Among registered voters, 42% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents currently say they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting, while 50% are less enthusiastic, resulting in an eight-point enthusiasm deficit. But Democrats are even less enthusiastic, with a 23-point deficit (32% more enthusiastic vs. 55% less enthusiastic).

There's a big lack of enthusiasm this election year, but Democrats are much more lacking.

This is very good for the country.
Democrat Party Motto: It's Not Our Fault!
They may not be enthusiastic but they'll vote to save their EBT cards. Republicans are grossly underestimating the power of the Donk's GOTV machine.
As they should lack enthusiasm! What exactly should motivate them this time around? The one big Obama initiative was this ACA mess that most Democrats aren't even mentioning in their advertising. Fear of a GOP takeover won't do much, as it's pretty clear that even if the GOP wins the Senate they won't be able to pass anything either. And holding the Senate for Democrats means keeping Landrieu, Begich and Pryor in office--not exactly a call to action for liberal activists. (For Republicans, try to imagine getting excited about Kelly Ayotte or Susan Collins getting reelected. It may help your party, but they're not exactly going to fire up the base). For the Democrats, there's nothing to gain and nothing to lose here. Why get all juiced up over this election?
2016 may be a different story.
" Republicans are grossly underestimating the power of the Donk's GOTV machine."
No, why do you think they want voter ID ? The Catholics among us know that resurrection is true because it happens very Chicago election.
Unenthusiastic now does not mean unenthusiastic in November.
It seems like journalists and pollsters are just trying to create work for themselves by making worthless polls and then writing about them.
Chickens coming home to roost.
What's to be enthusiastic about?
The conservatives are whipping themselves,...
Hey Michael K,
Were you in New York this weekend?
One dedicated Democrat with a cemetery listing and a nursing home directory can generate a lot of enthusiasm on election day. In fact, they can generate just enough enthusiasm at 8:00 PM of election day to put their guy (Al Franken for example) over the top.
2012 clearly illustrated that we are past Tytler's/de Tocqueville's/Peterson's/whoever-the-hell-said-it's tipping point.
Their vote is paid for. All the Democrats have to do is get it counted. Twice if necessary.
The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do
Pffft. Gallup. They're looking in the wrong places. There will be sacks and sacks of extra Democratic enthusiasm found in poll workers' trunks as needed this fall.
How's your rash Crack?
You really should wipe your face after your Obama servicing sessions. Who knows what he got from Reggie?
Keep pimping that blog, homeslice.
"Hey Michael K,
Were you in New York this weekend?"
No, I was busy with these guys . Real men as opposed to some pussies I know.
Michael and mom jeans.
I was seriously pleased reading all the comments until I got to yours. I thought for sure crack was going to be ignored, for once.
Don't feed the troll.
I understand when people argue with trolls on websites because there are readers who may be lead astray. And its good to get a counterpoint out instead of just letting the trolls point stand unanswered
However, does crack say anything worthy of a response? Not really. He isn't going to lead anyone astray. The only followers he has are those who like to go troll hunting.
The worst thing you could do in his mind is ignore him. He wants your attention. Which is why he calls you out.
If you ignore him, he will escalate at first, but eventually he will fade away.
Given the core meaning of "enthusiasm," I'm not surprised that the Dems lack luster.
