Suddenly, the place where I live isn't called the "Blue Wall" or the "Fire Wall" anymore. It's: "Rust Belt."
When we ceased to operate to generate power for the Democratic Party, it was back to the old insult.

They love you for as long as you help them. When that stops, you're just flyover country.
They don't often ask "How did we lose a reliable liberal state". They just assume you're all racists and sexists.
The Democrats have a huge problem with their coalition and I'm not sure when they will decide to address it.
"If you think Trump says a lot of horrible things about immigrants, you should see the stuff MSNBC says about midwesterners."
-David Burge
You're all racists, too. Each and every one.
Fun to be called a racist, when you are not a racist.

Especially when they just voted for Obama twice.
My state is racist, too, even though our Governor is Indian.
I sort of like "The Yellow Iron Belt."
Caterpillar will be the big winner from last night. Lots of reconstruction projects are coming with Federal money that includes Buy American provisions.
Silver lining: Bill and Hillary giving speeches during football half-time, no extra charge.
Welcome to the deplorable states club; try to keep that beautiful land of yours from getting too ugly!
A fresh perspective will end the [class] diversity/wars fomented for Democratic leverage.
Hillary really never went there? Wow. Probably raised her vote.
"We have nothing polite to say right now." - Sanders camp.
I wonder if they can resuscitate Keystone. That will create some jobs for deplorables, right there.
"our Governor is Indian."
I noticed she jumped on the train just as it was leaving the station.
Populated by the WWC the Dems have ignored for decades. Trump heard the cry of these people.
We banned Bossy. I love it!
When in 2012 Obama, much to my surprise, won his second term, I made a $100 bet with my wife that Hillary would be the next president. I did so in the fully cynical assumption that the US was absolutely beyond redemption, in the hands of corrupt government and corrupt business and corrupt culture.
It is with great pleasure that today I have to go to the bank and get a nice crisp $100 bill to pay my wife her winnings.
Maybe, if I am humble enough about it, she will use it to take us both out to eat somewhere nice.
I don't see another non African American candidate for the Democrats for a while. If they can find one who is somewhat moderate, he will do well. Left out "she" as black women monolithicly voted for the termagant.

To be a true silver lining it needs to be Man U vs Liverpool.
What's the matter with Wisconsin??
At some point, victory-through-mockery-by-the-cool-kids may prove to be a self-defeating strategy.
I guess right now you guys are officially in the vicious-betrayal camp. You and Meade are supposed to be out on the streets, barefoot, covered with ashes, making your penitent way to the nearest DNC headquarters, where you will be permitted to kneel for three days in the snow to demonstrate that you are sorry.
Otherwise, the excommunication stands. It's probably a good thing that you are retiring, because otherwise you might be forced to participate in the public rituals of grief and rejection at UW.
Soon the condescending pundits will refer to it as the White Belt.
Trump won because he got significant Bernie Sanders votes from the industrial and agricultural heartland to go along with the deplorable rust belt vote.

So, another fucking stimulus package?!?

Trumbull County Ohio went for Obama by 22 points in 2012. In 2016, Trump won by over 7. That's a 30 point swing in 4 years. That's insane. Hillary and the DNC absolutely blew this big time.
When we ceased to operate to generate power for the Democratic Party, it was back to the old insult.
LOL, Sorry, this is what happens to plantation slaves who displease their masters.
The first stones on the road to the very real loss of Democrat political leverage in this state were laid in February 2011 by the democrats themselves. The great freak-out over Act 10 were a wake-up call, and showed those who would see that the dems were running a protection racket all along. Well Russ, you didn't win, but it sure looks like it's over.
So, another fucking stimulus package?!?
Back in the day the government made multi year infrastructure commitments as part of long term budgets. Money that actually goes to infrastructure. That's what's coming.

Bon appetite! :-D
Michael Moore was right for once, and boy was he right.
To traditionalguy,
I think you're right about Caterpillar being a big winner -- at least in the long run. But I'll differ with you on your prescription of "Buy American provisions." No need to restrict competition in the land of the free. And, incidentally, Caterpillar has never promoted tariffs or other restraint of trade against their non-American competitors. Strictly out of self-interest, they've found that protectionism at home begets protectionism abroad; and they have a lot more to lose from restrictions on overseas markets than from restricting trade at home.
