foreign-Policy Guru/How Ben Rhodes rewrote the rules of diplomacy for the digital age" (May 2016):
With three hours to go until the president’s address to Congress, Rhodes grabs a big Gatorade and starts combing through the text of the State of the Union address. I peek over his shoulder, to get a sense of the meta-narrative that will shape dozens of thumb-suckers in the days and weeks to follow. One sentence reads: "But as we focus on destroying ISIL, over-the-top claims that this is World War III just play into their hands." He retypes a word, then changes it back, before continuing with his edit. "Masses of fighters on the back of pickup trucks, twisted souls plotting in apartments or garages — they pose an enormous danger to civilians; they have to be stopped. But they do not threaten our national existence."AND: Something new from Dianne Feinstein, about Blasey: "I can’t say everything’s truthful. I don’t know."
Later, she said, “Look I believe she is credible... But based on what I know at this stage she is credible,” which doesn't explicitly walk back the idea that maybe not everything Blasey said is true.
But then Feinstein came back with a sledgehammer: "During every step of this process, I’ve found every single piece of information from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford eminently credible, sincere and believable. She knew this would have a huge effect on her life and she was incredibly brave to come forward."
PLUS: Just last August, Dana Milbank (at WaPo) had a column titled "Journalists are playing into Trump’s hand":
Trump is making us the story by making us the in-house villain of his rallies.... My colleagues’ instinct has been to fight back. During a live stand-up from Trump’s Tampa rally this week, CNN’s Jim Acosta was taunted by the crowd, which had been chanting “fake news,” “go home” and “CNN sucks.” Said Acosta: “We’re staying right here. We’re going to do our job and report on this rally to all of our viewers here tonight.”UPDATE: I just heard on the Tucker Carlson show that Blasey has announced that she will not testify until after an independent investigation is done.
A noble sentiment, but better to “go home” — so Trump can’t use the scenes to his benefit. Eric Trump retweeted video of Trump supporters chanting “CNN sucks” at Acosta during his stand-up, adding the hashtag #Truth. The president retweeted his son....
Stop letting him make us the story.

Yes, workers are doing so badly these days. They have the misfortune of being better off than they ever have in history. Oh, the humanity, the horror of it all.
What's the matter... you miss the good old days of 1863? Maybe you could hire sharecroppers. LOL!
Oh those workers. So greedy. Getting so many rights in the courts (like not being able to be parties to class action suits) and so much attention from the lobbyists who own your congress critters.
" at some point when you are sucking the Devil's cock you really have to admit to yourself that maybe you're more than just an advocate now."
But the Devil promises to pay whatever he thinks you want, and what Trump haters want is proudly worn on their stained sleeves.

Think bigger. He's a rapist and a murderer!
Let's apply Ann's totally retarded standard here:
"Judge, can you recall every moment of your life? No? THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU DIDN'T MURDER SOMEONE during those moments you can't recall?"
The FBI should investigate.
The democrats are just now realizing they look like stupid miserable assholes.
This is playing out exactly as I said it would.
Trump knew this from the start.
Baloney! Trump knows nothing about "looking like a stupid miserable asshole!"
The concept is completely foreign to him.
When someone's looking for a decent upstanding guy, a guy who doesn't remind them of "stupid miserable assholes..." the first thing they do is get in touch with Trump.
His clean language, respect for human beings regardless of nation or station, and decent behavior and the example he sets make him the exemplar of humanity.
So how dirty do you think those condoms were that he declined to use when bareback banging the pornstars and Playboy pinups?
Yes, Judge said he was an alcoholic, but so did Ford, and included that she was very promiscuous in her youth.
Anybody have a legitimate link to that info? Seems to have been one guy on twitter, who may have been joking.
Is this true, or another "bad review", which makes repeaters seem un reliable?
"The democrats are just now realizing they look like stupid miserable assholes."
If the media could just find a few mirrors to hold up, this midterm election would be a rout.
Think bigger. He's a rapist and a murderer!
We'll wait until he says that he "can gun someone down in broad daylight on 5th Avenue" and not lose any support, first.
The guy who appointed him relies on your happy willingness to see him as just the kind of murderer you'd support!
Nice. We've now got the "promiscuous women should be raped" crowd chiming in.
Wonderful.
Actually, some workers are getting somethings.
Like black lung and the ability to promote a 19th century energy source.
But that's only if you're one of the lucky 50,000 coal miners in America. Hell, you even get to tell the utilities they have to buy your uncompetitive fuel, or else!
The other workers, not so much.

I wonder if Dems have another trick up their sleeve that will be deployed in next few days or is this it for kerfuffle? According to accuser she can't remember anything about this incident other than Kavanaugh did it and two other witness say it didn't happen, so what is there to investigate?
I can't tell if rumour claiming Ford was promiscuous and drank a lot during her teen years is true or not, but she will have her repuation torn shreds if it is true. I wonder how much Ford has been pressured into releasing letter and everything since, she seems like pawn to me.
Ritmo didn’t threaten me.
Nothing happened to that guy. It was a movie. The actor died of natural causes.
Ritmo is a cartoon character. A lonely harmless loser.

Kind of hard to tell when she scrubbed her entire social media history before going public... Maybe something existed proving this point one way or the other, but holding her to the same standard of evidence she's accusing Kavanaugh of... if the shoe fucking fits, wear it...

Loosen up, buddy. You're living on borrowed time anyway. Maria killed most of you guys.

Ummmm, how does that work?
What about Ellison’s accuser? Where’s her day in front of the House?
Squeamish wasn't the one that threatened to kill me but I think he just uttered a mortal threat against McCullough at 8:13.
Wow, your high school guidance counselor must be really satisfied with how well you're meeting the extremely low expectations they had of you right about now.
He quoted a guy in a well-known movie who taunts the Joe Pesci character to the point of getting whacked. I don't know why he did that but to call reciting a movie plot line as "a mortal threat" takes some first-rate stupidity.
Either that or a huge wallop of squeamishness.
Try to be less stupid or less paranoid. Your pick.
Or both, but that won't happen.
Or just more honest - which also won't happen.
And as per Roe v. wade, a life ain't worth all that much anyhow.

Ford went to the Washington Post with her story. They didn’t come to her. She stepped into the arena and hired one of Bill Clinton’s rape apologists.
Her sons are the victims here. They have a shit show for a mom. Hopefully they can overcome it. Would help if their dad grew a pair.
Declining to testify is an extraordinary turn of events. If FOrd holds to that position, it is raising the white flag of surrender on the merits. Sure, there wil be caterwauling about the FBI but that is whining about process. The bottom line is she was given an opportunity to tell her story, in public or private, and refused. That is her decision, and her decision alone.
My theory is that Ford is an academic and expected this to be treated like Title IX kangaroo courts on campus. She makes an accusation, it is presumed true, the accuser is not questioned about anything, and the accused gets little or no information and due process, and if turns out differently than she demands, she appeals it until it does.
She is not on a campus right now.

There is no crime for the FBI to investigate.
What law school did you fail out of?
I didn't go to law school, so please help me in my ignorance: is the FBI's jurisdiction unlimited? Are they tasked to investigate anything and everything they decide to? Or are they, as I believed in my non-law degree-having backwardness, constrained by law to only investigate potential FEDERAL CRIMES? If they are so constrained what federal crime do you think is involved in the alleged sexual assault that happened in Maryland at some point during an undefined 2-3 year period 30+ years ago??
Is it not enough to adopt the Stalinist idea that the accusation is proof of the crime--must we also turn the FBI into the Secret Police as well?
Since we are getting into the personal lives of the men in this situation and how that might relate to their honesty, I have a few questions for Ms. Ford:
Do you believe that Kavanaugh would take away a woman's right to abortion?
Have you ever had an abortion?
Do you have any knowledge of any friends or family that have had an abortion?
These are valid questions in determining if there was a 'nonoccurrence' in her life that might affect her trustworthiness in this matter.
I say we bring her friends and family in for questioning.
I hope none of them have a drinking problem.
I am Laslo.
Cronus,
Great point. She thinks she’s on campus. Now she’s clicking the heels of her ruby slippers three times to get out of the shit she stirred up.
She’s basically guaranteed that Trump’s next nominee to the Court is going to come from the same high school as Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. We’ll get a different story next time.
You know I think even a LifeLongRepublican would have to admit that Trump seems to be at his best/most focused/disciplined when it comes to his Supreme Court nominees.
He was on-message for Gorsuch and he's behaved himself thus far this time.
Where's the True Conservative praise for "good Trump?!"
Do not stop Ritmo.
Every post you make just screams crazy.
Please register your in kind donations to the republican party. Every time you open your mouth you drive off people who are not as stupid and hateful as you are.
Most women are smart enough to realize living in a country where every man has to worry about a vicious lying leftist woman making an unfalsifiable accusation about something that happened 36 years ago would not be good for them.
I have talked to more than a few lefties who are demoralized by how Feinstein and the democrats in general are acting right now.
Trump should let this play out all week. By then the DOJ will run out of excuses in releasing the redacted FISA warrant applications and all of the Comey McCabe Stzrok Page texts.
I didn't go to law school, so please help me in my ignorance: is the FBI's jurisdiction unlimited?
I don't think so. But that's kind of a different question than the ears-covered/eyes-blinded Bag o H20 standard of "If I didn't see a crime happen then it must not exist!" now, isn't it?
There's a rumor going around that the accuser of K wrote a similar letter about Gorsuch years ago.
She said there were four boys in the room - probably Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Thomas, and Alito.

It is, but the instant issue is: does the allegation here fall within the FBI's jurisdiction such that they CAN investigate it or not? If not...then why are people who ought to know better repeatedly calling for such a thing?
They need to just tell her to fuck off.
I have talked to more than a few lefties who are demoralized by how Feinstein and the democrats in general are acting right now.
Lol, right. I'm sure you have.
Maybe the same lefties that you regularly threaten with violent revolt every other day on this blog. Yeah, show them all your posts on that coming one-man, unlimited gun, kill all the leftists insurrection that you dream about and upload here regularly.
I'm sure their demoralization will be very uplifted by the alternative plans you've got for them. Hahaha.

Some talking head tonight claimed Trump would have to order the FBI to investigate.
So there you have it: Trump’s fault!
What about Karen Monohan?
Pubbies should start linking Ellison’s name.
Any word on the accusations against Kieth Ellison? They are FAR more credible.
Cronus
Interesting idea. You might be right. That would explain the whisper, whisper approach and then the refusal to testify.
mccullough - I don't think Ford is victim, I am 'reap what you sow' believer, but it wouldn't surprise me if Dems have been pushing her further than she wanted and she didn't think through consequences. The scenario that cronus titan writes about Ford thinking she still on campus and going in front of kangaroo court would not surprise me.
I kind of fear we're going to have some weird extra legal push to have the FBI investigate, just because this is such an extraordinary circumstance (they will say). Like laws don't apply when a woman is too scared to testify on tv.

He's not just the president of The Hair Club for Lonely Men. He's a client!
Blasey has announced that she will not testify until after an independent investigation is done.
Then I guess she's not going to testify, because the FBI -- and I'm paraphrasing here -- have already said that there's nothing to investigate.
Can the republicans on the committee subpoena her? Also to double down on the desperate dems, agree to refer the matter to the FBI and accept any result from buzz off to he's guilty as sin as long as the dems who want the referral to agree to vote for him if he is not found guilty. Go all in.
"The democrats are just now realizing they look like stupid miserable assholes."
Indeed.
What would an investigation reveal? The FBI would interview the witnesses: Ford, Kavanaugh, and Judge. There is no physical evidence to examine. There is nothing magical the FBI could do. The case, after investigation, would remain a he said / she said case.
An accusation is not evidence.
Call the cops right now and tell them you want to report a crime. You were assaulted. You cant provide any evidence of the assault, but you promise it's true. You don't know when, and you can't provide the address, or even the city, there are witnesses, but you cant identify even a single one of those, in fact the only person you can identify is the one you are accusing. Oh, you don't know if it was this year, or last year. See how serious the police take your accusation, without a single piece of evidence.
Hillary, who had pets killed and called any woman who accused Bill as liar, to avenge her sick fuck asshole husband's abuse of females - chimes in. Fuck you bitch. Go die.
@Ritmo, you are confusing Achilles with me. Come the revolution I got dibs on you. You are in serious need of reeducation.
Her lawyer already got caught in one lie- saying she couldn't testify on Monday in part because Senators were going to make her sit at the same table as Kavanaugh.

Is this really where we are in this situation?
A guy with alcohol problems gets pulled into a story about an event that can't even be located at a time or place, and his credibility is the one to get dragged into the town square to be fitted for the stockades?
I mean, I understand being a Devil's Advocate, but at some point when you are sucking the Devil's cock you really have to admit to yourself that maybe you're more than just an advocate now.
You sound like a guy who doesn't know neutrality and detachment when he sees it.
Honestly though it's not even the Satanic cocksucking that's the worst part. People have to take all kinds of terrible positions and make all sorts of awful attacks sometimes when the issue THEY actually care about is at stake (remember respected feminist journalist Nina Burleigh saying women ought to be lining up with kneepads on for Bill Clinton if it'd keep Roe safe?). What truly galls is that in these cases the cocksuckers not only deny they're gobblin' Devil dong, they PRAISE themselves for their brave objective stances and they talk about how any objection to their craven fallacious fellatio must be hateful, motivated by anti-woman sentiment, etc.
Just admit you're slurpin' Luciferian loads! It's plain to see that nice smart people we're supposed to respect will burn whatever rules and standards they would otherwise have if it means they might "protect Roe." Hey, that's fine--it's not great that you're suddenly ok with smears and a reverse of the usual presumption of guilt/rules of argument/standards of evidence, but if they'd just say "this topic is too important to pretend like I actually have principles or honor; no holds are barred and no rules will be respected" then I could at least credit them with honesty (of a kind).
But they won't.
Hey, Althouse—Feinstein is talking through her hat. Look that one up.
Weren't you on the island when Maria hit? The press says that thousands and thousands of people died.
Maybe that's another John.
This open letter to Diane Feinstein echoes something that a few of our female commentators have written on other threads -- a woman who survived a rape or attempted rape remembers every detail of the even -- faces, where it happened, when it happened, right down to the color of the rugs and furniture.
Anita Hill: Select a neutral investigative body with experience in sexual misconduct cases that will investigate the incident in question and present its findings to the committee.
Yeah, maybe some of those campus sex investigators or the judges in campus star chambers should sort all this out.
Fuuuuuck they think we're stupid. It's insulting how stupid they think we are!

"She said there were four boys in the room - probably Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Thomas, and Alito."
BS. We all know that in that scenario Thomas would have been portrayed as the rapist.
Hello, FBI? We need you to investigate a sexual assault allegation? Oh, that's a police matter? Still. When was it? Roughly 36 years ago? The actual date? No idea. The location? Not sure. What do we know? There were either 2 or 4 people in the room. Hello, hello? Did you hang up?

Does any of this sound like the American (or Anglo-American) system of law?
1. Secret anonymous accuser; accused has no right to confront accuser ('cause she's anonymous; also easily upset)
2. Accuser must be believed for some reason; burden of disproof is on the accuser--problem because impossible to prove it didn't happen
3. Accuser demands FBI investigate her charges: I don't remember what happened so could you please find out for me? Take as long as you want
4. I don't remember when, I don't remember where--not what house, not what town--I don't remember getting there or leaving there--but I took a "lie detector" test and "passed"
5. Since she was drunk and this guy Judge was super-drunk, do you think Judge jumped on her but doesn't remember because he was so drunk and she remembers something "Judgey" so decides it must have been Kavanaugh?
No sane lawyer would leave this story unshredded, and we do have a few sane lawyers on Judiciary
By the way, Ted Cruz is now leading Beto O'Rourke by a bunch of points, says Quinnipiac--he can afford to cross her
It's come to this.

What a lie the Republican Dirt People have bought into. 70% of America does not believe the state has a right to force a woman's pregnancy to term. That is not a minority, but gerrymandering and the talk radio machine have worked wonders at convincing the easily duped of their own B.S.
Yes, I was on the island when Maria hit. And Irma. And Georges, and Hugo. And David, and Federico and a couple other minor ones over the past 47 years.
Actual direct deaths from Maria were less than 50,probably closer to 20.
The 3,000 and other similar numbers are excess deaths since Maria. It includes things like people falling off a roof while fixing it, getting hit by a car at an unlit intersection as well as people dying from increased stress, illness and such.
In other words, indirectly caused by Maria.
Perhaps a bit disingenuous, perhaps not.
The real problem is how the 3000 was arrived at. One would think that one would count death certificates for, say, 6 months after Maria and compare the number to a similar period in prior years.
Nope. The 3000 is an estimate based on a survey sample. There are a number of estimates ranging from @1000 to 7000. They seem to have picked the 3000 as the highest number they thought they could get away with.
More dead people mean more of thos sweet, sweet, taxpayer dollars.

Maybe Mieller can conduct the “independent investigation.”
He’ll get back to everyone in a decade, after he gets an indictment against the current headmaster at the high school for lying about his participation in fantasy football and get Kavanaugh's 85 year old high school basketball coach on copyright infringement for taping a baseball game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball.

You're right. Unlike one-child that was normalized by a minority regime, selective-child represents the moral progression of a substantial minority. Whereas slavery was ended through a frontal assault, selective-child will be ended through moral reform. Unfortunately, abortion rites are natural rights, and will persist under a layer of privacy when there is sufficient demand.
Still, baby steps. Separation of Constitution and the Twilight Amendment is a critical step to securing human and civil rights, and restoring scientific integrity. We did it with slavery. We are working on diversity (i.e. color judgments). Denying life to relieve after birth burdens is next.

@Dickin'Bimbos, I also put a link to that open letter. Craig Venter deciphered, if you prefer that term, the genetic code. The story is in one of those books you won't read.
The "Human Genome Project" was a standard government boondoggle intended to take ten years,
It was headed by figurehead and thief of Rosalind Franklin's research He then used that insight to help Francis Crick figure out the Double Helix.
Venter used a different method and planned to patent genes to pay the expenses. The Socialists around the HGP were alarmed and then Bill Clinton saw to it that no Nobel Prize was warded from Venter's work/
Notwithstanding he has built a very successful institute at UC SD. He is also a nice guy.
Unlike you.
Big Mike - she hardly remembers anything - AND somehow it haunts her... and sends her into therapy... because of all those.... non-memories. 34 years later.
Are recovered, penumbric memories admissible as evidence?
I guess securing the operation of abortion chambers and removing probable human burdens, no matter how innocent, is that important to leftists.
Pro-Choice is two choices too late. The wicked solution is intolerable. #HateLovesAbortion
Is this ironic, or simply hilarious?
"Narcissists are just nauseating people who simply lack the sense of self necessary for taking responsibility for how nauseating they are. Sounds like you relate to at least one of them pretty well. No surprise there."

Same guy, three minutes later:
People don't see the world as it is. They see the world as they are. K especially.

Be a shame if you progressive men got a taste of some sweet false allegation.
Specially the money went to Florida and other places, that should have gone for relief efforts

How do you know Ritmo failed molecular biology? I am curious not skeptical. I can think of so many things he fails at ...
Ritmo was swanning around accusing me of not knowing molecular biology and mentioned "his major" was in molecular biology.
Why would someone not say "My degree was in..."
His nasty snarky comments have not included a denial that he did not get his degree.
His whole manner is that of a failure. Most commenters here, even the lefties like Inga and Howard, are logical and not filled with hate. Ritmo hates everyone and everything., Why ?
I started by joking that he worked at McDonalds. Now he gets all exercised about contempt for "service people."
Why the excitement ?
I ahve readily acknowledged that molecular biology did not exist when was in medical school. I had to learn it by reading Albert's The Cell.
Then I read Lewin;'s Genes XII except I began at Genes VII and kept having to buy the new edition. I did this to keep up with my medical students who know much more about it than I do.
While I was at it, I read about Crag Venter and the "Genome Wars" and finally had the chance to meet him. I wrote the highest rated review of his biography on Amazon.
He is a nice guy. After his talks he walks around in shirt sleeves with a beer in his hand.
He is also a sailor which is another bond.
Does anyone know anything about Ritmo ?
The Democrats are just now realizing they look like stupid crazy miserable assholes. And liars.
Does anyone know anything about Ritmo ?
Yeah.
He's an asshole.
Why do we even call "Professor Ford" Professor? Is "Palo Alto University" even a real school? It offers professional degrees in Psychology. BFD.
"I believe the polls on this are going to show the Dems fucking up very very big here. The non political public, which is most of the public, is calling bullshit on this. There aren't enough SJW #metooers to stave off the revulsion that is percolating."
Couldn't agree more.
It's very similar to the "children are being snatched from their parents" hysteria. The Dems and their media allies thought they had a winner of an issue. Then to their surprise it backfired, both substantively (the Obama cages, the Time magazine cover, etc.) and in the court of public opinion. The polls went Trump's way, and he rubbed their faces in it (for example, talking about victims of illegal crime being permanently separated from their parents).
I think this is the same. Most Americans believe in due process. Most men, regardless of politics, know the fear of what a false accusation of sexual misconduct can mean. And on Twitter and social media, many women are saying they don't believe Kavanaugh's accuser. Even some pro-choice Dems who don't want K on the Supreme Court are complaining about Feinstein's unfairness. So I think Trump is wise to let this play out until the Dems are hoisted by their own petard.
I've said this before here, Trump's uncanny political instincts bring to mind the book of Esther, in which a trap that was laid eventually ensnared the ones who made it. I think that's about to happen big time with the Russia collusion conspiracy. Just in time for the midterms.

Flake called me to apologize for missing the interview. He said he would support GOP push to move forward with Kavanaugh nomination if Ford does not appear at hearing. "I think we'll have to move to the markup," he said. "I hope she does (appear). I think she needs to be heard." https://twitter.com/Acosta/status/1042108838399434754 …
Meanwhile, a far more serious charge, a more recent charge, and charges corroborated by 911 calls have been leveled against Keith Ellison, running for AG of Minnesota. As a Democrat. The media is ignoring that one, or demanding the woman produce a videotape of the incident.
Double standards much?
Finally I lived to see the Democrats completely fail in their smear tactics. Really, it’s a first, at least in a long time.
Repubs finally grew a spine. Amazing. Trump has shown the way: Don’t back down. He is truly an historical president, ten times more so than Obama.
Hey..it's as possible as the fabled "pee pee tape".
Yes, she's "Professor" and "Doctor" to boot. It would be hilarious if everyone with a Ph.D. and some sort of teaching job were treated likewise.
Ford dates this incident to 1979-1982. Why then is she 15 and he 17? By her own admission, both ages are apt to be off by a couple of years in either direction. I can't tell whether she's shaded it to make herself seem as young as possible, or Kavanaugh as old as possible. Obviously, it can't be both.
So now she's not going to appear after all? I hope Kavanaugh shows up anyway, to answer any and all questions as she will not. What's certain is that she is right on DiFi's page: The point is delay, period.
Incidentally, why are we talking about Anita Hill, but still no one is mentioning Bill Clinton?
"So I don't want to play into their hands."
I believe that the phrase has often been connected to the phrase "of terrorists."
Darkisland,
The most obvious rationale for the just-short-of-3000 number for Maria is that it's almost exactly the number who died on 9/11/2001. Except that no one has done the six-months-further-on calculation for that one, of course. (Technically speaking, someone has, and added another 1600 dead, but the fact isn't generally known.)
You might protest that no one has made that comparison, but after I predicted it, someone did on the PBS News Hour tonight. Don't think it wasn't in anyone's mind.
So now she's not going to appear after all? I hope Kavanaugh shows up anyway, to answer any and all questions as she will not. What's certain is that she is right on DiFi's page: The point is delay, period.
Now, even Corker says proceed with vote if she is a no show.
SURE. She says someone impersonated her online.
"Christine Blasey Ford’s email was hacked sometime after she went public with sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Ford’s attorneys said in a Tuesday letter to Sen. Chuck Grassley."
Daily Caller
@Michelle Dulak Thomson, Brett Kavanaugh graduated from Georgetown Prep in May 1983 and Christine Blasey Ford graduated from Holton-Arms School in 1984. She says that they were both high school students when the episode occurred. Assuming that the incident happened in summer (she claims to have been wearing a swim suit under her clothing) she would have been a Freshman in 1979 and he would have been graduated in the summer of 1983. That's if the incident happened at all.
Holton-Arms is an extremely expensive prep school. It is fair to assume that she was your typical spoiled rich girl when she went to the party. Christine Blasey Ford also owns up to having been a heavy drinker during her youth, and a participant in what today we would call "hooking up."
I will say that even a prostitute can be raped, so the fact that Christine Blasey Ford was an easy lay doesn't mean she wasn't assaulted, but it also suggests an alternative scenario: that she tried to get him or his friend Mark into the bedroom herself, and that she is better because Kavanaugh interceded on behalf of his friend. Or that she tried to get Kavanaugh into the bedroom, and he threw up when he looked at her.
If she doesn't want to testify Monday, the Senate should move on without hearing her. No matter what happened, it takes an ego larger than Trump's to think that her alleged incident can be kept private while she has the FBI try and chase down something that may or may not have happened on hundreds of possible days at an unspecified location in a fairly wide geographical area.
Her testimony now isn't going to be any different than it would be after an investigation takes place assuming what she says is true - unless of course the whole point of an investigation is to allow #TheResistance within the FBI time to come up with a time and place that passes the smell test.
"So I don't want to play into their hands."
Does anyone think that this phrase has something to do with playing cards and games where the card you play affects the outcome?
Michael K
Thanks.
As in giving your opponent an opening or the discard they need.
I just got finished visiting the Doge's Palace with all the other 'inappropriate' people the NYTs misandrists decry crowding them out of their favorite places.
One of the things that I REALLY wanted to see were the 'Lion Heads', a bunch of statues set into the walls of the chamber of the Council of Ten, where anonymous letters could be deposited to smear someone.
Back when Academics, particularly legal ones, were actually worth the cost of the red wine they consume, this was widely decried as unfair, secretive, ruinous and against all the principles of our legal code.
But, hey, abortion. The right to unquestioningly kill kids is far more important than our jurisprudence system. Despite the fact that confirming him will do nothing of the sort.
But that was then and this is here and now.
"Her testimony now isn't going to be any different than it would be after an investigation takes place assuming what she says is true"
Yep
top Democrats, who are demanding an F.B.I. investigation to search for additional witnesses or evidence
The FBI is the Headquarters of the Resistance to Donald Trump.
Every FBI meeting begins with a prayer to God that the Democrats will win a House majority on November 8.
She can’t even pick out the house. Total bullshit.
What’s the FBI supposed to do, get 10,000 warrants for houses in Montgomery County to narrow it down to the 125 houses whose interior sorta fits Ford’s sorta description? Maybe one of Obama’s Hawaiian judges can sign those 10,000 warrants to search homes in Maryland but what good what it do? Is Ford going to go on a tour of 125 houses, many of which may have been remodeled in the last 36 years.
Then if she can narrow it down to a dozen, the FBI can track down the homeowners from back then and see if they or any of their kids remember Kavanaugh or a Ford? Then maybe remember a 5 person get together sometime between 1979 and 1984?
Fucking madness.
It seams likely she is working for the Russians or Chinese to disrupt the nomination process. Her Facebook history as well as all her past emails and work documents should be obtained at gunpoint if necessary. And lets investigate her and everyone she knows by a special prosecutor with unlimited powers for the next 20 years.
There’s nothing to investigate. No house and no date, not even a summer of ‘82 time period. It’s like trying to find Brigadoon
"Senator Hirono (D) wants all men in America to just shut up. And do the right thing for once too."
Tell Senator Hirono (D) that she can gobble my logster.

There is no crime for the FBI to investigate.
What law school did you fail out of? You think that a rape can only occur if the defendant admits to it or if the accuser produces physical evidence? I guess under your preferred system of laws child sexual abuse would be as natural as drinking water.
You really find it hard to think before you talk, don't you?

MORON. Rape is NOT a federal crime UNLESS the person committing it is a government employee committing the crime on government property, a military person, or someone else actually covered by the federal statute.
You are increasingly mindless.
I think the Dems game plan is to wait till the last moment, say Friday, and then have Ford agree to show up in hearing, BUT only in a couple weeks and AFTER a FBI/Independent investigation.
Yeah, I think that's the plan. And I think the Republicans will quite reasonably say "no". This is all theater for the Democrats to keep their tired "war on women" rhetoric going for 2020 fundraising.
The crushing weight of reality:
"Joe diGenova: This is utter nonsense. This is another delaying tactic. She really doesn’t want to testify because when she does she’s going to look like the loon that she is. She may very well believe everything that she’s saying and that is one of the signs of lunacy, believing something that isn’t real. But her lawyer is even loonier. The FBI is not going to investigate a non-federal matter of an alleged assault that is unconfirmed by even the witness herself. She’s not sure when it happened, where it happened, who else was present. She never reported it to anybody."
Trump is right to keep this front and center.
The democrats look absolutely depraved and desperate.
You people need to be looking forward to this conflict. This is how we are going to win.
What the democrats did was indefensible and the mask is completely off now.
#walkaway might have been banned from facebook. But they can't deal with the truth.
Everybody who was anybody wanted to believe that whackjob pole dancer/knife fighter in Duke LaCrosse. It’s just as clear (to me at least) that this accusation is just as bogus. The only positive is that DiFi revealed herself to be the corrupt hack some of us suspected.
People who respond to trolls enable them to continue. If you simply ignore them, they have no feedback encouragement to post. It really is that simple.
I do occasionally break this rule myself, but not often, and really only with people who are on the borderline of what an internet troll is. You have two options- ignore the the trolls, or engage with them, but if you do engage, you forfeit the right to complain about them shitting all over the thread. Choose.

You can't spell Hirono without O NO!
There must have been millions upon millions of people who at some time in their youth had a little too much to drink and have trouble remembering about it. Think of all the improvable accusations that can be made on that fact. A veritable goldmine for female creatures without morality.
From first comment on the thread by Buster, quoting the WP;
"... is enough to disqualify him unless the accusation can be disproven ..."
Clearly, what is needed is a law ordering every male of the species to keep a diary where they write their activities of the day, in detail and timestamped.
This should be done from the time they can read and write but no later then say the age of nine. To be sure a competent social worker, well instructed in SJW social science, should sign off the diaries every day.
And, of course, there's the fact that Kavanaugh's mother was the judge in Blasie Ford's parents house foreclosure back in the day. I saw the pictures of the docket which confirm this. So she may have a personal animus for making this unverifiable accusation.
If it's possible to get through the abhorrent sexism on this board, I'm wondering if you all see what I see: that the only way Republicans get out of this is by turning this into a trial, with witnesses facing a single female prosecutor and the Dems responsible for the burden of proof. I'd be interested in the Professor's opinion on this, in the unlikely event that she's still monitoring this thread.
So after a weekend of BS, all we know for certain is that DiFi has better game than Booker. Otherwise, it was the same game of smearing Kavanaugh and trying to delay the inevitable.
This is how you got Trump and will get more of him. This is the absolute perfect example of why voters went for Trump. Kavanaugh has a stellar career, yet even our host finds it abhorrent, and therefore must believe any created transgressions in order to demonize. It is all effort to maintain a status quo that has given us 8 years of malaise, a discredited IRS and FBI, and a judicial system in which your guilty if they say so, if not of the originally described crime then of lying because your claim of innocence is backed up by someone's claim of your guilt.
Senator Hirono’s comment did not go unnoticed in the Twitterverse. One person tweeted “The Democrats are not sending us their best.”
Another responded “I’m afraid they are.”
Instapundit has the link; there are numerous other replies along the same lines.

I don't know how you can't play the Democrats hand:
If she does not come forward to 'testify' - which is likely as the narrative has been set that she is receiving death threats and has had to go into hiding for fear of her life. Appearing in person would put her in harms way (according to that narrative).
This paints the republicans - and men (they are just evil!) - in a bad light and is part of the stage for the mid term frenzy (of course, this simply works up the hard core leftists perform their moon howling).
If they go forward with the vote, it again, reinforces the above.
Delay until after the mid-terms, is probably the best to hope for - from a purely political standpoint. The right thing to do is just vote and have done with it. The slimeball Democrats will play shitty regardless: they have no interest in making things better for anyone or running a country.

Ford's attorney threw out a tidbit a day or so ago. She says there was another girl at the party.
Seems a bit more inconsistency in the tale.
But....
It could indicate Dr. Ford is "gaining" memories.
Or....
There will be another last second, "We've found the girl! And she will back Ford's story! But she can't come forward right now, though she will cooperate with the FBI investigation."
I have a question for all those who think that the Kavanaugh vote is about ending abortion: the senate, house, and presidency are all controlled by Republicans who could pass a law making abortion illegal. In the past, the Dems controlled all the levers and could've written the opposite law. The Supreme Court has been publicized because Congress isn't doing it's job, and wants to keep hot button issues to control the masses. Pumpkin spice isn't the cause of our division, merely a symptom.
"The Democrats are just now realizing they look like stupid crazy miserable assholes. And liars."
That's because they are stupid crazy miserable assholes and liars.
I vowed to never vote for a Democrat after their disgusting antics in the wake of 9/11. They've done nothing since to make me regret that decision.
"We've found the girl! And she will back Ford's story! But she can't come forward right now, though she will cooperate with the FBI investigation."
Best explanation I've heard of the next move.
I have a question for all those who think that the Kavanaugh vote is about ending abortion: the senate, house, and presidency are all controlled by Republicans who could pass a law making abortion illegal.
They could, but the Supreme Court could then rule that such a law violates the Constitution, and strike it down. It would require an amendment to the Constitution. But the Left has laid the groundwork to resist that also.
In California, the people tried to amend the California Constitution to prevent same-sex marriage. The California Supreme Court ruled that amending the California Constitution that way violated the California Constitution.
We've heard from Professor Hill on the hand-over-her-mouth rape matter; now we need to hear from Clarence Thomas's ugly, lying ass, or else it is just a he lied, she didn't high-tech lynching for uppity rats who cannot tell the truth to save their life. Let there be no doubting Thomases about lying Thomas, or lying Kavanaugh. Clarence the Clown was erected on to the Supreme Court by Republican rats who had no shame, such as Urrin Hatch of Utah Stake-thru-your-heart fame who is still in the Senate as rotten and decaying as ever. At long last, have you left no sense of decency, Urrin? I cringe at the sound of his squirrelly voice. He is no member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He's just a member with no balls.

In general, the Supreme Court doesn't void law that's voted in by Congress. For example: Lilly Ledbetter's suit was ruled unconstitutional, but a law was passed clarifying the law. I'm a chemist and no expert at this, perhaps some legal mind could clear up this point. I still stand by my original post that the Supreme Court is politicized because the Congress is not doing its job.
