My Aunt Alice used to call them her "Pine-ees".

Spending Memorial Day the right way.

The lady who stayed with my grandmother at night called them pee-oh'-nees, and daffodils were buttercups.

Does the single bloom plant require support like the doubles?

San Francisco pitcher Hunter Strickland beaned Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper after the latter took him "bay" (hit such a far tater that it ended up in the San Fransisco Bay) in the 2014 post-season. Harper charged the mound and it immediately became a bench-clearing brawl.

In the aftermath, Nationals TV color commentator F. P. Santangelo noted drily, "Boy, that escalated quickly..."

I am listening to an audible reading of Churchill and Orwell. Amazing how many people were never-Churchill until May 1940. Then they all rallied around him because he was the ONLY one willing to fight the Germans. The Chamberlain believers in appeasing Hitler even came over to Churchill's leadership.

There was no one else!!!

Harper is a nemesis of the Braves. But he has an honorary Scots-Irish temperament.

Single peonies stand up pretty well. I've got three varieties that my mother started growing 50 or so years ago.

Where is Laszlo by the way, ready to dive into those gorgeous plant parts? Tim

I planted two peonies on Mom's grave in Forest Hills. They've nowhere near that far along. The one on the south side of my house, though, is almost done.

I'm glad I live somewhere where they thrive.

"I am listening to an audible reading of Churchill and Orwell."

You should rad Lukacs book Five Days in London, May 1940.

I don't know that there is an audio version.

It was very, very close. If Halifax had become PM (the king liked Halifax and did not like Churchill), the war would have been lost.

Dr. K,
Thanks for the recommendation. I love that kind of stuff.

Yes, I used the portal. The rich get richer.

@ Bad...You just wasted your time listing highly spun, narrative following, headlines. Why do you want to base comments on that?

Thanks Michael K...I just ordered Lukack's Five Days in London, 1940. Now I have to find enough shelf space for a paper back.

@Trad, because you said search for it. I didn't understand at all what you were saying about Macron speaking on Trump's behalf to Russia. It seemed unlikely. So I Googled macron speech Trump Russia. That's what came up.

Could you find me either a YouTube or a transcript of what it was you were talking about? As you are aware, I support the President and would be glad of international good news. Thank you.
