Those big linemen will always get the Badgers a well deserved high ranking. But the teams of smaller and faster guys are out there for the end of the season playoff.
And this weekend poor Bret Bielema, who got away by going to Arkansas, has to play The Little Sisters of the Poor again.
The problem is that the game was played in Wisconsin, and LSU has probably been the biggest underperformer in the SEC for going on 4 seasons now- they play great defense, but can't seem to score consistently.
In any case, I thought Wisconsin played a great game Saturday.
Yeah, well the Longhorns jumped from outer nowhere to #11, sooooo?? The Longhorns ain't no how, no way a top 20 team! Once again, preseason polls (sports polls in general) are meaningless!

That's how my "little" Bulldogs defeated Ron Dayne's squad in the 1998 Outback Bowl.
At the snap they would be past the big, hulking linemen and around Dayne's ankles before he could get up a head of steam. A lot easier to take down the big man that way.
BTW, my Dogs also jumped many spots to #9. Too soon, IMO, but there you are.

Congrats, will it last?
This is best for the B1G Network and ESPN/ABC because they will be able to hype high-ranked opponents. It's all bullshit.

"#10!" From out of nowhere.
#10 is nowhere. Go to a game, yell, "We're #10!", and see the response you get.
It's all about whom you beat. ['Who' actually sounds better but I can't bring myself to say it.]

For 17 days. Maybe.
I believe it's properly expressed as "out of fucking nowhere."
Wasn't Wisconsin at the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago ? 2011, 2012, 2013. But didn't win .... bummer. Maybe another chance ? #10 though, hmm.
9/24 - at Michigan State
10/1 - at Michigan
10/15 - Ohio State
10/22 - at Iowa
10/29 - Nebraska
I think the Badgers go 1-4 through that stretch. But it was a great game at Lambeau versus LSU!
Wisconsin is #33 in the Football Outsiders' F/+ ranking. (One week is scant data, of course. Too heavily weighted to year-old numbers.)

You know what else if From outta nowhere?!?
Holy Russell Wilson! Who ALMOST lead the Badgers to an undefeated season.
The Russell Wilson signing had to be the best ever for the Badgers. Probably could have had him as a freshman but they had never heard of him then.
Badger football will always be a bit of a tease. But it's a fun tease.
Year in and year out the Big 10 is the most overrated football conference. Their bowl record proves it.

Rankings before the first month of play are stupid.

Really? You must have missed the Ohio State National Championship a couple of years ago.
Before I clicked on the link, I thought you meant Wisconsin's law school was ranked #10.
ndspinelli:
Michigan has a 24-8-1 record all-time versus the SEC, and is 8-5 versus the modern SEC in bowl games.
I should have more correctly written, "24-8-1 historically versus the schools in the current SEC..."
