"Head of polygamous cult pleads guilty to murder of 4-year-old boy he bizarrely believed was gay."

The Daily News reports:
Peter Moses... marked the little boy for death after he decided his father was gay. When Jadon struck another boy in the buttocks, Moses concluded it was a sign of the child’s homosexuality, and decided to “get rid of him,” prosecutors said.

The bipolar cult leader — called “Lord” by his followers — took the screaming boy into a garage and shot him in the head with his mother’s gun while speakers blared music with The Lord’s Prayer in Hebrew, prosecutors charged.

He had members of his harem put the boy’s corpse in a suitcase and stash it in his suite — until it started to smell.

Of your tags, the only one that makes any sense is "murder".

Could add "cults" and "mental illness."

Crazy cult leaders seems to attract idiots who follow them, and it defies all possible explanation. Are the followers that stupid? I don't know that they are, when it starts. Do they figure that anyone so incredibly mad must be telling the truth, the lie is so outrageous that no one who was lying would ever dare tell it?

Is that it?

Wow. Another false prophet cult. Eugenics plants itself into the minds of all type of crazies.

Basic Eugenics is permission to kill people for the good of the society...and the speaker always wants to do the good deeds to his own private list of Bad Ethnics, especially those other members of his family who bring him shame by loving people.

I have only one group on my to be killed list. When seemingly normal people dress up antisemitism in fancy theories, then they are the ones that need to be killed.

Admittedly it's not much my business bu that seems like one totally arbitrary place to draw the line. Must be a personal history thing.

Let's see ...

Peter Moses, who led a small sect called the Black Hebrews in Durham, N.C

Black Hebrews ... I'm guessing there are not a lot of Black Hebrew right-wingers.

Six. Damn it, I wish I'd taken bets.

How about blaming the crazy-ass murderer.

And the complicit women.

Waiting to see how many comments till the liberals are blamed.

And why would you think "liberals" would be blamed? I'd be interested to know.

OTOH, if you'd said Waiting to see how many comments till the Christians are blamed, you'd have a more likely bet. In fact, Hat's a little behind schedule right now.

Astonishing what absolute truth makes people capable of.

Synova said...

Oh, and "it's not the right-wingers" is not blaming liberals.

Unless one suffers (and I do mean "suffers") under the delusion that there must be ideological blame and it must be either liberals or right-wingers.

Someone deciding to blame religious people is likely enough. And someone is probably going to connect "religious" to "right-wing", almost guaranteed.

Saying that's not so, isn't blaming liberals.

Egad.

.. the sect, which preached that blacks will reign supreme after a race war.

Yeah, it's a real stretch to suggest that these people support Barack "I Hate My White Blood" Obama and Eric "My People" Holder.

Yeah, some things are pretty clear.

And at least they locked the fellow up, right? Or is he going to a mental ward?

"Waiting to see how many comments till the liberals are blamed."

Well, it only took three comments for a liberal to make this about politics and start throwing out accusations.

The "homosexuality" tag is there because the man was (apparently) motivated by his ideas about homosexuality.

That those ideas were monstrously stupid/insane and his action based on those ideas was criminal does not mean that they were not about homosexuality.

I don't have a separate "homophobia" tag.

If Crack were awake, he would blame New Age, and then the rest of us for not listening to him.

Ah, and not complicit women either... looks like he took a plea to avoid capital punishment and is going to testify about how his "wives" shot his girl-friend who tried to escape.

I apologize to my sex for assuming that the women were somehow bamboozeled into a weird situation they didn't know how to get out of.

There is a separate sect of black Jews in the Ethiopia-Somaila area IIRC who contend they are one of the original 12 tribes.

This is something entirely different.

Synova said...

I doubt he was actually motivated by that. Though it certainly was the excuse he gave.

The boy was the only child in the house not his. A crazy man giving in to the primal compulsion to kill any offspring not his own hardly needs an excuse.

Chilling. I do wonder how rare these cults are, maybe Crack knows something we don't want to see. Do these groups seclude themselves from society, don't townspeople get suspicious of what is going on and send out the social workers?

But I'm certain these groups are good at hiding abuse, until something like this happens.

Ahmadinejad, Assad, and all Muslims. You aren't an anti-Muslim bigot, are you campy? That's just a form of racism since they're predominately brown and few are lily white.

So the lesson here is don't join a cult.

Poor kid.

Shanna said...

I should say the only lesson is don't join a cult.

It's unwise to try to draw general conclusions from the actions of crazy people (ie, about politics, religion, etc). They just go in the 'that person is crazy' pile with all the rest.

And then he'd tell us it's really all part of Romney's secret plan to impose Mormonism on America.

I do wonder how rare these cults are, though.

Hard to say. If you lived through the Satanic cult / ritual child abuse cult hysteria of the 1980s, you could be forgiven for thinking every third person you saw was either a devil worshipper or a pederast.

Cult followers aren't necessarily stupid, it's that they want to believe. They want to believe so badly that they will queue up agreeably for the executioner or act willingly as the executioner's proxy.

Do they figure that anyone so incredibly mad must be telling the truth?

Does the leader's sanity or honesty matter, or even that the audience actually believes it? So long as the madman's rantings explain away failures and misfortunes, or, especially, posit an Other which the audience can scapegoat, who cares whether the madman can't exactly connect-the-dots? They've got a straw to grasp, and that's all that matters.

Depends. If the kid was a fag, plea deal. (That your thinking, Mr. Good-Guy Liberal?)

But if it turns out they killed a straight little boy, throw the book at em, eh?

Even suspected gay ones.

(You missed that "lesson" in Annie's "homosexuality" teachings today, eh?)

@ PHX @11:47...Sorry for bring that up.

In my lifetime I have discovered the harm done by taking a neutrality stance to Jew hatred teachings. There is not a middle ground allowed. The Jew haters want what they want and if you get in their way they will list you for the same treatment. I have found that personally standing up for the Jews leads to attacks coming from otherwise ordinary normal folks.

Where do you escape from that? Nowhere, so take them on.

It's interesting that the name of the cult "mysteriously" disappeared.
And the name is Black Hebrews.
What's the problem, why omitting?

Peter Lucas Moses is said to be the leader of the Black Hebrews religious sect.
