"And you may find yourself in a beautiful Oval Office..."

From "Twitter Nation distracted by president's suit."

I'm not distracted by the tan suit. I'm distracted by the distraction over the suit.

They say Obama said he had no strategy, but the suit was a strategy.

It's always showtime/Here at the edge of the stage....

Stop making sense, stop making sense, stop making sense, making sense/We've got a boyfriend that's better than that/And nothing is better that this....

I'm reminded of Van Halen:

Take a look at this!
Hey, man, that suit is you!
You'll get some leg tonight for sure!
Tell us how you do!
(Come on, Dave, give me a break.)
Hey, hey, hey, hey, one break coming up!

The perversion that is Obama's presidency makes you think that they orchestrated the whole thing -- him heralding there was no strategy and wearing a stupid suit to say that, especially when all TPM is talking about is his suit and gets a 25% page real estate on it in memeorandum. Or is he thinking, 'let me wear this ridiculous suit in case I say something more ridiculous?'

Everybody is missing the coded signal our Commander-in-chief is sending to secret Desert Warriors by donning the Desert camo clothes. It is like the 7th Calvary bugler blowing charge.

Now watch the panic among our desert enemies in Syria and Iraq...but wait, some dummy cancelled the A-10 Squadrons that are our modern version of the 7th Calvary.

The tan suit brought this to mind:

From Wiki:

"During Al Gore's unsuccessful bid for the presidency in the 2000 election, (Naomi) Wolf was hired as a consultant to target female voters... ...According to a report by Michael Duffy in Time, Wolf was paid a monthly salary of $15,000 "in exchange for advice on everything from how to win the women's vote to shirt-and-tie combinations." This article was the original source of the widely reported assertion that Wolf was responsible for Gore's "three-buttoned, earth-toned look.""

When the going gets tough the clueless wear earth-tones. Or something like that.

Didn't I call it yesterday? The media don't dare report his remarks or his approval rating would get right down to the final days of the Nixon administration. So focus on the suit! Ignore that he has no strategy for ISIS!

@traditionalguy, if he wanted to send a signal to the Desert Warriors he'd have worn green.

Anne Applebaum has a column in WaPo about the potential for war in Europe, and that Putin just might sling a nuclear bomb or two at a Baltic capital or whatever to make it clear that Russia is not to be messed with.
I don't think so, not in Europe, though he might doa very noticeable atmospheric test to make it clear what he thinks of U.N. treaties, and, of course, that Russia is not to be messed with.

I think he is going to "liberate" and annex at least southeast Ukraine and leave the remainder landlocked. Whether he goes farther or not will depend on what he thinks it will take to get the job done, and how difficult it will be internally to digest the the annexed area afterward.
I think he has taken Obama's measure, and he is not much worried about what the U.S. might or might not do, in the Ukraine or other places.

Putin wants the return of "All the Russias" that belonged to the tzars. It is just that it again is going to have to be one chunk at a time, and he won't get it all in his presidency - or lifetime, for that matter.
But he will take care about picking his successor.

It didn't work - vide the WaPo editorial:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/president-obama-needs-to-focus-on-how-the-united-states-can-meet-global-challenges/2014/08/29/11ec9e5e-2f90-11e4-bb9b-997ae96fad33_story.html

There was indeed an element of surreality in that press conference! Nice post.

Naomi Wolf, Democratic Manhood Trainer says:

So I said to Barack -- he lets me call him Barack, I told him women find him more appealing by his first name -- anyway, I told him you don't need to worry about any strategy for ISIS. Women don't care about any ISIS, and the word "strategy" is a total turn-off, so domineering male First-Husband...

Earth-tones will send them a reassuring message: there's nothing to worry about, the President is in a tan suit, everything's OK, we can still have the backyard party for the kids this weekend. Remember: dark blue suits signal tenseness and confrontation: it practically screams 'you should pay for your own birth control.' In fact, now might be a good time to pivot to free birth control -- American women's vaginas are not concerned about the Middle East. Just telling you what you pay me for...

Naomi Wolf, Democratic Manhood Trainer says:

So I said to Barack: we need to talk frankly about a difficult subject. Barack tensed -- he is SO perceptive, he knew what was coming next. Barack, I said, we need to talk about golf. Now there is nothing wrong with the occasional game, but playing golf all the time? Women see that as a First Husband Problem...

Women WANT to love you, Barack, but you need to send signals that you are thinking about them. Just brainstorming here, but: what if you went golfing with a group of photogenic high-school girls from some high school golf team? You can lean over to talk with them at key moments and in the photographs it will look like you are imparting a valuable life lesson: Women love that, LOVE that. Just telling you what you pay me for...

Naomi Wolf, Democratic Manhood Trainer says:

So I said to Barack: this next one is a tough one. A lot of American women haven't warmed up to Michelle: maybe it's race, maybe it's not, but we have to be cognizant of the issue. So you spending less and less time with her makes sense to them, and to some it makes you even seem 'available' if you understand my subtext. But after awhile this becomes a First Husband Problem, and the American women begin to wonder if you will really be there for THEM...

This is serious stuff, Barack: American women need to believe that you will be there for them, that you love more than just their freedom to choose abortion. I suggest a photo-op with you and Michelle dressed in earth-tones: this will send a message of reassuring warmth, and it will probably soften some of Michelle's masculine edges. Just telling you what you pay me for...

Naomi Wolf, Democratic Manhood Trainer says:

So I said to Barack: while it can be MOSTLY about women, it can't be ALL about women: you need to signal to men that you are one of them, without raising women's suspicions. And I must say: golf doesn't seem to be cutting it. Remember how the Kennedys would play football? Can you play a fun 'spontaneous' pick-up game of football with your staff? Shirt-tail out? Lots of laughing and high-fives? A lot of men still prefer the high-fives to the fist bump -- just saying. You'd be quarterback, of course...

What? You can't throw a football? Well, it was just a thought; we'll come back to this later. Really, men are not much of a concern right now, I don't think the ones you've lost will be coming back. Women, though: they are always willing to return for another chance -- that's another reason why birth control is so important, by the way. Just telling you what you pay me for...

Putin is not going to bomb the Baltic states because, after the Bolshevik population management operations, they all have substantial Great Russian populations, and Putin is not going to bomb Great Russians.

Now, if you don't have a Great Russian minority ....

Now, elderly women aren't bought with the free birth control, so we need to tailor something to them: perhaps you can speak of starting a War on Rheumatoid Arthritis. We'll name an old woman as the Czar, and we can have commercials showing elderly women knitting with newly agile fingers -- lots of soft rose and pink colors, it will shift the debate from any concerns that could be raised about the continued viability of Social Security: that's two birds with one stone, there. Just telling you what you pay me for...

So I said to Barack: we may be losing old people, they are seeing the world they know slipping away. We can't expect them to change with the times, so we need to pacify them until they die. You need grandparents to see you as the grandson they would have if they had a black grandson...

The Unbearable Lighness of Being Obama.

The problem is that he wasn't at Martha's Vineyard any more, but came back from vacation at a cost of millions and called a White House press conference, so that everybody expected a major announcement about war or immigration, and then all they got was this.

Or it may be that he has taken America's measure, or thinks he has. He can read the Defense Budget too. If he's just measuring Obama, expect action in the next 12 months. But he may see a longer game.

Of course his budget would not be looking too good if he went to open hot warfare over this. Their capacity at the fringes of their borders is reasonably strong. Not much beyond that other than nukes.

Nukes? Nah. Couldn't happen, could it?

Obama in that suit reminds me of 'The Mask'. Pity he didn't have some shoulder pads, hat, and green mask.

But we all know folks, this pathetic example of a president is gonna to worse for the US than Nevil Chamberlain did for Britain. He is more in line with the Roman emperor Commodus. Inept yet in command.

Putin's moves on the Ukraine parallel quite well to Czechoslovak, 1938. The Crimea was the Sudetenland, and now he wants all of the Ukraine.

Berzelius, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are next. Poland will be, like in WW2, the start of a real war.

Putin plays chess, Obama plays put-put.

And of course then there is ISIS, something not even WW1 or 2 had.

And we have over 2 more years of this disaster of a man as 'leader of the free world'.

Hagar said...

Putin probably knows more about America's capabilities than Obama does, since he is interested and Obama isn't, but for the next two years, Obama is president and the one that matters.
After that, even if the American people has done a 180, it will still take at least a couple of years for the next president to turn things around.

Is that picture a photoshop?

The suit looks about 10 sizes too large for him in that photo. Tiny head, huge body.

I object to this meme. Talking Heads were exceptionally competent musicians and virtual gods of the music video.

For that matter, Lex Luthor is the gold standard of supervillainry. It's not like it is easy to win when challenging Superman.

This guy is just an empty suit.
