The pool reporter was impressed with what Parker had done with the place: There was “ample” art on the walls, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a pair of marble fireplaces. The fireplace mantels were adorned with flowers, and so were the tables, which also had votives — Wintour’s touches, perhaps.Ample art — can't we get a better description? I can't picture anything. Ample? I'm picturing this.
Some Occupy-type protesters were down the street, on the other side of a a police barricade. One of them said, "It’s not a fund-raiser; it’s just trying to get famous people to amplify him."
Ample... amplify.... Damn. I've go the set-up for I joke, but I just can't find it.

What a coincidence! I was just a few dozen blocks away, pawning some silver to try to make rent this month.
"It’s not a fund-raiser; it’s just trying to get famous people to amplify him."
Good one. Isn't that what it is all about?
Brownstone? I thought Sarah Jessica Parker was kept in a stable.
By "ample" art, they mean a great many paintings by Rubens.

wacka wacka wacka
(Does my getting that joke mean my humanities classes in college weren't worthless?)

"These go to eleven."
I heard that Parker was partial to George Stubbs
It's really bugging me (for no particular reason) the reporter tries to credit Wintour for some stupid votive candles.
And the group went to the UN I hear. So we are paying for this. Honest? Respectable? Responsible? Just words, just phrases.

Later in the evening, they all took turns trying on Anna Wintour's hair.
So who did the two best teats in the house belong to? We know it's not Wintour.
Obama made a quick photo op pit stop at the new world trade center building to sign some girders and allow the taxpayers to pick up the tab for his campaign travel.
All presidents seem to attract and be attracted by the rich and famous, but with Obama it tends to be the haute demi-monde.

Yeah, she wanted to commission her official portrait to Stubbs, but was crushed to learn he was dead.
Wintour has a Obama designer collection for the campaign. After the election there will be great close-out offerings at Loehman's. Get them fast as they will become collector's items.
Palladian has been on fire the last week--well done, sir
The Wintour of our discontent.
Sounds like Sarah has a pretty nice stable.
Wintour talked Marc Jacobs into designing a line of pet clothes to promote Obama. After careful consideration and the application of prodigious talent Jacobs came up with a red, white and blue circle with "I bark for Obama" inscribed. Here's my riff on that POS.
I see Scott M beat me to the "stable" joke. I was just amplifying his.
@DADvocate,
No need to explain. The stable joke has ample possibilities for amplification.

I give these comments two hooves, way up.
Ample.
$2 million for one night of fundraising. Not bad Bambi, not bad at all.
"Ample... amplify.... Damn. I've go the set-up for I joke, but I just can't find it."
'Indeed I shan't!' Alice said rather impatiently. 'I don't belong to this railway journey at all — I was in a wood just now — and I wish I could get back there.'
'You might make a joke on that, said the little voice close to her ear: 'something about "you would if you could," you know.'
'Don't tease so,' said Alice, looking about in vain to see where the voice came from; 'if you're so anxious to have a joke made, why don't you make one yourself?'
sigh
Obama and the 1 percenters: closer than 2 ticks in a mattress.
Sooo....who won the lottery for the 2 extra seats that Wintour was promoting??
That Parker woman keeps a tight tether on that Broderick boy, the terminal juvenile. A real pair of pug uglies, especially in middle age.
Lived in that neighborhood a long time before it became the Upper East Side South. (Funny how the gays reverse ghettoize a neighborhood.) They all moved to Chelsea. I moved back to Park Slope, which in the interim had been hit with an ugly stick.
I'll take the lesbians over the celebs anytime.

Do we have to take either?
Parker had a decent showing @ the Belmont, after a poor performance @ the Preakness.
Franklin and Eleanor treated the Windsors to hot dogs back in '39 - state visit, but you get the feeling they had better sense than to go for something like this.
And Roger's right on the money.

I would have normally called that an oxymoron, but in this case...
Another thread winner, alongside Palladian.
"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

His appeal is becoming more selective.
Then trade on having to think of eleven, which makes it a joke.
The art of couture as practiced by Wintour upon Sarah Jessica Parker is much more expensive than the sport of dressage as practiced by Ann Romney, but the mockery will be muted. I can't help but think that the runway shows would be more exciting if they had hurdles and water obstacles.....I have a feeling that there was nothing on the Wintour menu in excess of Michelle's dietary guidelines. So there's one area that the Obamas weren't being totally hypocritical about.
I wonder how the two peasants enjoyed the evening.
Is there any way SJP and Anna, elite and rich beyond comprehension, could have made this event warm and inclusive? The campaign must be desperate to raffle off $3 tickets for entre into their palaces.
And knock off the jokes about SJP's looks. It was funny...once. She works hard with what she's got and has succeeded.
So they had floor-to-ceiling bookshelves installed in the room for appearances? I wonder who bought the unread books to stock them with, and what the choices were.
Ulta Rich and famous bubble dwelling ivory tower out-of-touchers for Obama.
Ample... amplify.... Damn. I've go the set-up for I joke, but I just can't find it.
I think you're copping an amplitude about size.

Palladian actually seems to be in a state of decay as judged by his changing avatar. He has a flaming one too but we haven't seen it for a while.
A horse and a cow walk into a bar...
Wait! That's now funny.
Does "more cowbell" fit in anywhere?
Amplify the cowbell? Nope I can't get one either.
Oy! There's nothing edifying about a group of self-satisfied would-be wits displaying their collective lack of the essential quality necessary to their endeavor--wit.
Ample and Wintour don't fit easily into the same sentence. Ample is more a Clinton kind of adjective. Minimal and Wintour go together like peanut butter and jelly.
I'm my minds eye it is one of those rooms with the whole wall covered in small to medium sized art in extra fancy frames. "ample art" is code speak cluttered lack of good taste

You're right, it must have been a really tedious party.

Just for you, chickelit
Fireplace? She should remove them immediately and replace them with solar panels or wind power heating devices. They sound gloriously ungreen....
I see Michelle had one of her ammo belt, cutesy too-small sweater outfits on. Surely the arbiter of style and fashion, ample art and votive candles can't approve of these dreadful wardrobe choices.
