"It's very close to my heart because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down on 7/11, down at the World Trade Center, right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I've ever seen in action...."Chris pointed me to the "Absolutely Fabulous" clip in which Eddie calls 9/11 7/11:
And doesn't Patsy look like Ivana Trump? From a 1992 AbFab episode:
Eddie: I'm opening a shop, Pats.
Patsy: Ooh, what are you going to sell?
Eddie: Oh, just gorgeous things, you know.
Patsy: Ooh, lovely.
Eddie: Gorgeous, tasteful, little stylish little gorgeous things.
Patsy: Expensive...
Eddie: Obviously, yes. They'll be present-y Anoushka Hempel-y sorts of things everywhere.
Patsy: Chocolates?
Eddie: Garden implements, that sort of thing.
[flicking through a magazine]
Eddie: I can't find anyone I want to look like... Oh! Oh, she's not bad. Who's that?
Patsy: That's Ivana Trump.
Eddie: She's good, isn't she?
Bubble: Do you think so? She looks like a classic bimbo to me. All that terrible blonde hair piled on top of her head. False tan. She's far too thin. Always pouting. Absolutely no character. The skirt's too short. I mean, it's pathetic these older women struggling to look twenty five... Sorry.
Patsy: I think she's tremendous.

Kasich in Manhattan was used like Kasich in Wisconsin was used. He was the choice of the I Hate Trump voters that hated Cruz even more.
And how did that work out?
Referring to 9/11 as 7/11 I would put under the same category as referring to the 57 states.
Obama tried to cover his astonishing ignorance with the lame excuse that he was tired. (Doubly lame because part of his selling point was that he was young and full of energy, unlike that tired old John McCain. But never mind, he is the light-bringer and it's cool to vote for the black guy, am I right!)
What is Trump's excuse? It's a mixed up I can't imagine. How is the 9/11 part of his brain even in the same zip code as the 7/11 part of his brain?
I *heart* Bubble.
What is Trump's excuse?
He misspoke?
I've made the same stupid mistake. Having grown up in NYC, the "*/11" was deeply embedded in my brain as 7/11 for many years before 9/11. It can happen when I am thinking ahead of what I am actually saying. The brain just retrieves the wrong "*/11." The subliminal power of branding I guess.
Maybe he conflated 7 World Trade Center with the date. 7 WTC was a shorter building, part of the complex, which held among other things the NYC emergency command post. Maybe he was trying to say "at 7 WTC on 9/11" and it came out as "7/11."
Reminds me of when GHWB got the date of Pearl Harbor wrong. He of all people should have that date burned into his brain. But say it enough times over the years, and you'll get it wrong once or twice.

Oh, and I've always thought Patsy looked like Ivana Trump.
Here is a clip from SNL with Phil Hartman playing Donald Trump that includes Jan Hook as Ivana, just because it is funny.

This one is good too.

The people who know Trump best voted for Kasich.
I guess Carl Ichan - a really great negotiator and businessman, let me tell you - only had one vote.
It's amazing to me how the media can't see beyond the moment. Going into last night they all see the polls, know Trump's going to win, but the "Trump can't get to 1237" meme envelopes them. It totally frames their thinking and reportage. Then Trump wins and everything changes. Suddenly Cruz is mathematically-eliminated, Kasich insane. Really, weren't those same two things the yesterday?
This just shows how the media is all about the past, the recent past, to be sure, but the past nonetheless. They can talk about the future but it's all viewed through the lens of what just happened ... or what happened a long time ago. Plus, they are afflicted with a herd mentality that cannot be broken.
To see the future you've got to go to the prophets, who rely on intuition, the pollsters and modelers (like Nate Silver), who rely on data and logic, and the betters, who look at what the prophets and pollsters are saying and then put their money down. Never, never, never listen to TV pundits. They are, at best, a Greek chorus who states the obvious except that it's often wrong.

The part that comes immediately after the part you quote gives you my view of that excuse. It's hard to guess how you saw one and not the other.
So Liberal Manhattanites that know Trump sought Kasich because Trump
Is a powerful Conservative.
That destroys Lyin' Teds Big Lie.
"The people who know Trump best voted for Kasich."
Yes, the donor class. Manhattan is the capital of hedge fund GOP. You know, the ones who give millions to Hillary to buy protection.
Could you even imagine they would vote for Trump ? Someone might see them!
@tim maguire
I saw it. I'm just saying, that's going to be his excuse. Your view of it is immaterial. As is mine.
His supporters will buy it. His detractors will seek to use it to prove that he is unfit to be POTUS.
People who pay little attention to politics, but routinely misspeak in real life, will, if they notice it, think to themselves that some people dislike Trump with a fury usually reserved for cheating ex-spouses.
In fact, if someone actually asks him, "you said 7/11 instead of 9/11, what about that? Huh?! Huh?!" His answer will most likely be, "are you f***ing kidding me?"
Dates, schmates. Happy 4/20.
There are plenty of substantial things to use in a debate on why Trump should not be the POTUS. Harping on something that is obviously a "slip of the tongue," something that happens to everyone occasionally, makes you look unserious to people who are not committed to any particular candidate.
New York values
Oh, and just think about how successful pointing out the 57 states thing was. Imagine how awful the state of the country would be if Obama hadn't made that fatal mistake and the conservative punditry hadn't pointed it out.
He might have been elected President!
But then no one voted in the Republican Primary in Manhattan. Remember you had to set your party affiliation last October. To see the precinct by precinct count see
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/04/19/us/elections/new-york-city-republican-primary-results.html#11/40.7100/-73.9800
Big precincts show like 72 votes total.
My precinct 41 Republican votes
223 Democratic votes
AbFab Trump bit: https://youtu.be/A_y-5dSf8SE?t=14m55s
Watch it in all it's off-frame majesty before the take down notice gets it.
Did Trump lose the delegates?
AbFab was one of the best shows ever.
Of course, the AbFab 7/11 joke refers to the London bombings in 2005 that took place on 7/7.

Of course, you didn't watch the clip. Saffy yells "9/11!" at Eddie at 0:20.
The episode is "Gay" (2002).
Thanks for that link, Xmas. I added it to the post.

That's the double joke. Saffy is MORE wrong with the 9/11 reference. It's even in the wrong country. I'll stick with 7/7 being the basis for the joke.
The 7/11 slip has nothing to do with the votes in Manhattan. The Kasich supporters in Manhattan are not anyone-but-Trump voters, they are wealthy moderate Republicans, and Kasich is their kind of candidate. They liked Romney too. You may not like that kind of people--I like to call us "Union Club Republicans"--but they are just as sincere in their beliefs as anyone.
Interesting question arises from looking at the NY Times map. Should one register Republican because there your vote is very powerful. There are precincts where the total votes cast in the Republican primary was 1. Trump wins a lower east side precinct because its sole Republican voted for him. Now that is power. one man one vote.
Chris Cilizza has noticed the post-primary Trump shift.
It will be the new Trump. Next comes the VP choice, which I think should be Cruz, once Cruz realizes he is not going to get the nomination.
Kasich has probably been promised the support of the Big Boys but, if Cruz and Trump combine before Cleveland, it's over.
"That's the double joke. Saffy is MORE wrong with the 9/11 reference. It's even in the wrong country. I'll stick with 7/7 being the basis for the joke."
Even though the episode is from 2002?
"Even though the episode is from 2002?"
I ask the jury for nullification, then.
