"We have 2.7 percent unemployment, an opioid crisis that has significantly impacted employability and the reality of an aging population that will absolutely require direct service care at some point."

Said a professor quoted in "New Hampshire, 94 Percent White, Asks: How Do You Diversify a Whole State?" (NYT).

"How Do You Diversify a Whole State?" is one question. Why do you want to diversify the whole state? is another. And it is the question the quote I picked out seems to answer. The state needs a lot of health-care workers to tend to the existing sick and unemployable population.

You don't need to diversify to get health care workers. You just need to raise the amount you are willing to pay. That will likely draw in a more diverse workforce. But diversity was never the need.

Maine and New Hampshire should be given to Mexico.

Then the Mexicans can migrate easily to Canada.

Also note that at least part of the problem is government entitlement programs. Medicare and Medicaid pay for services where the recipient is located. If the individual was paying with their own money, they would have incentive to move to where the cheap labor already existed.

Or: why do you think "diversifying" is the answer to your care-giving problem?

It couldn't be because, being white and all up in NH, you think care is a low-wage job for dumb, low-skill, "diverse" minorities, do you?

When you get old in New Hampshire, move to Mexico.

It costs a lot to send Spanish speaking kids of below average intelligence to US schools. Instead of raising taxes to pay for this, creating a large and permanent underclass, it’s easier to raise taxes to pay nourishing home and home health care workers more. There are US citizens, born and raised here, who do this.

Also, let’s not forget the robots. When they can cut the lawns and raise the kids of the wealthy, the Mexicans (and Jamaicans, etc) won’t be needed anymore. All because wealthy whites people, especially progressives, don’t want to hire blacks (or pay whites more). It makes them feel like white people in Mississippi in the 1950s with The Help. Too exploitative. They don’t feel bad about exploiting The Wetbacks.

For the latter, they need to address asset inflation schemes that make employment at tech and other companies without tangible products attractive to our Posterity.

They need to address immigration reform that harms prospects of labor on the left-hand side of the bell curve.

They need to address so-called "free trade" with nations that do not conform with labor and environmental regulations (i.e. implicit tariffs) in our own nation, thereby creating an illusion of affordability while driving down wages (and increasing welfare) and employment.

They need to address the cost of education in a system that is the most expensive in the world and does not produce in even the top ten. The same with medical care where the costs are progressive and not service-oriented.

They need to address Planned Parenthood including selective-child and population control schemes that harm native diversity (i.e. people) and sustainability.

To diversify the state you first start by forced diversity of the family unit. All relationships need to be licensed by the state which would require quotas for family membership representing all races.

Eventually, we can move to personal diversity with every citizen being multiracial. I wonder if we still have the building plans for Saddam's rape rooms.

Yes, we need Planned Parent (PP) to reduce the disparity between young and old populations. I believe that liberals from yesteryear were concerned that our society was intolerant of euthanasia to promote quality of life and social progress.

Market misalignments forced by single-payer (e.g. insurance regulation, Medicare, Medicaid) and other monopoly practices contributes to the problem through promotion of artificial payment and cost structures. We don't need medical care reform. We have world-class products and services. We need health care (i.e. self-moderating, responsible individuals and education) and regulatory reform.

When and if healthcare workers become in short supply, the value of a health care worker will rise as will their pay. If it pays more, maybe some of those white people will be inclined to take the job. Apparently nobody in New Hampshire takes any sort of low paying job now.

Indeed.

Disturbingly typical that most of the responses here to decidedly unsubtle anti-white propaganda are variants of "see, liberals are the real racists!".

Sure, the people behind the editorial decisions are looking for cheap labor (subsidized by tax-payer-funded social services) for their own benefit. But when the prestige, mainstream press is pumping out nasty "these kinds of people are problematic" propaganda (and "these kinds of people" are people like me and mine), day after day, year after year, my first reaction isn't to feel a need to establish my non-racist bona fides.

The only way "critical race theory" can explain contemporary support for mass immigration is to define "white majority" to mean "minority of whites who benefit from mass immigration and useful idiots who don't, but are dumb enough to buy their propaganda". It's not very useful in illuminating the opposition to current levels of migration among the actual "white majority".

Isn't it interesting that therapists are seeing the reaction to Trump as a disorder?!

You don't have to study much history to know the terrifying effects that authoritarian tyrants leave throughout their populations - leading up to and especially during their reign. The devastating effects they leave will necessarily include the psychological. Just study Russia, Nazi Germany, it's not hard to find examples. The first casualty an authoritarian inflicts is on people's sense of stability and reliability, starting with their efforts to clamp down on speech and assaults on the truth - which Trump does every day.

An objective understanding of the truth is very important to most psychologically intact adults. But it's understandable if that's not the case for individuals with certain Cluster B personality disorders and other weak-minded people. And social psychology experiments show that a substantial minority percentage of every population will have ready-made authoritarians who are so attracted to ruthlessness and cruelty that they are ready to sacrifice everything that the rest of the population values simply to support a leader who will demonstrate dominance by abusing every norm and as many people as he wants to.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

The ability for Trump Cultists to stretch the truth is not hard to find. When Comey remarked on Trump's lack of any sense of humor, I mentioned that to your authoritarian commenters and, predictably, encountered resistance. So I asked them for a clip of Trump ever actually laughing... or even being comfortable enough with himself to just let down his guard an allow himself to laugh. They couldn't find any but like any self-deluded authoritarian butthole surely still persisted in their misapprehension.

Authoritarians rely on lies. They simply cannot govern through the truth. The emperor has no clothes - or in this case, a credible hairpiece.

My wife and I drove up from NYC to August Maine and back last month. Very nice time.

We stopped for dinner at a HomeStyle Buffet (Old Country Buffet to mid-westerners)in Portland around 5PM one day. It was pretty crowded. Depending on how you count us, there were only 2-3 tables with whites.

Everyone else, we divined from the women, was Muslim. The women were completely wrapped up. I remembered something about Somalis in Maine and looked in the book of knowledge. Somali population of Portland is about 5,000 or about 7.5% of total population.

Another 5,000 live in nearby Lewiston, making up about 13% of population.

2 things I found interesting:

The women I saw seem to be heavily tatooed. Not that I could see much, the only part that was uncovered was the face and hands. There was a young woman at a table next to us who seemed drop dead gorgeous. I think the Hijab may have accentuated rather than detracted from the beauty. At first I thought she was wearing lace gloves. It was actually a very intricate design of fine, dark blue lines completely covering her hands and wrists, maybe her whole are.

The other thing is how they came to be in Maine. There is probably a lot more to this but it appears that when the US govt agreed to resettle them, they sent them to live in Atlanta in housing projects. The Somalis said "Fuck this" and sent out scouts. The scouts found Portland and said "Pretty nice up here, lots of jobs and good housing, come on up."

This massive influx has caused some troubles and tensions. I guess this is to be expected when all of a sudden your population increases by 10% and the incomers are completely different. Overall it seems to have worked out more or less OK, the little I found. I was impressed by the idea that they had to stay in the shithole where the govt planted them, they realized that this is American and they could go find the streets paved with gold.

Trump laughing. That took a whole 10 seconds.

Fake. Exaggerated. One-time. Rare. Done in the company of his Russian masters to demonstrate submission to them when revealing Israeli secrets on Syrian military maneuvers.

Have you ever made anyone laugh? Do you read facial expressions well? When the face is that strained, the artificially whitened teeth that heavily borne, the redness of his forced deflectionary fake laugh that loud due to that many blood vessels working overtime through his visage to conceal his actual emotions, it's fake. Fake beyond belief.

When people laugh they relax. They loosen up. They are not constrained, like his heavily reddened face. He looks like he's going to have an aneurysm in a facial blood vessel in those photos. That's not what laughter does.

Bull fucking shit. She lost the 2008 primary and the 2016 presidential to a Nazi-lite. Past general losers do not become subsequent candidates. Now you're just spouting outright stupidity.

She looks like moderation compared to the current DNC direction.

You keep focusing on those looks, and phony bipartisanship. She is right-wing. A corporatist. A militant imperialist. She doesn't give a shit about any progressive issues. Ronald Reagan would be a Democrat today. Your party has so gerrymandered the country's districts and forced your primary candidates to run so far to the far-right, that you mistake yourself into thinking that the right-wing is the center. Poll the country on Bernie's positions vs. what Trump is actually doing. You do not know what support there is for the actual policies. You probably don't even know what the actual policy proposals really are.

http://www.dailycamera.com/news/boulder/ci_32037773/boulder-prides-itself-being-welcoming-all-but-its

Boulder doesn't even have very many fat people. My kid and I noticed that when they came there for an REU in physics there 9 years ago. We got there the day of the Bolder-Boulder race. Entire families of four, with less fat on them than I have now, even after losing 30 lbs. Probably for both the parents together was less excess weight than when I was in college. But, then, my kid went back for a PhD there, and ran the race the last two years. And, of course, their research group was just like that - with all the guys with BMI well under 10% and the girls not far behind them. About the only color at their dissertation defense were one Chinese and one Iranian (Aryan). And a couple of the people on the committee were about as heavy as I, but one had an excuse - they had flown in from MN. Scary.

The other weird thing I noticed was the quantity of sports equipment (for very white sports, of course). 5 grad students in the house translated into roughly 10 bikes (down from the previous year because the girl with the 5 bikes graduated), and > 10 pair of skis. They didn't all have cars, but pretty much all had two bikes, and two or more pair of skis. Loved it when, at the defense, their advisor's spouse told me "oh, you didn't know that your kid crashed riding their bicycle in the snow last winter, and the bruises have finally faded, just in time for their defense?" Not sure if their mother knows yet - but they crashed again maybe a month ago, and they can't use snow as an excuse this time.

She was "against" the TPP after Bernie forced her to be. Ditto trade. His faction is beating hers in the primaries.

Borders are primarily an issue in either blue states that will already vote blue or red states that will go red. Not many swing states along the southern border. Sharpen up, sparky.

Immigration anxiety is a 2nd-choice option for trade laborers to be enticed by once the political elite class have made it clear that they will not raise their status or wages or market demand any other way. People don't go for xenophobia when they're well-compensated or their job protections guaranteed. But of course that won't do for Trump and his cultish and hateful followers.

NH Native here - going back generations, too.

Not one of the people quoted in the article is a NH native. That's true of about half the population at this point, so no surprise. Yet it bears mentioning that these are people who have come up here because of some great job, lifestyle, culture, or environment that they liked and then said "You're doing it all wrong up here. You should want things to look different when you walk down the street." And BTW, what is the expertise of a psychology professor in why and how a state needs to diversify its economy.

I'm also wondering if those are the people who are secretly thinking we need diversity because of the jobs white people won't do. NH is 94% white, and it was almost 99% when I was growing up. Guess what? We had landscapers and LNA's then! How can it be? And we still have mostly white landscapers and LNA's now! People might hope for better jobs, but I have never in my life heard anyone even hint that those jobs were beneath white people somehow. They aren't shameful* jobs. We approve of work up here. Or we used to. We get it that sometimes work is hard and sometimes jobs are scarce. Who the hell are these people who say otherwise?

I'd love to identify those folks and kick them out, frankly.

New Yorkers moved up and ruined Vermont. Massholes came up and ruined NH.

*Working for the government, now, sometimes we think that's a shameful job.

Political polarization is the new hotness.

A recent post at Redstate illustrated the fact that
"in 2016, 70% of U.S. voters lived in "landslide precincts" (20%+ margin either way), up from 64% in 2012."

The Map is pretty clear. America is self segregating and the divisions are getting deeper by the hour. The blue state model is become more and more limited to big cities and the coast. Assimilation is a thing of the past. As was evidenced by the last election the electoral college will tell the tale. Unless it is repealed it will result in an even bigger win by the God Emperor in 2020. It will not matter how high the numbers that the Democrats rack up in California using illegal immigrant voters. The majority of counties are going red and will continue to do so. Despite the wailing and knashing of teeth by libtards and the media.

This also explains the attempt to infect so many out of the way areas with illegal immigrants to dilute the votes of real Americans. The thing is they tend to congregate with their own kind. Just like all human beings do. So they will group together and not spread out to affect more districts. Which leads to more majority counties. Which leads to more single party districts in Congress. Or single party states like California. How is that working out for them?

You mean the author who wrote "a town with a crushingly white majority population"?

"Crushingly white."

Kemba Douglas stands outside The Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall on July 9. Douglas filed a discrimination complaint with Colorado's Civil Rights Division after she says a hostess at the Lazy Dog sat her in the back of the restaurant, following a prolonged wait, and ignored a request for better seating, despite many open tables. Steve Ross, the Lazy Dog's owner, characterized the incident as a misunderstanding."

Oh the horror and Jeebus, what a supercilious little remora bitch.

"Many open tables": Reservations: Reservations Accepted, Reservations Recommended

Chart o' Horror shows that "racial complaints" are increasing at the same rate as non-racial complaints.

"Gilmore says being a black businessman in Boulder means waking a fine line, being black enough to avoid accusations of whitewashing from black customers,"

Gosh darn those completely non-racist black customers.

One awful thing about Boulder is the traffic, which really is racist.

The level of ignorance of both history and economics on display in this story is truly staggering.

NH has long been populated by immigrants. In the mid-19th century the huge textile mills in Manchester responded to the post-Civil War labor shortage by importing young British women known for their skill in the production of gingham. Because suitable living conditions for these young women were lacking, special housing was provided for them women by the corporation that owned the mills. And the fact that many of them were brought in at the same time eliminated the problem of who they would feel culturally comfortable with. Other factories throughout the state have relied heavily on French-Canadian immigrants, who greatly enhanced the vibrancy of the local cuisine through their diverse culture.

These immigrants somehow found their way to these jobs without the assistance of any aspiring central planners in the state government--one might say it was as if they were led there by an invisible hand. Or the not-so-invisible recruitment efforts of the owners of the mills and factories.

This revives my America Without Borders plan. Senior citizens can swap places with Mexicans, Central Americans, South Americans. One American senior citizen registers to live in Mexico or Ecuador or wherever and one citizen of that country can live and work in America. Each of you can own property, drive etc. but not vote. ICE keeps the numbers equal. So you don't stay in NH with steadily worsening arthritis; you go to the sunny south where living is cheaper. And they don't stay in deepening poverty; they go where there are jobs. For awhile there's going to be steady increase in the number of senior citizens so the open borders visas could be extended for as long as people want.

PS In New Hampshire blacks had voting rights before the Catholics did

C'mon, Squeamish. You are not really that uneducated and ignorant, are you? No need for a redneck dictionary. Merriam-Webster does just fine:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/crocked

It defines crocked with one word "Drunk"

It gives the example, "she found that after only three drinks she would be completely crocked"

I usually call her "Crooked Hillary" but a few weeks ago my spell check corrected it (or I typoed it) as "Crocked". Given her well known love of the tipple, I figured it works just as well and am now using both.

Hillary Clinton had been drinking vodka the morning of a New Jersey campaign rally and was “visibly intoxicated,” a law enforcement source told True Pundit.

“She’d been hitting it (alcohol) early,” one member of Clinton’s Secret Service security detail told True Pundit.

Amazingly, the source acknowledged it wasn’t the first time Clinton enjoyed multiple cocktails prior to taking the stage at a campaign rally, fundraiser, or television appearance.

“It’s happened before but not that early in the day,” the source said.

You can find plenty more. I know you don't like our president but there is at least one thing even you can't accuse him of. He is not a lush.

Hillary Clinton is a fascist? I thought the person I was talking to said she was a criminal, right-wing or politically relevant.

I don't know if that was me you were addressing but:

Yes, Crooked/Crocked Hillary is a fascist. She has always claimed to be a progressive but even you have never tried to explain any ideological difference between Mussolini's Fascism and American progressivism.

Read Mussolini's Doctrine of Fascism to learn what Fascism was/is. Free copy here http://www.worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Germany/mussolini.htm

Better yet, buy a copy through Ann's portal and help carry your weight around here.

Criminal? I think what I have said is probably criminal. I may have said that she is criminal from time to time but don't specifically remember. I've definitely said that she is as crooked as a corkscrew. I'll be happy to explain if you like.

Right wing? Not me. I've always said she was a progressive/fascist. Decidedly un-right wing.

Politically relevant? I still say yes. She will never hold elective office again. She may run for president in 20. Barring another stroke or the like I'll be surprised if she doesn't. Nobody else will get serious about running until she announces one way or the other. Nobody will donate significant money until she announces one way or another. So yes, still very much politically relevant, although mostly as a negative force at this point, sucking oxygen from other dems.

I don't know if that was me you were addressing -

When in doubt, assume it's not.

Four presidents ran after losing previously: Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, Richard Nixon.

I know Republicans don't understand the concept of the present tense or successful precedents (since they're so busy trying to repeat failures) but it doesn't look like that is a track record that will be repeated any time soon.

Even if you count multiple losers, this only happened twice after the end of the 19th century: Adlai Stevenson and Thomas Dewey.

Republicans show their paranoia and penchant for the bizarre when they obsess about the social irrelevancy that is Hillary Clinton as if she were running again. She has nothing to address within the current climate and any DNC lackeys of hers lose power with every primary. No one who's not in the tank for Trump is interested in seeing as proven a born loser as she is continuing to lose on their behalf to the even bigger joke of a loser known as Donald Trump.

Right-wingers obsess over her and their fear of her simply because she makes them feel their wrinkled old white nut sacks tighten up a notch, and that toxic male anxiety response is the most sexual feeling most of them get to experience in any given year of their tired old lives.

Republicans really are quite remarkable. A Democratic Socialist unseats the congressional leadership heir apparent in the Bronx, in NYC, where the Democratic machine is stronger than anywhere else, and they think the left is still too dumb to finally read the tea leaves. Maybe the right was too dumb to misread the implications of Eric Cantor's unseating, but the left is not as stupid as the right. The woman who couldn't (and still can't) figure out how (or even why) to send an economic message that would actually resonate in four swing states with heavy traditional Democratic constituency appeals in labor and manufacturing that she lost to the lying bozo Trump will not be running again. For that to happen the left would have to be dumber than the right, and they aren't. Finally the progressives will be taking over and taking the country back to its powerful industrial, FDR-led roots. I think right-wingers read this and have no choice but to agree and even silently consent. Deep down they know that they and their disastrous, toxic brew of Reagonomics and social traditionalism are a spent force. Outsourcing, downsizing and de-industrialization began with their hero Reagan in the first place. The prescription has failed for quite some time in any form other than as a temporary pep pill elixir. It's like prescribing alcohol for depression. It stops working sooner than you think. The country caught on long ago, no matter how much power the Republicans have kept the rest of the country from obtaining. And Trump wouldn't have even won if he'd not pretended to notice all this during his own campaign.

One of the great ironies of Hillary’s campaign is that the email/private server issue that bedeviled her whole campaign was known to everyone through the Democratic primaries. Every voter who pulled the lever for her knew she might be facing serious legal troubles down the road. The FBI investigation of Clinton started in JULY of 2015 and it was widely believed to be serious. After all, there are people who have gone to jail for being less careless with classified information than Hillary Clinton. In fact, the general assumption most Republicans (myself included) make is that if Hillary hadn't been treated as “above the law” by James Comey, she’d be in jail today for what she did. So, yes, she deserved those “lock her up” chants and James Comey didn’t hurt her campaign so much as gave her a huge break. After all, it’s hard to show up at campaign rallies if you’re sitting in prison. "

that's a really interesting post, because much of what you're suggesting a progressive/left government would do is already being done because better trade deals, ending implicit tariffs, strengthening domestic heavier industries, etc. are all key aspects of Trump's agenda. I'm also pleased to see the powerful Dem machine take a big hit with Crowley losing to Ocasio Cortez, but a fresh-faced 28 yo beating a hack machine politico isn't exactly a clear win for any particular ideological platform. abandon for a moment the labels "GOP" and "Democrat," right and left, and pay closer attention to how people are behaving, what this administration is enacting in terms of legislation, where it's headed directionally in terms of bilateral and multilateral foreign relations. I think PPPT, if you leave aside those labels and forget about the personalities involved, you might find yourself highly supportive of most of the Trump administration's initiatives. I don't believe that's an accident, either. Trump is not a partisan and not ideological, and all too happy to pick up a good notion wherever it may have originated in the political and ideological landscape.
