I suspect that was my condition from ages 13 to.. lets see.. how old am I? Of course my urges weren't sudden, more like constant. Thus the difference I suppose.
It's like gay marriage. Sure gays can marry a person of the opposite sex just like everyone else, so the law is equal, but they can't get what "they" want. This guy is being punished much more harshly according to his own needs. It's unequal justice.
Likewise someone who loves the outdoors and a couch potato are not getting equal justice when imprisoned.
This is why the Euroweenies have traffic fines based on income. Same deal.
PROSECUTING COUNSEL: Exhibit "A" m'lud, Miss Rita Thang, an artist's model, Swedish accordion teacher and cane-chair sales lady, was found guilty under the Rude Behaviour Act in the accused's court. The accused, m'lud, sentenced her to be taken from this place and brought round to his place.
DEFENSE COUNSEL: Objection, m'lud.
DEFENDANT JUDGE: Objection sustained.
PRESIDING JUDGE: You shut up! Objection overruled.
PROSECUTING COUNSEL: The accused then commented on Miss Thang's bodily structure, made several not-at-all legal remarks on the subject of fun and then placed his robes over his head and began to emit low moans.
PRESIDING JUDGE: Have you anything to say in your defense?
Interesting in that having a "condition" that makes you much more likely to reoffend gets you put back into society where you have the opportunity to do so.
I think the initial sentence of 11 years for sex with a 17 year old was too draconian. Perhaps due to the educator/student relationship criminal sanctions are due, but 11 years is way too much.
The reason the Judge gave for the reduction is pure bullshit.

So would someone with a very bad temper receive a reduced sentence for manslaughter, provided that they had their condition diagnosed as, say, "hyper-aggressiveness"?
So hypersexuality is the new word for adulterous seductress? rofl, those crazy lefties, such cards. Always changing the english language to suit their justified outcomes.
OK, I'm typing this before reading the comments. That is the weakest successful defense I've ever seen. "I just couldn't help myself; I'm too highly sexed"? Honestly? You can see how well that'd go over with genders reversed.
And can we ponder "suffers from 'hypersexuality'" for a moment? Is this some new thing in DSM-5, or is it a description of a female as horny as the average teenage male, or what? And if she's "suffering" from it, can't we find some drug to dampen her libido and ease her suffering?
Hypersexuality, like other syndromes, is defined (or ill-defined) as a basket of symptoms, should not be judged as a dysfunctional behavior. It is strange, however, that it cannot be judged by the outcomes it causes or engenders.

In the age of Obama, they are all hypersenstive.. nobody is responsible least of all the perpetrator.
Only if the perp is a woman. If it is a nasty man he must be punished more severely.
Does that make sense?
Yes, depending on the results you wish to achieve.
I suspect that was my condition from ages 13 to.. lets see.. how old am I? Of course my urges weren't sudden, more like constant. Thus the difference I suppose.
No, that's crazy talk.
Hard to argue that it's not cruel and unusual.

DEFENDANT JUDGE: I haven't had any for weeks.

But yeah, I'd hit it.

Well, it is the South.
....and register as a sex offender.
She's screwed, but she doesn't know it yet.
Did she blow the judge?
Sorry, I went for the low-hanging fruit.

I feel your pain bro.
Wait, the story says that her husband has to register as a sex offender. Why?
Wait, what? Shouldn't that mean we... keep her away longer? Or get her psychological help while she's in jail?
So would someone with a very bad temper receive a reduced sentence for manslaughter, provided that they had their condition diagnosed as, say, "hyper-aggressiveness"?
I think that's terrible.
What's her phone number?
Cawthorne, whose husband Duncan stood by her throughout the hearing, will also have to register as a sex offender.
A misread Geoff.
So hypersexuality is the new word for adulterous seductress? rofl, those crazy lefties, such cards. Always changing the english language to suit their justified outcomes.
Psychology can be wonderful as an explanation, but it is poorly used as an excuse.
Trey
So...do men get this benefit as well?
Or is it only for women?
Cause men can get hella horny real damned quick.
I'm really bummed when I read stories like this, and realize that I went through high school and never once did any woman teacher want me.
Mine were fugly. It wouldn't be a loss for me.

1) It looks like BS that the husband has to register.
2) How pathetic of a loser must he be to stick with his wife after that? Damn, she might like him because his balls haven't dropped yet.
These problems can be solved. Why Anthony Weiner only needed 3 days at a sex clinic to lose his compulsion to dangle his member on the internet.

Yeah, that seems pretty drastic. I feel like 16 should be pretty much the highest age of consent.
There are probably actual rapists who served less time.
Maybe I would tweak that 16 thing for parents/step parents who abuse children living with them.

They should get her a job working in a home for old soldiers and sailors
No man would get such a reprieve.
It only makes sense if it's a hot hyper-sexual woman. She isn't.
(Almost all guys are hyper-sexual).
Try making that argument on behalf of a man.
Judge was sensitive to the War on Women being waged by Republicans.
