"... everything goes wrong."

All these credentialed solutions that don't work.
Who'd da thunk it!

I read that as libations and thought, that must have been one hell of a frat party.

We have deer, more every year. They moved from the local reservation, where they had consumed all natural vegetation under five feet tall, which was pretty much all of it. Hikers tuck their pants legs into their socks and spray themselves liberally with DEET before venturing into the new, strange, unnatural environment (Lyme disease, you know.) Now deer are all over the suburbs and having multiple offspring every year. They eat everything, including "deer resistant" plants. The state-organized deer hunts in nature preserves are doing little to cull the herd because the hunts are organized by hunters who don't want to have to work to bag their prey. I'm ready for careful, controlled hunts in the suburbs, but this will never happen. The deer -- passive herbivores -- have won.

This is the left in a nutshell. They get all morally outraged at an event and apply their lefty angst to it. Then instead of simy doing the practical thing they implement some cockamamie idea that costs way too much and not only doesn't address the issue but makes it exponentially worse. Finally they go back to the practical way and solve the problem. Because their ideas are stupid.

Totally predictable result. Were there no wildlife biologists consulted on this silly plan?

Are we allowed to write "LOL" on this blog?

LOL

If the left weren't so insufferable with Their Moral superiority and pretense of being so informed their lack of awareness about their own idiocy would be sad. But you can't remove the smug from the liberal, so they deserve whatever derision that gets directed their way.

Educators should follow their own lead. It is clear that the only failure is the amount of money spent was way to conservative to achieve the goal.

Just like education spending. Sky rocketed, results? never moved the needle.

Decades of data prove early childhood education does not improve student performance.

Solution? More money.

Educators at Cornell are living proof that those that in academia are totally divorced from reasoning skills.

"oh deer … the bucks are raping the females on campus, and the response is to remove ovaries from the females? Is that really nonviolent? Were the feminists consulted on that?"

and

"Doe means NO"

This why the black bears have come back so strong in New Jersey, I bet.

Hilarious. I love academic solutions, which is why our president is so successful.

Did any of those fools ever have a dog's tubes tried ?

Jeeez !

Alas, Unknown, the black bears have yet to develop a taste for venison.

Jaq said...

The experts said it would work!

Tank said...

The Answer: Venison stew for the homeless and poor. Shoot em, field dress em, butcher em, eat em.

Win Win Win (well, except for the deer, but God put them here for the homeless to eat, didn't he?).

And if not for laws, sell meat and hide and spend the money on the poor.

I mean really, scarce resources are spent on elective surgery for meat animals?

It's really the male's responsibility. They should teach the bucks to use condoms.

Really, they should enroll the deer in condoms. Then the bucks could be shamed and bullied into not having sex.

In addition to more bears, coyotes and coyote/wolf hybrids are making inroads throughout the east.

As another comment pointed out, "Life will find a way" and with an expanded food supply, predators will return. And, if you believe in evolution, the ones that thrive will be the ones that adapt best to human occupied lands with lots of deer.

Forget 'Planet of the Apes', fear 'Planet of the Coyotes'.

Introducing wolfs and other predators not only culls the deer population, it causes the deer to act more cautious and stay in historic habitats. While guns are a cheap solution, they don't have the same effect.
