Packing out dog poop from a trail like that is completely ridiculous. A bear can shit in the woods but a dog must shit in a garbage can, even when he's in the woods.
What I'd like to see is a human hiker walking out with a bag of shit. "What's in that bag?" "Oh, I had to go."
And many times I've come across a full poop bag (plastic) laying on the ground next to the trail. Some people just don't get basic concept.
I really like the shot of the fox's face. That's seriously close for a fox.
Me and the Ms. were hiking about two weeks ago and a couple of ladies with horses told us about their brief encounter with a mountain lion a year back. Big cats don't make themselves seen often, if at all.
While parking we saw a coyote running across the parking lot, probably hanging around the trash cans.
While returning to the car a raccoon came out of the brush some 6 yards ahead, stood up on two legs, looked around, looked at us, stared at us, then dropped down and went back into the brush.
Not a bad day. Hope you guys spent some quality time together.

I disagree. These trails are used by many people with many dogs. The dogs would be pooping right beside the trail, not deep in the woods. It would all be right by where the humans, many of them children, would be walking. It would be rude to allow your dogs to mess up that important shared space.
By the way, on one of our hikes we were returning as a man with a dog and a couple kids were going in, and the man already had a dog poop bag which he'd have to carry way in and then back out. Meade offered to take the bag back for him, since we were much closer to where it could be thrown out.
We have dune foxes all over our beaches. They love the turtle eggs they can find that aren't protected. They do keep down the population of destructive dune rabbits.

Dog fox or vixen? How did you ever get such a close shot of the fox's face?
Looks like that flesh eating short tailed shrew is still around evolved with a bushy long tail now.

Meade is a real "random acts of kindness" guy.

If a fox came that near to me, I'd be thinking rabies.
