When reading about Rolling Stone's retraction of the UVa rape story, pay proper heed to all the reminders that rape accusations are almost never false. You know you can trust them, because they come from people who didn't realize until now that this one was false.

Jaq said...

Research shows up to 8% are false, so I am not sure how that works out to "almost never."

Seen a few times, thought I'd share:

"A Rolling Stone gathers no evidence."

Here in Charlottesville, lotsa UVA women flipping out like scalded cats after the Rolling Stone story implosion. Amazing to see.

I'm looking forward to the lawsuit wars that are going to leave the rubble bouncing at RS and Mr. Jefferson's University. I hope UVA a prez Sullivan has the good grace to resign for jumping the gun on the Greeks.

Hmm. 4 comments in, and I'm sensing a trend.

Look at the kind of questions the liberal media ask about rape accusers when they are accusing a Democrat.

I read "Until Proven Innocent" as recommended here by multiple commenters about the Duke Lacrosse case. The RS idiocy is a mirror image of the Duke case. It is astonishing what the elite will do to denigrate males, particularly those who the elite view as "privileged", whatever that word means. Of course the first mistake is to imagine RS as a legitimate news source.

I am inclined to purchase the November RS for this story alone and save it as an artifact of empowered feminism and advocacy journalism.

On a similar note: false accusation by Lena Dunham: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2014/12/03/investigation-lena-dunhams-republican-rapist-story-falls-apart-under-scrutiny

Haven't said this in awhile, so here goes.

Man do I miss Christopher Hitchens.

What a tragic tragic loss, especially in these times.

RIP,Mr. Hitchens (though he would reject that formulation, and I'd agree)

Jaq said...

I miss the old Andrew Sullivan too. Wonder what happened to him.

The fog looks like the moors of Devon.

That's a splendid photo.

I miss Hitchens too. A great loss.

On another note, I figured out who the killer is in "Gracepoint" the show that dragged on interminably and made me an resentful addict.

Can space describe the freedom I feel here, now?

Of course not. There is other space, and that space has been there some time.

Other Space, expecially, the space where semen eventuates, explored is humanity: without which there is none.

And, to you naysayers, I'll again answer the call uniquely, and I will never have a cogent reason why.

Ummm...that's not fog. It's sprinkling.

You know what I really like about this blog? You have commenters on the ground willing to publish their observations.

Who would have guessed that you have a commenter in Charlottesville?

To not be able to show is the last thiK

MSM: Grab the ball and run with it!
It is the speed that counts! Not the direction!

But it does all help to distract for the present implosion of progressive policies and hopes all around, does it not?

I didn't see Gracepoint, but I did see last season's Homeland. There should be a term to describe a show that is not quite annoying enough to make you want to stop watching it while at the same time not being quite entertaining enough to make the experience enjoyable.

Agree re Hitchens. I've been listening to old C-Span Washington Journal shows with him when I have trouble falling asleep-most nights. The first was on S. Africa in 1985. Just a kid.

Petitioners have persuaded Target Australia to pull Grand Theft Auto 5 from store shelves. It seems that Gamergate is mostly what I think about these days. I was struck that the people cheered by this direct action and result are the same people who would deny the right of Citizens United to speak.

Looks like Jaltcoh has prescience. TNR is self destructing.

Is anyone else struck by the sheer futility of all the Brown/Garner/SJW protests? I've had a couple go-arounds with a few and I've asked them the same question: What change in the grand jury system would you like to see take place to ensure that they produce indictments?

Ive only received one response that even addressed the question. One man wants all cases involving "death by cop" to go to federal grand juries. Apparently to eliminate prosecutor/police collusion.

Wouldn't that require a change to the 10th Amendment? I didn't ask what they'd do if they disagreed with the fed grand jury.

Anyway, the lack of thought is striking. Would one be far off in thinking that these self-indulgent, ignorant whiners are a right set of berks?

It appears that nearly all black people have left Seattle. I think there may be nine remaining. Here three days and lots of time in public places. White people and Asians. Occasional hispanic. Quite striking.

I am waiting for the first MSM figure to respond to the constant peppering on twitter regarding the rape accusations against Bill Clinton.

I haven't seen one yet. I do think that that rotten fish under the seat is hampering Hillary's "new car smell" though.

The radio weather man here warned of "freezing fog, especially in low lying areas and near water"

Is that a real thing? Freezing Fog? I don't want to google on it cause I enjoy thinking what it might mean. Does everyone but me already know what that means? Fog in the air that solidifies? Into what snow? Frost?

That was my experience late last year. but thank god today i am happy with him again. all thanks goes to Dr. EDIONWE, i was nearly loosing hope until i saw an article on how Dr. EDIONWE could cast a love spell to make lovers come back. There is no harm in trying, i said to my self. i contacted him via email: edionwesolutiontemple@yahoo.com. words will not be enough to appreciate what he has done for me. i have promised to share the good news as long as i live. he also helped me with promotion in my office. Dr. EDIONWE work is wow... since i met this man, everything is just going as i wished. i am very happy now. i urge you all to contact him via email: edionwesolutiontemple@yahoo.com.
