They have to be talking about the milkman, the kind of milkman who no longer exists, the milkman who brought fresh milk every couple of days, in glass bottles, and when he delivered the new bottles he took away the empties; the kind of milkman who would, if asked, have on hand bottles of fresh cream and butter; and to boot, he wore a uniform, a sharp, crisp uniform.
That's who they're talking about. He not only wanted to be loved, he was loved. Especially by the little children who looked out the window awaiting his arrival. Yah!

While this guy MAY be indulging in passive aggressive behavior, I can see far worse people in this world. The woman* who made the comment for one.
No doubt she enjoys the benefits the 'sainthood' offers her, but she seems fairly comfortable disparaging a person for it.
God forbid she is forced to live in a neighborhood where everyone has HER attitude, which would be 2/3 of a Hobbesian quote: Nasty and Brutish.
If living next to a 'white saint' is such a burden for her to force civility, maybe she should move to 'the hood' and see what the alternative is like.
*The context and the direction of that disparagement leads me to make that assumption.

Mr Rogers. Note: he "wanted" to be a saint. Past tense. And now he is "middle class white privilege" icon. And what is an icon? A picture of a person no longer living who is a saint.
Speaking of privilege, a kid in Wisconsin has responded to Walkout Wednesday by walking out in favor of the Second Amendment on Wednesday, today. The school admin seems to have been slightly stressed at the sight of independent thought. But maybe others should try it. Walkout Wednesday for your beliefs. it really just counter-protesting and is a right as much as any other protest.
