"You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa."
Tweets Rose McGowan, quoted in "Rose McGowan Singles Out the ‘Hypocrisy’ of Meryl Streep and Other Actresses Planning Golden Globes Protest" (NY Magazine).

Rose has the right idea to expose these Hollywood hypocrites.
The reckoning has gone from virtue signalling to meta-virtue signalling.
Neither is distinguishable from vice.
On Pig Harvey, aside from crimes, it's none of your business.
With regard to men, women have a strain of evil that is probably what makes them interesting.
Domestication ought to be the goal.
The goal of soap opera hysteria is to thwart domestication and stay with the evil.
Rosie could have suggested they show up duct tape over their mouths.
I read that as a Trump tweet initially.
Food fight between two whores.
It does sound like a Trump tweet.
Rose was silent for years but we're supposed to conclude others' silence is the problem? Maybe a little more respect for non-perpetrators choices is appropriate.
I think Rose's 15 minutes are up.
Rose was bought off for $100,000. Meryl got a far larger price for her silence.
I get Rose's anger though. She got bought because she thought she had no support. If she called on these A list actresses, she'd have been laughed at by them, because 'she's just a little talentless eye-candy and lucky to get the chance to even pay for her part with sex'. After all, that one model who WENT TO THE POLICE and WORE A WIRE failed to hit Weinstein at all. What chance did Rose have?
And further, WHAT IS MERYL STREEP SAYING NOW? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. How many creeps has she revealed? None. Whom did she know who was abused and how did she out an abuser? Silence.
Did MERYL ever have to give up the goodies for a role? VAST SILENCE. Talk about potentially tarnishing your reputation! It would put an ass-ter-X right next to those Oscars if she did. Ouch!
Meryl et al are posturing and seeking virtue on the cheap and noting that fact isn't out of line, though perhaps with a bit less bile on Roses' part.
Silliest protest ever. They're all going to wear Sexy Black.
“YOUR SILENCE is THE problem."
Silence was never a problem for Merle in the past as she attacked conservatives. Funny how this stuff works.
"It does sound like a Trump tweet."
Partly due to her misuse of affect/effect, a common grammar error.
I think Rose has identified the real conspiracy of silence, and she'll be heard no matter what. She's been in a position to know all about it, and her work world has been gaslighting her for how long now?
According to Jordan Peterson, men have no strategy to deal with an angry woman, especially when she's a little bit... can I say crazy?
He makes a strong point, there.
Sad!
Perfect. Let's gin up a symbol of our being on the right side, without having to do the work required to be on the right side.
The symbol itself is the statement, so asking for further statements is not only unnecessary, it would be rude.
This is Hollywood in a nutshell.
The upside is no one would want to wear something other than black and the whole event would look like the funeral for the industry that it is.
“The dingo ate my tongue.”
Grand to see the "courage" of outspoken activist arts and entertainment types revealed as the empty nonsense it is.
How many people would give up their jobs for their principles?
Maybe you should all wear Marchesa.
Wicked!
I think they should give Rose McGowan a special Oscar and then let her give a 10-minute speech to the assembled crowd about how they have failed the nation and exactly what they need to do better.
I'm sure they would welcome such a speech, as they believe it is the proper forum for speaking truth to power.
For once, the whole country would tune in.
She is right.
Speaking truth to power. That only works when the power is Republican, and the truth is damaging to Republicans. Apparently Meryl has a new movie out. It's about Katherine Graham who was the publisher of the Washington Post. Graham did something brave and published the Pentagon Papers against the wishes of Nixon. There is no braver nor more noble act an American can perform than to defy the wishes of Nixon........And who better to personify and dramatize the courage, dignity and integrity of Graham than Meryl Streep who embodies all those attributes. Well, that's why they call it acting. Maybe pretending is a better word. No, pretentious is the word I'm looking for. No, not that. Phony is the exact descriptive word to use when describing Meryl's many admirable qualities.
I love the acting of Meryl but my opinion of her has declined over the years.
Mmm...The Post is being released by Fox Movies. Are they aware of their demographic?
Another movie I will not see. That is a movie where the Actors need to get a big check up front because there will be no residuals.
This reminds me of when the gym teacher at my kid's elementary school convinced the children that if they all walked/ran around the schoolyard 100 times they could cure cancer. It was empty symbolism but harmless generally. This is Hollywood asserting its moral authority again, which in school terms amounts to the cool kids instructing the greasers and the nerds on how to have great team spirit. Who cares?
Doesn't Ms. Streep usually wear black to the Oscars anyway?
On Pig Harvey, aside from crimes, it's none of your business.
It IS her business. And her livelihood.
The pentagon papers only went up to 1967.
Nothing about Nixon
He was trying to protect jfk& LBJ. Or the US from the embarrassment of jfk & lbjs actions
John Henry
Hollywood needs to stop heeding what late Arizona Senator Stoddard said.... "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."
I place the blame on Bill Clinton. The media, and establishment leftists, were happy in their hypocrisy. Defended themselves, and acknowladged collateral damage of all women, but abortion is safe. The message is clear, support the proper menu of leftist politics and your sexual deviency will be ignored.
The movie industry was alway this way, pay for play, and when powerful women like Oprah, willingly sacrificed young new commers, in order that she may make her 2cnd $billion, the men,(and women) in power knew they had a free pass to to turn the perv up to eleven.
Want rose, the one that broke up Robert Rodriguez-s marriage.
Funny thing about ellsberg, he had been hired by lansdale hung out with lucein conein, the contact man with the diem coup, in that capacity he crossed a Corsican mob boss, by sleeping with one of his molls and conein got him out of the country.
So the lesson, is don't do favors for brilliant but erratic genius who are likely to turn on you, conein who was later the godfather of the dea he knew where the bodies are buried; volunteered if he had headed the plumbers they would have got it right.
The Gloden Golbes are my favorite event!

“The dingo ate my tongue.”
"Dingo" is such a cool word.
"Streep", on the other hand, sounds like a disease, as in "Those dingoes caught streep from eating a diseased baby."
It's the tribute Vice pays to Virtue.
Streep-streep is the song of the Apteryx.
To hell with Meryl Streep. I hope she dies in a fire.d
All Hillarywood award shows should be canceled from now on.
The golden statue is a symbol of not only rape, but leftwing progressive politics-
which is corrupt.
Enough with your ivory tower self congratulatory display of hypocrisy and wealth all while you pimp socialism. We no longer care that you can fake an accent cry on Q.
We want our money back.
Since I still enjoy the occasional movie, I try to avoid listening to or reading about movie celebrities as their inane remarks spoil my enjoyment of watching them on the screen.
I recently rented two movies: Donnie Brasco and Black Mass. Two performances were remarkable: Pacino in Brasco [in which Johnny Depp was sadly miscast] and Depp's excellent portrayal of James 'Whitey' Bulger in Black Mass, which enabled me to totally forget his absurd political comments.
Again: Let me love the art while hating the artist. Artists on the whole are not admirable people, nor are most of them particularly intelligent. But they have gifts that the rest of us do not and those gifts are worthy of our respect.
The Left's favorite Female Islamic Supremacist enabled sexual Assault.
Lena Dunham, Meryl Streep, Debra Messing(D-loser), and Madonna still love you Linda. You go grrl.
No me. I'm done with Hillarywood.
Tho - There are a few that are not tainted, like Clint Eastwood. Still - I have no interest in any of it anymore.
How many people would give up their jobs for their principles?
I did it once. It felt right. Management pissed me off, and I walked. Granted, I was very confident I wouldn't be unemployed for long, and I wasn't. But I don't think it's that uncommon.
What with the standing ovation for Polanski and The Complicity and The Collusion with Weinstein, I was hoping that Streep would be chastened and a little more demure in her ex cathedra pronouncements about life and morality in these United States. No such luck. She's back and still serene. The entertainment journalists are not asking any questions to disturb that serenity or to cause her high horse to rear and throw her. Congratulations to Rose McGowan for pointing out the obvious.......I understand that Rose is a flawed creature who has responded to Harvey in a jagged and uneven way. Meryl has shown how a sane, dignified actress should handle the Harvey problem.
Sniff! Sniff! There's a lot of Boomer BeGone in the air these days.
Corruptocrat hypocrite Streep hearts her some pig monster.
If they really wanted to make a protest mean something, they'd all wear horizontal stripes.
I do hope the rejecting actresses will now denounce the cock-sucking actresses. THEN The Reckoning will really be on, bitches
I'm getting such a schadenboner watching this circular firing squad.
A few years back Morgan Freeman opined that the only reason anyone opposed Obama was due to racism. The fact that I was paying substantially more for much worse health coverage had nothing to do with my discontent, nope. All racism. Morgan Freeman said so. So I resolved never to watch a Morgan Freeman movie — star, bit player, cameo, it doesn’t matter — while it was in the theaters. It proved to be an astonishingly easy resolution to keep
Now I can add Streep to the list. And self-proclaimed “Nasty Woman” Ashley whats-her-name. I can save a lot of money while doing some virtue signaling of my own.
The Oscars show is going to be cringier than usual. For the first time, the In Memoriam bring-out-your-dead segment will not be the saddest part. The survivors will, to a degree, envy the dead.
Shouldn’t that be “effect no real change”?
I see now that Meade beat me to it.
It's pretty clear that Rose McGowan has some "issues," but she is more right than wrong.
Streep and all Weinstein's other enablers need to own their hypocrisy, and then STFU. Forever.
It's a bit of a mystery why they want to keep reminding everyone of their share of guilt in all this.
It's a bit of a mystery why they want to keep reminding everyone of their share of guilt in all this.
Because Publicity.
You can't effectively use shame against people who have no ability to feel shame.
A group of multi-millionaires who allow themselves to be taped/broadcast loudly supporting any number of truly despicable individuals--including giving an ovation to a man convicted of raping a child--are almost certainly incapable of feeling shame.
The real weapon is to deny them their self-appointed importance. "Oh, Matt Damon thinks X or Y about tax policy, does he? Well he's the rich douchebag who knew about predator Weinstein's behavior neither said nor did anything about it--why would anyone listen to his moral opinion on anything?" "Meryl Streep thinks there need to be more female directors, does she? Well she clapped loudly to show her support and approval of rapist Polanski and she didn't speak up about powerful men who abused women in Hollywood (just so long as those powerful men helped HER), so why should we care what she thinks about gender issues?"
They're just some assholes who entertain us from time to time. That's worth something and I don't really begrudge them their wealth, but that's ALL they are, and we (the people) ought to make sure that's true and they know that.
Streep bravely rides the sky-is-falling-world-is-ending-because-of Trump-and-any-deplorable-who-voted-for-him train. When opportunity to speak against an actual rapist, she takes a pass. Cowardly behavior by a woman who holds the most secure position in the industry. She will get a standing ovation at the Golden Globes. I hope Rose McGowan keeps it up and others join her.
I'm old enough to remember Hollywood gossip columnists. Their fodder was remarkably devoid of political opinion. It was assumed that most Hollywood stars were insufficiently knowledgeable to discuss political issues.

Huh. You mean, she isn't really a paragon of virtue and integrity, she just plays one in an endless string of uninteresting movies?
Might wear black, but will guarantee the nominees will be showing plenty of cleavage and side boob to support the cause
Hopefully the dresses will still have leg slits that go all the way up, necklines that go all the way down and display the proper amount of side boob.
Burquas might be a nice touch and would show solidarity with oppressed Muslim women. I'm sure I have been biased by the patriarchy and well may be wrong, but I suspected women do make-up, and show boobs and legs to be attractive to men. This would make some sense for single women wanting to get hooked up or possibly find a long-term mate. This would, however, suggest married women would dress modestly.
but I suspected women do make-up, and show boobs and legs to be attractive to men.
I'll wager that even if there were only women on the earth they would still follow fashion and dress to please themselves--to look good in the mirror. Men flatter themselves that they are the main reason women dress as they do and wear makeup.
