[JOHN] DICKERSON: But Maria, Democrats seem quite happy to have this crack up and seem to be a in posture to not really deal with anybody. So, how does that affect...The "(ph)" is a nice touch. Just going by how it sounded. It sounded like "Jesus." Who would just blurt out the name of Jesus as an expletive in the middle of a "Face the Nation" panel? Watch it at 4:16 in the video:
CARDONA: I wouldn't say happy about it. I would say that Democrats are underscoring the message that they have said frankly very long time that the conservative ideologues in John Boehner's caucus are a problem because they're not interested in governing. And so what Democrats are using this is to underscore that they are not even willing to put Jesus (ph) -- the funding of DHS at a moment when we need it the most, first as opposed to some ideologues who are trying to prove a point because they don't like something that the president did.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who objected to that kind of talk in that setting. Here she is defending herself on Twitter:
Been getting critiqued 4 saying "Jesus!" @FaceTheNation. Am normally in church at that time, Spirit moved me in my pts re imp of DHS! Sorry!
— Maria Cardona (@MariaTCardona) March 1, 2015
So... the Spirit moved her. And she's usually in church on Sunday. What a ballsy explanation. She stands by the expletive. Lest you think it was just a momentary slip by a woman under pressure and at a loss for words, she'd like to you to believe that the outrage withholding funding to DHS makes a devout Christian cry out to the Lord.

She was conscious enough of what she was speaking to say "Jesus" when she meant "Cthulhu".
I am Laslo.
Ooh, it makes you wanna cry
Ooh, don't you wanna take her home?
I'd assume it's a sudden cramp.
Sie hat in Zungen gesprochen.
Why am I almost certain she goes to church about as often as Obama?
Or perhaps she was simply going to give a call-out to Jesus (Jesse) Ramirez, Operations Officer, Office of Border Patrol, DHS.
I am Laslo.
Of course she wouldn't use religion as cover for herself. She's a politician, and apparently they don't do that.
Next up. Ask John Dickerson if he believes she was really moved by the spirit.
Jesus being the Lord never made any sense to me, right from Sunday School onwards.
It's worse. There's a Holy Ghost too.
Not making any sense on any level.
I think it must be a bad translation of something.
A sudden, explosive use of a word used to be known as an ejaculation.
I am more intrigued by her twice using the word 'ideologue' in the paragraph shown. It seems a common tactic on the left to portray people on the right as 'ideologues,' which sounds narrow and vaguely sinister. Truth is, people on the left are ideologues too in that they have an ideology that motivates them. It's best to be open about that.
Maria Cardona was just echoing frustration with conservative Republicans at the level of Dakota Johnson's frustration with her mother Melanie Griffith last Sunday on the Oscar Red Carpet when Dakota let out a "Jesus Christ" after her mother repeatedly insisted to the interviewer that she had not seen nor planned to see Fifty Shades of Grey ever.
Also.
I'm kind of amused by the fact that Obama, who ran for his second term by declaring AlQaeda is on the run, now has to use how we are under unprecedented threat and so much have DHS funding right this very minute.
I mean, I thought we were all so much safer now.
Jesus, she is a nasty.
And please give me a break, the Democrats are putting DHS funding in jeopardy. Eliminate the immigration funding for Obama illegals and it would pass in a second.
There are some very good religion appreciation texts -- I'd name Levinas and Harold Bloom as good authors -- but they all skip the triune God, not finding anything that makes sense of it.
Coleridge liked it but unfortunately doesn't give an explanation.
I have always wondered why speaking the the name of Jesus out loud upsets people. Is it because someone dared to not bow to word police and say Lord, or Christ or in your name ( carefully omitting whose name,) instead of saying His real God given man's name?
And blustering about being a super righteous defender of the Fourth Commandment only begs the question.
Bob, I don't know about "used to"-- the use of brief, unprepared, 'unscripted' prayers, 'ejaculatory prayer', continues. We live in a society consumed by libertinism, and the schools can barely teach English anymore, let alone the classical languages-- those are my two guesses about why one might be inclined to think "used to".
Nothing ballsy about Maria; she's totally in line with the spirit of the world and the prevailing culture.
Silly girl. The Lord does not listen to Democrats.
At least that is my reading of the Scriptures.
I am Laslo.
I skimmed the first 30 hits in Google for any reference to church, Jesus, faith or religion.
Her parents used to hold open house at Christmas, Novenas were said.
More than a dozen charities and organizations on her resume, and "Hoops Sagrado" ("Sacred Hoops"?), a youth basketball exchange with Guatemala, is the least secular.
I'm an atheist, so what do I know for Jesus? But even I can smell who takes the Fourth Commandment seriously.
"Eliminate the immigration funding for Obama illegals and it would pass in a second. "
Yeah, I thought the whole argument was that Congress was supposed to act legislatively and with the power of the purse.
Yet they are doing exactly that to overturn an executive order, and they are once again the bad guys.
Actually hearing Democrats say Congress should be relying on the courts!
We would find out the sincerity of her beliefs by learning what she exclaims when given the 'Shocker'.
I am Laslo.
But even I can smell who takes the Fourth Commandment seriously.
That's true conviction!
The Trinity simply sums up God's Covenants with men which requires an administration by a King and a Priest.
The King is the man in the line of David also referred to as Messiah/Christ.
Only the High Priest, who had to be from the Cohen line, offered sacrifice to God, and could not be the King under the old covenant made with Jews, but became the same man as the King under the New Covenant inaugurated by Jesus with everybody at the Last Supper. Jesus even became the sacrifice himself (ask a Catholic about details.)
The Spirit of Holiness is the presence of God given to those who ask for Him to help them... in Jesus's name, of course.
Traditionalguy, it's not the word or the name that's unspeakable. It's the "in vain."
To praise, to uplift, to glorify are proper uses. To swear, to belittle, to complain, to accuse? Not so much.
That said, I wish the Pentecostal church on my block could limit the proper use to 200 times per hour when the speaker volume is up to 11.
At the very mention of Walker, she got a whiff of sulphur and was calling for help.
Still, I'd look at a photo of her taken by Leonard Nimoy. If you know what I mean. If you don't know what I mean, then I mean a nude photograph. Because Nimoy took a lot of nude photographs of women. He must have kept the photos of thin women to himself. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
I am Laslo.
I don't mind the occasional "Jesus!"
Just don't lie about it. Spirit moved me. Bullshit on stilts.
Johanna...You are correct, but making "in vain" the question begs the question because then only my self righteous judgement says who is using Jesus name in vain and for that matter who is approved to speak at all over at MY church. Using Mohammed's name in vain has that same problem.
Speaking of the rowdy Pentacostals, have you seen Robert Duval's movie, The Apostle? Especially the final credit scene?
She is of course referring to Rhetorical Jesus. She's a member of that congregation.
We will not succeed with our Five Year Plan without increased immigration.

"We will not succeed with our Five Year Plan without increased immigration."
(We are, of course, in Year Seven of the current Five Year Plan.)

"(We are, of course, in Year Seven of the current Five Year Plan.)"
Which could be interpreted to mean that Obama is a Commie.
Sometimes I am not sure how much I need to explain.
I am Laslo.
A dem operative using this unforced expletive is a tell to me that the republicans should continue to present them with an unclean bill.
Um...the whole, "I'm usually in church, the spirit moved me," seems pretty obvious to be a joke to me.
I think her real attitude is, "I got a little too agitated, I used an expletive, it's no big deal."
With Cardona mentioning Jesus maybe they will now ask Scott Walker if he thinks she is a Christian.
I see what I did there.
I am Laslo.
The reason why Walker "picks beautiful, young women to be the spokespeople for his administration and campaigns", right there.
Late to this comment party, but Laszlo has the prettiest dress up there at First Post.
Traditional guy: it's the Levite who is priest. Cohens had nothing to do with it, you might read Exodus. I wonder where you got your info.
Also post Christ; Jesus is King, High Priest and sacrifice all at once, as you note in part.
This concern with saying "Jesus" is culturally and religiously specific. This is not a Catholic hangup.
The traditional old church lady exclamation where I come from was "Susmariosep!"
-Jesus, Mary and Joseph
Further contracted to "Sus!" in recent times.
Its one world now.
@ sparrow...good point. Do you mean that Kohanims and Levites are not names for the same office although they are designated together in Jeremiah 33:21?
sparrow: "it's the Levite who is priest. Cohens had nothing to do with it."
Actually the names and tribal affiliations can be confusing.
During the Exodus, when the Israelites made the Golden Calf, only the Levites refused to worship it. As a result, they were appointed servants to G‑d. Of the members of this tribe, those who were descended from Aaron, brother of Moses, became the kohanim. Aaron was the first kohen (Cohen), and also the first high priest.
Ever since then, many Jews have identified themselves as either Levites (levi’im) or kohanim.
tradguy is correct.
Glossolalia, the Holy Spirit entered her tongue. She must be a charismatic Catholic.
BTW, Cohens are Levites, so are Kaplans. There's probably others I don't know about.
