"Sometimes we see a lot of things that we don’t let get to you – because it’s not time appropriate, it’s insensitive, and it’s just wrong. And that was wrong."

"We really messed up, and we are all really sorry. That didn’t belong on TV."
Shep Smith, after Fox News shows a man shoot himself in the head.

He's been pushing the envelope since Katrina.
Now it's pushed back.
It would be nice someday to see adults treated like adults in Amerika, with the right to decide for themselves what to view, and see them able to view news and photos not made safe for children.
We need a Pied Piper to relieve us of the kiddie curse.
We are so lucky to have this clown protect us from things we should not see.
I saw that happen. It was not particularly messy, but you never want to see a human life end before your eyes.
It's hard to see what technical glitch was responsible. Shepherd Smith tried to say that they had put the video on delay to avoid showing what they eventually showed, but the way it appeared to me, it was Shepherd who was on tape delay, since his reaction was a good five seconds after the suicide as it appeared on video.
I saw it also, very bad taste. Especially with Shep's flipent comments about the carjacker during the hours of the chase. It was obvious to anyone with a brain things were going to go downhill fast after he left the car. Shep is an idiot.
I thought everyone got bored with live car chases back in the 90s. I can't believe they're still being televised.
The guy went forever, didn't you think at the time he knew he'd have to stop for gas? How fortunate to jack a car with a full tank of gas, unless you do that right at the gas station. Eventually you're going to run out gas.
I was thinking while watching what a total pain in the ass vehicle ownership is. I never enjoyed it. A license required just to drive one. Car must be registered. Registration requires inspection. Inspection requires driver's license ID. Insurance. You must have proof of all three. Oil changes. Regular maintenance. Seasonal maintenance. Repairs. Tires.
And this guy just jacks a car without even thinking about how much gas is in it.
Shep Smith kept asking, "Where's he going? Where's he going? Where's he going? Where's he going? Where's he going? Where's he going?" and I'm over here *mute* He doesn't know where he's going, you dip stick. I talk to the TV. It's a bad habit and an early sign of the onset of madness.
I remember Bud Dwyer's televised suicide when I was a kid in Pennsylvania.
Come on, they figured it was going to happen. They went to a very wide shot and, when he did it, you really saw nothing. Get your panties out of their twist, Orangeman.
I don't understand his surprise. He and his buddy in the chopper are showing a car chase. Why? Because it is exciting. It could end in a crash. The bigger, the better. That is why they show it, and why, I suspect, people watch it. They want the snuff. He's surprised that he finally succeeded?
I didn't see the video of the chase or the suicide, but I did see Mr. Smith's apology.
I was impressed that he actually, simply, apologized. Usually these media and entertainment types give us a fake apology. When that idiot on ABC linked an innocent guy to that shooting in Colorado, it was a pro forma half-apology--when the guy should have been fired.
My only disappointment is that some helpful and armed citizen did not shoot to the ground that very dangerous criminal---And have that broadcast on every TV news show.
Que sera sera. Guy dies. Kills himself. Hopefully didn't kill others. I don't want to know the backstory presented as a national porno-violence story. Locally, it may have some relevance.
Bread and Circuses. Distractions. SQUIRRELS + 11
Why do they broadcast this anyway. This and Jersey Shore ....total train wrecks.
I know bread and circuses are the pablum that we are feeding to the masses....but...we do have an off button. Or least most of us do.
Use it people!
If you want to see a more disturbing live TV suicide, google or look up Budd Dwyer. He was a Pennsylvanian politician back in the 70/80s.
It's seriously graphic and may be best to just read about.
It's somewhat similar to what happened today, but I think worse. I accidentally stumbled upon it trying to find the video of today's incident.

Hey man, nice shot.
You have to ask yourself whether or not Shep Smith belongs on television.
Was Dwyer in trouble of some sort?
Soon all car chases will end with JDAM missiles launched from domestic drones.
Was Dwyer in trouble of some sort?
In the early 1980s, Pennsylvania discovered its state workers had overpaid federal taxes due to errors in state withholding. Many accounting firms competed for a multimillion-dollar contract to determine compensation to each employee. In 1986, Dwyer was convicted of receiving a bribe from a California firm trying to gain the contract. Throughout his trial and after his conviction, he maintained that he was innocent of the charge and that he had been framed.
This is nothing. Good riddance to a sub-human animal. He did it to himself. Want to feel bad about seeing something horrid, then go look at the videos of AQ beheading Americans or dragging our ambassador in Libya through their shit stained streets.

He hit that artery dead on that the blood gushing from his mouth and nose looked like a waterfall. I remember seeing that too.
Great tips, I want i might of seen it sooner. i do know i would like additional business cards than I even have, lol.Alcohol Swabs
The crap that passes for news today.
Shep's a fag.
If Fox and all the rest of the news channels didn't feel the need to live broadcast car chases simply for higher ratings sake I would have more sympathy for his embarrassment.
I watched it.
Did Shep Smith go to the William Shatner School for Over-Acting?? He also seemed to know what was going to happen before it happened.
