"I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world, so that I can tell them, you know what?"

"You could never, ever degrade me as much as I could degrade myself and look how beautiful it is what I do."

Said Lady Gaga, talking to Howard Stern, about her video for the song "Swine" and revealing that, years ago, she was raped.
"I don't want to be defined by it... I'll be damned if somebody is going to say that every creatively intelligent thing I ever did is all boiled down to one dickhead that did that to me."

Sounds like a variation of "The Aristocrats" joke.

It sounds more like show business redoing the carnival attractions of strange humans.

It is hard to be that strange. but she is a performer who can pull it off.

Some of us are thinking "is having been raped the new thing? some kind of rite of passage?"

I will say right here that I have never been raped, so far as I know. But if the money's good, I may have to re-visit that statement.

I am beginning to doubt any claims of rape victimization by celebrities, female or male.

Lady Gaga has raped my ears.

Although I do admire her attitude about it.

There is a circular absurd quality to her assertion, that's for sure. "Let me not tell you about how being raped has affected me, I mean, let me tell about how being raped hasn't affected me. Isn't this just so very interesting?"

Also: "Do not think about the color blue."

I'm all for whatever makes a rape victim feel whole again, so long as it doesn't involve directly hurting anyone else (except her attacker - he can rot in jail for all I care). But I consider this to be the height of ridiculousness. Why try to out-degrade someone who made you their victim? Why not be happy about being able to rise above and reach new heights of success, as she has, and let this be enough?

In the future, everyone will have been raped for 15 minutes.

Something tells me that this is career move #2040 for The Gaga. The timing is just too perfect.

Lady GaGa has got bukkake all wrong.

I am Laslo.

Getting so drunk that you get yourself raped is typically a low point in life; you can't go much lower. So there's that.

Tony Bennett, puking on the Madonna impersonator, at the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center. That would be art!

Was Madonna ever raped?

Remember when Michael Landon came out of the closet and admitted he was a bed wetter when he was a child. He made a TV movie about the problems bed wetters faced, and they truly do have problems. Michael Landon was thoroughly and uniformly mocked for his troubles. It's all very well to speak out about some problem, but it has to be the right problem. There's a certain cachet to having been raped right now. Perhaps her story us true, but I don't understand how being vomited on helps to right the wrong or proves that you're over it. The story isn't about Lady Gaga's rape but about her weirdness.

Let me coin the new term "frape" to describe fake rape. Lena Dunham was apparently fraped at Oberlin College. The investigation by Breitbart into her account of being raped by a campus conservative could not be verified in any of its particulars. So let's just say she was fraped. I strongly suspect that Lady Gaga was fraped also.

William and Bob Ellison - I think it's a coincidence this is in the news so much. However, Gaga doesn't say rape, Howard brought up the topic and suggested rape and producers taking advantage of women.

It does happen. A lot. I thought, do I know many women who...oh wait I do. Too many. It's not always rape, but an awful lot of sexual assault. Such as the neighbor you have known all your life, and when you're 17 he gives you a lift on a cold day, then won't let you out until you perform oral sex on him. Or the guy jerking off in the back of your school uniform on the crowded subway. Or the co-worker who offers to walk you and and then pushes you against a wall and forces himself on you, but thankfully you got away.

In those days, for example, my friend's mom blamed her for getting in the car with this neighbor and did not want the others on the block to stop talking to her. So she never reported this. It was assumed that no one would believe the nice man would do such a thing. Therefore, things went unreported, the woman ashamed, and who knows who else this man assaulted?

In my own story, the relative told me, "what do you expect? You're a good looking girl." I went over and over in my head what I did wrong.

It is good that we can talk about it and the stigma is on the criminal, not the victim. However, in criminal matters, we still need to investigate and make sure the rights of the accused are protected.

Carol, was Lady Gaga drunk? The only time she talks about drinking was as a way to dull her feelings in the years afterwards.

I think I'm glad to say that I couldn't recognize her or whatever it is she does.

And all so, so long ago ...

If a woman has a story to tell, then we should all encourage her to tell it. But we should also ask her to consider, as we ask ourselves, how will this help Hillary?
