Did you miss any of the 20 things I blogged about yesterday?

1. How to be as unheterosexual as possible.  2. Knocking the cover off the baseball.  3. Elitist chickening. 4. The history of the letter W.  5. The Clinton "conspiracy commerce" memo. 6. A Monica sequitur. 7. Stages of mocking the stages of grief. 8. Nevada wants its land back. 9. VAWA amended to help U.S. Attorneys off the hook for their chronic failure to prosecute domestic violence cases. 10. The down side of desegregation. 11. The game young folks spurn. 12. Theme blogging. 13.  Floating nuclear power plants. 14. Lawyers in shorts.15. The political football. 16. The Alienation Museum. 17. Outsourcing umpiring.18.  Idol fluff. 19. Eiffel fluff. 20. Flying tentacles of Drudge.

ADDED: A commenter seems to have missed these posts because, he says, he was out getting a tattoo. Since he seems 1. To like tattoos and 2. To want to make up for his lapse in failing to read yesterday's 20 posts, I suggest that he get 20 tattoos, corresponding to the 20 posts:
1. 2 men who look alike, 2. A deconstructing baseball, 3. a fancy-schmancy chicken, 4. a W, 5. Hillary looking offended, 6. the smiling face of Monica Lewinski, 7. the Grim Reaper laughing, 8. Harry Reid wrestling with a map of Nevada, 9. A lawyer with the letters "U.S." on his shirt, looking the other way while a woman is getting strangled, 10. Zora Neale Hurston, Elijah Muhammad, and W.E.B. Du Bois all frowning disapprovingly, 11. An old man with a bag of golf clubs supplicating at the feet of a young man who is holding out his hand in the "Stop!" gesture, 12. Female hands on a keyboard, 13. 3-Mile-Island-style towers rocking atop a Hokusai wave, 14. Alan Dershowitz drawn in an R. Crumb style with skinny hairy legs showing because he's wearing shorts, 15. Leave a lot of room somewhere for that entire 1889 cartoon about Benjamin Harrison, 16. A lady seen from the back next to a framed painting of a woman of approximately the same shape appearing only as a silhouette, 17. An umpire "powwow," 18. Dexter Roberts, 19. The Eiffel Tower, 20. Michelle Obama, Johnny Depp, and Antonin Scalia, the first 2 with their hair swirling Medusa-ishly and the latter waggling his fingers in the "Boo!' gesture.

Reads like a song title list of some 90's album from, say, Pavement.

It's not that I spent an unusual amount of time on the blog yesterday (as opposed to a more normal day, where there might be 10 to 15 posts). There were just things that turned up as bloggable.

But it was Saturday, pretty much always the lowest traffic day.

I think you can sing it to the tune of "Give Peace a Chance" (that old John Lennon rap song).

@betamax

Wow… that's… weird.

Ron said...

You're right betamax....if we send this list to Pavement they'll make an album out of it!

Ron said...

I think we start the meme that Althouse was in Pavement....

I skim those items you post and read a couple. Moderation reduces the impulse to comment.

Stephen Malkmus, singer of Pavement, sang and played guitar on several of the Dylan tunes in the movie "I'm Not There." It all comes around when you look from the middle.

I was playing golf while you were talking about golf.

There was no absence of people interested in golf where I was. We played in 4 hours 40 minutes (slow), but never had to wait, and never made anyone behind us wait. It was 65 degrees and sunny with a light breeze. Pretty good day.

Now, you can get 20 tattoos, one depicting each of the 20 subjects. Some are easier to imagine than others, some are best positioned on a part of the body that you don't see very much.

1. 2 men who look alike, 2. A deconstructing baseball, 3. a fancy-schmancy chicken, 4. a W, 5. Hillary looking offended, 6. the smiling face of Monica Lewinski, 7. the Grim Reaper laughing, 8. I agree w. Michael K. Moderation reduces the immediacy of the "to and fro" so necessary for the creation of a true group "commontariat," i.e., no "communal" inter-active real-time experience..

Ann Althouse said...

"Moderation reduces the impulse to comment."

Yes, moderation results in less impulsive commenting, more comments grounded in reflection, a variety of voices bringing different points of view in response to the post (more than as triggered by other commenters). You don't get the immediate hit of seeing your writing in print, which I know feels great. It's what you get when you're the blogger, and one way to comment is to have a blog and respond to my post from there. Then you're in the catbird seat.

Don't be such a communist.

Take it down a notch, at least, to socialism.

Or get your own blog.

Speaking of Drudge...The most provocative image of the weekend thus far has been that of Pelosi washing the feet of the illegal immigrants. Next year, maybe she can wash the feet of Cecile Richards.

So, my comments don't show reflection ? I'll keep that in mind.

If that's the illogical inference you made, you've impulsively answered your own question, ironically.

Dear Ann,

Why do you think it is better to communicate unclearly rather than clearly?

Paco Wové said...

Moderation is an evil, but it is often a lesser evil. Especially when the moderator is prompt and efficient, as it has been here. Does this sound sycophantic? Well, in that case, fuck you, Althouse! You're not the boss of me!

Seems as if your readers aren't feeling the love, or they aren't loving the feel of your blog.

20 - or should that be twenty - posts in a day. However, a lot are simply links that don't add your own commentary (which is fine) and are left for the commentators to comment on. Moderately.

Are we here for your entertainment?

You do find some interesting stuff; like a cut down intellectual Drudge.

Fandor said...

Gosh, I hope you are entertained by all the blogging you do and by comments received.
sticdr labels you an "intellectual Drudge" who finds "interesting stuff".
Well, keep up the trolling and spare us the drudgery.

By the way, your "ADDED" didn't mention my tattoo of your "iconic profile"…luv.

Just saying.
