I really hope people on the left keep making these wild accusations. I can't think of anything better to motivate the Republican base this November.

Find an accuser to come forward against every male Dem Senator. And the husbands of every female Dem Senator. Start with Gillibrands husband.

I had reached that conclusion a while ago (I retired in 2015). Althouse doesn’t care. She’s got hers.

Big Mike said...

@mccullough, I like the way you think!

Big Mike said...

Oops. I know what’s wrong with your idea mccullough. It won’t work. Look up in Minnesota, where Karen Monahan has medical reports, police reports, and even videotape, and no one (except those stinkin’ Republicans) gives a rat’s patootie.

Althouse least of all.

Away from Kavanaugh for a moment. Over in North Carolina a woman has been arrested for practicing veterinary medicine without a license after she rescued over two dozen pets left behind and abandoned when their owners evacuated in the face of Florence. Some were, apparently, still chained and might have drowned.

But she’s not a hero to the authorities, she’s a perpetrator.

North Carolina has a Democrat Governor. Coincidence?

This is a war, and there are no rules.

In a war there is no point in examining the ammunition shot off by the enemy, other than perhaps for the purpose of reverse-engineering it, or discovering its weaknesses.

There certainly isn't an ethical or emotional implication in every shell. They are munitions, intended to harm you in the first place, and their nature should be, at best, of technical interest.

The opponents are owed nothing, nor do they owe you anything.

Long ago, perhaps, one could assume the contest was civil and orderly and both sides could assume a degree of mutual trust and mutual interests. But this was fundamentally changed long ago, though the realization has been slow in coming.

"No good deed a man does for a woman will go unpunished."

So far, this goes too far. It's not mainly about men and women.

It's about progressivism.

Kavanaugh has led an exemplary professional life, earning strong support from the adult women who actually know him. His actual good deeds do not go unpunished.

It's just that good deeds are no defense against prog attacks, from spurious smears like Althouse's there-must-be-a-dark-side to the Dem Fording ambush. By the same token, bad deeds do go unpunished if perpetrated by a politically important figure. So they keep Menendez on board, squelch the Ellison accusations, and still invite Bill to their conventions.

As the Universal Theory of Progressive Instrumentalism implies, male vilification and assault allegations are tools, to be adapted to specific situations as needed.

God loves us all.

Some triumph in the cruel words launched at Kavanaugh. Others don't.

Congressman Ellison is not happy. There is probably at least one female Supreme Court Justice who is grateful, tonight, that nobody questioned her about the lies someone told about her abortions, back in the day.

We all have a friend in Jesus. It is no small thing to be kind to a sad little cat who just wants a home to live in, or to a dog who needs to love and be loved. I remember. And it is not even a small thing to be a kind friend to someone who is successful in life - a respected teacher, an honored lawyer, an angelic preacher, an angel or an archangel or even someone more powerful than that. To build on that thought - it is not like any of us who have been lucky enough in life to be, at this day and hour, alive and fairly content, and to be "striving in the arena" as little Teddy Roosevelt (the paradigm Richie Rich, for those who remember those Harvey comic books) used to say, have a genuine need for honesty and kindness - no it is not that - or is it? It is just that the universe God created requires us - just as the skies require a cloud in a blue sky to go across that blue sky, in one direction or another, or stay in the same place in the same blue sky, there are no other options, really - to be kind and honest. Heart speaks to heart: God loves us all: God wants us to act towards him as we would act towards any other deserving friend with whom we have gone through hard times - live not by lies.

Big Mike said...

@Gahrie, Karen Monahan would agree. I’ve seen a poll that says that only 5% of Minnesota Democrats believe her report of being physically abused by Keith Ellison, former Congressman, former #2 in the DNC, and current candidste for the Minnesota AG, notwithstanding medical reports of her injuries, police reports, and even videotape.

Ken B said...

Does anyone remember Ned Flanders? When someone said something he did not want to hear he would cover his ears and chant “cruel neutrality “ over and over.

narciso said...

Yes that's the purpose of it, when they make nail bombs, then again Ellison isn't questioned about it 24/7

Gahrie said...

At the base of all of this madness is a complete lack of shame of our nation's elites. The Democratic Senators should be ashamed, Ford should be ashamed, Ramirez should be ashamed and everyone willing to support these efforts, including the MSM, should be ashamed.

buwaya said...

War is impersonal, modern war especially.
Kind, Christian, compassionate men, flying over Tokyo, burned hundreds of thousands of innocents to death. Men in this situation act as parts of a machine. And modern wars are contests between machines.

In this, so far cultural, social, political war, you are fighting exactly such a machine. You are still, however, disorganized individuals constrained by individual ethics. You are not yet a machine.

Arashi said...

You actually have to have sense of decency in order to feel shame for violating that. None of the people mentioned by Gahrie have that, or morals and ethics. They seek power and destruction for those they disagree with. It is war and the other side has not figured that out yet.

narciso said...

You get a sense of that, with what happened to bolsanero a few weeks ago in Brazil, what we saw happen with pim fortyn a decade ago.

True, Stephen, but the man of prediction (2 thrssalonians) has purchase on this world, he is identified in revelations.

Big Mike said...

@Stephen Cooper, I look at what’s happening in America’s politics, I look at what happened with sexual abuse of minors in the Catholic Church, and I can only conclude that Jesus forsook the United States a long time ago. I am an atheist. There’s a reason.

stephen cooper said...

Narciso - The Book of Revelation is one of my two favorite books in the Bible - I have a lot of nostalgia for the wonderful beauty I have seen and experienced in the past, in this world, but the future is where most of the good that is going to happen to those I care about is going to happen, and the book of Revelation is where such good things are most completely described (along with the bad things that are also described in the passage of Thessalonians you quoted).

My other favorite book is Philippians. Paul wrote lots of books (letters, to be accurate) and Philippians is the one where he most stopped talking about concepts of grace, free will, covenants, salvation, and so on, and just spoke, friend to friend, to people he cared about, about the friendship of God for all of us if we only accept it.

I mean, the Gospels are good too, but they (all four of them) have a long description of the Crucifixion in them. I don't yet have the heart to think that Easter is some super great holiday since it is only three days after a good friend was killed. I mean, it is a great holiday, of course, but - seriously, no matter how good the news is, if I get the news three days after a good friend has been killed, I am not going to be as joyful as I should be. I am only human, after all. I prefer Christmas, which would have been a holiday even if Good Friday were not, tragically, necessary.

stephen cooper said...

Big Mike - evil people have always been with us.

The Catholic church belongs only to God, and, in a less direct way, to the good people in it. The unrepentant evildoers who have covered up for those who abuse minors - and that includes people at the highest ranks, some living, some long dead - have no right to say the Catholic church is the church they belong to.

In the Renaissance, there was a pope who rounded up the poor young women of Rome who had, once or more than once, taken money for sexual acts, and had them driven out to the countryside to be raped and murdered by the barbarians. In the years before the Byzantine schism, there were people who called for the murder of Jews over property disputes. Evildoers have always tried to seek power through the church. Don't let them also discourage you. You are a child of God and the church is yours more than it is the church of those evildoers.

Pray for justice. They are all dead, the Renaissance evildoers and the earlier evildoers, and even poor Pope Francis - not to mention several other recent popes -either already know, or will soon know, that God is not mocked.

Well Easter is the sign of his grueling death burial and resurrection, not only physical but the exposure to sin, as cs Lewis said, if none of this is real than i must be a mad man

narciso said...

It is about his gift to us, the supreme sacrifice. True around the time of the middle ages the Church acquired the trappings of power, civil authority and all that entails.

Big Mike said...

@Stephen Cooper, I am aware of all of that. My testimony stands.

Lewis, these calumnies do not rise to the level of rape. This is butt-pinching. Frottage and waggling? What chicken-feed. Give us some PIV, then we'll talk.

K's real offense (had it been true) was not rubbing on Ford, nor even being frustrated by her layers, but the hand over her mouth. You can rape a woman, you can cut her into little pieces, you can take everything she has, but the one thing you must never do is to try and shut her up.

Recall when Harry Reid (D-Bowflex) changed the senate rules for voting on judges? The commie-pinko Dems thought the office of the President was their's in perpetuity. That torpedo circled back.

Now the back aforementioned slime balls have destroyed the SCOTUS hearing process. What goes around, comes around. Of course this assumes the GOP will acquire a spine at some point, which is iffy at best.

Two weeks ago, I was in Tombstone AZ and met a women who lives in Alberta, north of Edmonton. It was 95 in Tombstone that day and I commented she was a long way south. She laughed and said that was sure true. It was snowing where she lived that day. I said at least you have oil up there and she said her husband has a trucking company and is busy with oil sands. She on the other had was planning to stay in Arizona for a while.

She didn't mention for how long but I got the idea it might be until Spring,
