More adulation for a child that performs a script that serves an adult agenda. I'm really fed up with the use of children in politics.
If this child were as smart as the people who are applauding her seem to think, she could figure out for herself what she wants to eat. But she's 9, and I'm sure she is trickable. She was tricked into delivering that speech.

"She was tricked into delivering that speech."
And presumably by people who care about her and should be protecting her from exploitation.
You might be able to trick a kid into going to McDonald's once or twice but if they didn't like the food, they wouldn't always be begging to go there.
Yeah, stop making tasty food so kids won't eat it all the time. What's up with that?
Next, the do-gooders will stop using live children altogether and switch to hand puppets or sock puppets and other fraudulent means to foist agenda.
She's got the life of Julia ahead of her, the good liberal woman who designs Web sites for the government, gets her "free" birth control, and of course always votes Democrat so she can get her Social Security...
The issue is parents who don't say, "No".
What McDougal's does is marketing.
And the kid was put up to it by Corporate Accountability International (whose name alone pretty much says it), but their mission statement puts the final nail in the coffin - We protect human rights, public health and the environment from corporate greed and abuse around the world.
Notice they don't mention they want to replace that free market with the kind of socialist Hell Eastern Europe endured for 50 years.
If you look at the pic of the kid and mom you can imagine the mom's hand up the kid's ass moving her lips a la Jeff Dunham.
I agree that a meal with a coke and french fries is not healthy.
I think you can get something else at McDonalds if you want. I like to get a tea and Chicken nuggets (not a combo meal). It's not awesome, but it's not too bad, either. No corn syrup and plenty of protein.
Anyway, it is lame that people use their kids as political props so much. I notice a prominent democrat's name is usually offered in some favorable context precisely 94.82% of the time this happens.
The government is greatly at fault for all the fat kids. All this 'low fat' crap that has little nutrition and plenty of carbs, plus the panic fueled media and trail lawyer's impact on our society, where streets are usually empty of kids, playgrounds are lame, schools are free of anything potentially dangerous...
There's the problem. I ate like a pig growing up, yet I was a string bean.
The things that help kids be active, like Boy Scouts and NRA shooting contests... those things are under attack by the people who want Michelle Obama to determine what we are allowed to eat.
The crisis never ends for these people.
I got my kid a happy meal. The french fry portion was so small..... I gave him most of my fries.
So now parents just buy an extra fry along with the happy meal.
Wow!
Socialists demand bad tasting food only on menues.
That and a shortage of toilette paper warms any Communists heart.
It's for the children, it's for the children, it's for the children....
9 year old girl to everyone selling anything ever.
Oh yawn. Periodically the left wing lunatic fringe has another run at McDonalds. It happens every so many years. I have always presumed that Burger King and Wendys put them up to it.
This story would be better if the little girl had red hair and was named Wendy.
Most little kids that I know don't have the ability to take themselves to McDonald's or the money to buy the food. I suspect it is the parents who are responsible for the kids eating there. All the parents have to do is say not.
Besides.....there is nothing wrong with McDonald's food any more than there is with Denny's, IHOP, Taco Bell or any other fast food restaurant.
I agree that a meal with a coke and french fries is not healthy.
Sure, if that is ALL you ever eat. A hamburger, coke and fries once in a while isn't going to take away your trip to Heaven. Have we all turned into a bunch of puritanical nagging church ladies?
I'm really fed up with the use of children in politics.
I'm fed up with it too. That is to say, I am fed up with a culture that eats this stuff up -- right after they've gorged their fat Oprah-loving asses with Big Macs and a large order of fries.
So what is the difference in McDonald's advertising to children, which is called trickery vs. an adult influencing their nine year old to deliver such a statement? I mean, I can understand why Garage McFat boy runs into a golden arches on a daily basis, but he isn't nine.
Tricking?
Yeah, that food that tastes good sure is a "trick".
Viciously deceitful hacks.
(Her operators, not her.)
From any angle you look at it, this story has one overriding message: We are fucked.
"She was tricked into delivering that speech."
Exactly. Leftists are the great trickers of our time. There is no way a girl this young could come up with a thought on her own. What kid doesn't adore McDonalds?
Kids should be seen, not heard.
JG
What the hell is up with 9-year olds?
Halfway on the three-hour drive between our house and my mother-in-law's house is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall Korean BBQ. It's just a few miles off the turnpike. We found it with Yelp.
They have tricked my kids into wanting to eat dumplings all the time.
It used to be that we'd head off on that drive and the kids would be asking if we could stop for a happy meal.
Now they just want dumplings.
And what's with the fortune cookies? How tricky is that?
What kind of pathetic parent can't stand up to a 9 year old? Good lord. I've got an 8 & a 5 year old. They ask for something that I don't want to give them, I say no. They cry about it, they get sent to their rooms. You've got to be a spineless dolt to not be able to pull that off.
I thought MD's offered salads and egg whites?
You might be able to trick a kid into going to McDonald's once or twice but if they didn't like the food, they wouldn't always be begging to go there.
No joke. I tricked my 8 year old into eating beets once.
Exactly once.
Tell me about it. My house is on a nice hill and it's great to ride to bikes on.
...but ain't no way in Hell I'm letting any kids besides my own do so. I'm not paying for other kids' medical bills.
Sadly, I have to leave stuff in my driveway at all times to block it, since I can be held liable even if I'm not at home when an incident occurs.
Funny, I have zero problems telling my kids no to McDonald's. Mainly because eating it causes a feeling of moles burrowing out of my colon a few hours later.
The 9 year old girls getting secret birth control at Elementary school these days have developed independent streak.
We aren't big frequenters of McDonald's (children 7,4 and 2) because I refuse to waste my money on crappy food. We prefer Chik-fil-a or Freddy's if we are going to eat out.
That said, we were in the middle of lots of errands a few weeks ago and I realized we weren't going to be able to go to Costco for lunch (which was my original plan). So I found the only place that was between my point A and B---McDonalds. I forgot that they give apple slices with every happy meal now. Has anyone ever tried one of those prepackaged apples? I don't know how Big Brother thinks that is going to make every one healthier--it tasted like styrofoam. My son wouldn't eat them because he knows what real fruit is supposed to taste like.
If you feed your kids right, they won't be "tricked" into eating McDonald's all the time. Stupid activists.
My deathless opinion is, it's only junk food if you treat it like junk food. (Some things do deserve to be in moderation.)
How proud the kid's parents must be to have converted their child into a political bumper sticker. Kudos! No wonder libs consider children community property

I agree that a meal with a coke and french fries is not healthy.
The notion that entire categories of food are intrinsically unhealthy or healthy is complete bullshit.
McDonald's CEO to 9-year old girl:
"I would love to just golf every day instead of tricking 9-year old girls into eating our food. The problem, for me, is that I make good money at this job and the shareholders would fire me if I neglected their interests. In this sense it would be a lot easier to be president of the United States".
Just like the SDS and other '60s protesters: "Chicks (and children) up front!"
"Food Nazis -- I hate those guys!" -- Iron Chef Indiana Jones.
All the parents have to say is "no".
When it's 105d outside in July and the playsets are too hot to touch, those McD's PlayPlaces are a nice alternative.
I'm really fed up with the use of children in politics.
Let me be clear!
One of my teen sons has developed political attitudes similar to mine. He asks me lots of questions about politics. The other day, he asked my opinion of Obama, and I gave it to him straight (something like "he's a corrupt asshole"). I then said that he should be careful to make up his own mind, and I warned him that his classmates and teachers would likely find my assessment abhorrent.
He said, rather angrily, "I'm not a parrot."
That kid ain't gonna be brainwashed any time soon.
Dear McDonalds,
Please stop tricking me into eating at your restaurants by making them consistent, convenient, clean, easy to find, and open 24 hours. That way, when traveling, I could stress out about where my next cup of coffee is coming from or where to use the bathroom.
McDonalds isn't great, but it's reliable. And when you're in a strange place, it's an easy protein and caffeine stop.
Could somebody just teach these kids caveat emptor?
Never underestimate the wisdom of children. Sasha and Malia convinced the King of the World that SSM was supposed to be! Because gay.
Yea! A 9 yr old not taking personal responsibility for her actions and to blaming others for her failings.
The thing I like about this is imagining the kid 5 years from now when her mother continues to tell her what to like and dislike and the teen streak of defiance starts up.
I'm really fed up with the use of children in politics.
Remind me again ...what Conservative or rightwing organization is exploiting children this way?
BTW, the McDonald's Chicken Ranch BLT is really good. Their fries have also returned to being among the best. I really like their apple pies too. That they charge for water is annoying, though I do think it was filtered when I took my son to one last night.
> That they charge for water is annoying,
Huh?
Are you sure that you're not being charged for the drink glass? They charge for the small/medium/large/whatever glasses, but they also have smaller glasses that they hand out when you say "water". (In most places, the drinks are self-serve, so you get your glass and you're on your own wrt what you put in it.)
Of course, they do charge for bottled water.
no she wasn't tricked, she's been brainwashed like a lot of children. Our schools today are nothing more then indoctrination centers for liberal/progressives pushing their belies and agendas
If this child were as smart as the people who are applauding her seem to think, she could figure out for herself what she wants to eat.
Maybe she is, which would make her a lot smarter than both the author of this post, and its "adult agenda".
it's an easy protein and caffeine stop.
As well as a lot of other things.
How about rage for the mother for bringing her up to appreciate healthy, non-garbagy foods? That'll learn 'em!
After age 2, kids develop a sense of taste - at least in the sense that adults define it. Everything they were brought up to eat (and accept as natural) before that was their parents' doing.
So again, let's rage against the mom for undoubtedly spurring on her natural aversion to overly marketed (by necessity), garbage foods.
9-year old girl to Obama: stop harassing my parents and lying to the American people!
9-year old girl to Planned Parenthood: stop helping to kill babies!
I'd love to see NPR's reaction to that.
It was reported on NPR. Imagine my surprise.
The Stalinist scrotes from these Party organs should be punched upside the head. if you don't like it, don't eat it. Parents need to raise their kids, not turn it over to the Party.
And when this girl grows up, she will be just another nice girl, will dream about joining the peace corps, study ballet and the like. at some point she may even marry amoslem and join religion of peace. another Katherine Russell in the making.
Why doesn't the corporate accountability take their money, open up a restaurant that sells inexpensive, not totally tasteless food and a fun experience for children that meets corporate accountability's nutritional guidelines? Why tell McDonalds how to run their enterprise when you can just start your own competing eneterprise?
Are you as dietary smart as a fifth grader?
Look, when your average 9 year old has had a hard day at the office, they can make up their own damned mind what advertising du-jour they are taken in by. It's their damned money and if they want a fruity shake and a McWotsit, it's their own damned decision. Oh, wait.
She's smart enough to recognize marketing, but she is incapable of resisting its persuasion. This is why we assume, reasonably, that human beings before a certain age are incapable of offering consent. They are insufficiently aware of their environment, including the motives of other people.
This is why parents, first, and society, second, intervene on their behalf. This is why, among other reasons, including financial, emotional, mental capacity, we have statutory rape laws.
