Fake news from Bob Dylan: "Britney Spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon."

You can't believe Bob Dylan's Twitter feed about a pop star death the day after the Christmas-day death of George Michael?

If you think you can, your grasp of the internet is not yet adequate.

"Britney is fine and well." The Twitter account was hacked. The idea! Right after Christmas. Hitting with the loss of the best pop star left after the last best pop star passed. Discrediting Bob Dylan, right after his incredible over-crediting by the Nobel Committee.

All our hopes and dream punched out on Boxing Day.

Move over Boxing Day. December 26 is now known as the First Day of Kwanzaa, a time of "help[ing] African Americans reconnect with their African cultural and historical heritage by uniting in meditation and study of African traditions."

You know, like in Chicago.

With George Michael dying, it would have been funnier if the tweet had come from Rick Astley.

I am Laslo.

I think Joan Baez and Dylan make a better couple.

Best hoax tweet of 2016 still the Patriot fan hacking NFL twitter account and announcing that Roger Goodell had passed away. 2016 sucked, but had a few bright points.

How was he over credited? If anything they understated his achievements.

I caught that tweet right when it was posted. I did a quick google search and saw nothing else about her death. There was a Sony account that tweeted it as well and that was it. Within about 15 minutes there were stories out about the hoax.

There is no such thing as bad publicity. Somebody who smoked big cigars and made a living getting people's names in the papers said that between blowing smoke rings. I don't know if that's true, but some believe it.

I guarantee this: the hacker(s) responsible for this "Britney is dead" tweet did it on commission from a publicist.

The Nobel Prize is very pretentious — full of itself in ways that don't match up well at all with what Bob has been up to all these years.

It's like calling Tilda Swinton the most beautiful woman in the world.

Or perhaps like a balancing a mattress on a bottle of wine.

But, notions of beauty and what is literature change over time. The Nobel committee may be pretentious, but their stated reasons for awarding the prize to Dylan were well measured and not over the top. They gave proper credit where it was due.
