"MSNBC pundits said Clint Eastwood’s GOP convention speech Thursday night was a 'bizarre' and 'embarrassing' 'disaster'..."

Key word: MSNBC.
“Clint Eastwood was a disaster,” Lawrence O’Donnell said.

“I thought Clint Eastwood was bizarre,” Ed Schultz said. “It was demeaning to the presidency.”
Ha ha ha. That wasn't even a comedy routine (as Eastwood's performance was).

ADDED: I hope if anyone does any comedy at the Democratic convention that Ed Schultz will be fair and balanced enough to say it demeans the presidency. Maybe he should be a little more concerned about what demeans journalism.

AND: Here's the whole Eastwood performance. Is it really that hard to get? No, they're merely playing dumb (and humorless), even though they want the other party to be known as "the stupid party."

UPDATE: I just rewatched the performance. It was great! Hilarious... subtle... well-paced.... The haters are totally bullshitting and playing dumb (assuming they are not actually dumb). And what they are trying to do is scare other celebrities: Toe the line or we will destroy you. That crushing repression is the opposite of what the performing arts should be about.

ALSO: "Why the criticism and mockery of Clint Eastwood will backfire."

I love Clint Eastwood. I thought he was pretty darn funny. The dis- respect they are showing to Clint for being a senior. Is the same dis-respect they will show to your grandma and grandpa.

Describing "Anvil Joe" Biden as "the intellect of the Democrat Party" brought tears to my eyes.
Obviously, the Democrat faithful did not see it as funny, but Eastwood is old and sage not to give a rats a--!!
It was the 23,000,000 unemployed Americans that got him fired up.

Anyone seen the "speaker list" for the DNC. This is going to be like going to the freak show at the circus.
I've never seen such an array of malcontents and deviants. The only one they're missing is Barney Frank.

There is nothing more embarrassing than MSNBC's ratings.

Many of you really didn't get Clint's act - it's like many of his movies where he comes into help the town. The locals at first are doubtful and then some of them rally to put down the bad guys - PEOPLE, that's what happened on Thursday!
God it makes me proud to be in the 'town' that Clint saved ....

Someone speaking their mind, OMG, how shockingly inappropriate!!!

And what a relief in that thick cloud of earnestness and sentimentality.

Thanks, Clint.

Clint was rambling and stuttering like a certain parrot when speaking without teleprompter.

With empty chair, Clint was pointing out that a LEADER was missing in action when the Nation is facing depression like crisis.

I thought Liberals are all very smart and educated! They didn't get Clint's comedic skit!

My nonliberal friend said the Eastwood speech made his dick hurt. I feel like the speech polarized on aesthetic rather than political grounds. My dad said he thought the speech was crazy, but showed Eastwood as a true artist.

The Farmer.. to be fair, it was supposed to sound that way. The stuttering and pauses and lost "what did you say to me" attitude is part of the skit. Much of it is also ad-libbed. Usually, however, this sort of thing (talking to an empty chair and being interrupted by one) is done in plays which aren't broadcast on TV.

The whole thing probably works better for the live audience than it does for those watching from home - which seems to be the case from the reaction of the crowd at the RNC.

It was still funny and got the point across, however.

I thought Eastwood's performance, was great, it was the best thing at the convention, and I'm liberal Democrat and an Obama supporter. Do you want to make something of that? Go ahead, make... (you finish it.)

I am blessed enough to have been reared during one of the greatest times in the 20th Century (the 60s, 70s, and 80s) for a child/young adult to be able to develop a smashing sense of humor unfettered by political correctness. Clint Eastwood is a multifaceted legend who was revamping Bob Newhart and Morey Amsterdam shtick to a fine art form. Oh my goodness, don't you people ever watch TVland for crying out loud??? I LOVED IT. So far as demeaning the office of the President, BHO been doing that for almost four years. "When someone doesn't do the job, you gotta let 'em go" Well, BO, GET GOING. Clint, you can stay--let's chat about that Paint Your Wagon thingy :)
