"Not 100 available online. the lengthier ones of 9 minutes or so are "album only"."
You don't get it. The album is what's on sale for $0.99. You can't buy the tune individually, but the ones that you can buy individually cost as much as the whole album.
"album only" usually means you can't purchase the music separately, but only if purchase the entire album. (Sometimes this is done for contractual reasons, other times it's a total mystery.)

But in this case, the whole album is the same price as any one track that is available, so you can buy the whole thing and throw out the tracks you don't want.
I assume that people who are already into classical music would reject this collection, but a young person who listens to other genres but likes movies could find this very appealing. It is a wide door of entry for them.
campy said... I can't understand wht anyone would want a disc of "bleeding chunks" like this. Just listen to the whole piece, already.
I'd rather listen to the whole piece too, at least in the case of the operas. But:

And those who decide to go listen to, say, the Callas/Di Stefano/Serafin Rigoletto after hearing La donna e mobile are going to have their minds blown. They will become lifelong opera fans if they have any taste at all. The Flying Dutchman overture? Nessun Dorma? Una Furtiva Lagrima? Those are some high quality gateway drugs!
And then there are those of us who like classical music but aren't all that educated about it, so we don't have the albums in questions. This is a nice option for us. If I find a piece here that I like, I'll look for more.
I like classical music (but no, I'm not that educated on it). I find it relaxing. It's great for my treadmill workouts. The treadmill elevates to keep my heart at a target rate; but classical music and a good book relax me, and my heart rate goes down. So the treadmill has to elevate to compensate, and thus my calorie burn rate increases. I get good music, a good book, and good exercise all at the same time. And now thanks to you, I've got music for my next two treadmill sessions at least, maybe more.
And just like they read my mind (Amazon can do that, you know), one of the recommended links after I bought this album was Classical Music for the Reader 5. Yes, number 5 in a series of albums of music selected for the reading experience. Looks like I'll be buying more on your referral today, Professor!
I like the instrumental version of "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" but I don't remember all the words. They should include the better known version in cases like this.
ndspinelli, get your head out of your ass. Althouse is completely within bounds in using the internet as a tool to make as much money as she can. She's a player, and instead of snarking at her, try it yourself.

Maybe you need someone who has worked in the private sector to teach the teacher how to operate in a competetive enviroment. Or, you could ask a marketing professor.
Ann, Thanks for the link. You must be overloading the Amazon system (kching$$$s) as it worked perfectly until I got the last step..."download the music".
My big frustration with classical music has always been the names of the songs - "Piano Concerto No. 5 in E Flat Major" just doesn't do it for me.
At least there are some with cool names that give you a sense of what the music is about - Ride of the Valkyries, Hall of the Mountain King, Also Sprach Zarathustra...
Thanks, Ann. This fits in my budget. I also think it's an interesting way to bridge classical music and pop-culture to a wider audience. Don't spend that 0.07 in one place. But, seriously, I think if you give out more interesting things like this find your readership appreciate it.
*P.S.* Does anyone else think that the girl on that mp3 cover is the same one that does the "Sexy librarian" commercial for Pearle Vision?

Here's one not on the original 45.
Our camp Nurse is quite a swimmer She says swimming makes you slimmer Her name's Ms. Rosalini Have you ever seen a whale in a bikini?
I recently bought some ukulele sheet music, so they recommended 66 songs for Spanish guitar for .99. Speaking of gateway drugs, that little .99 splurge got me more recommendations and the next thing I knew, I'd spent like $5. Got some Brahms and a collection of 50 meditation tracks.
I've got Dvorak, Schubert and a couple others in my wish list now for when I save up a few more bucks. (Not Beethoven, Mozart, Bach or Vivaldi as I own a frightening number of CDs of their stuff already).
Seriously, though, this is amazing. For about $20, you can fill up your iPod with a collection that would have cost $1000 ten years ago. If you have or think you'll ever have an interest in classical music, you could do far worse than to download a composer a day for a week or two to start your exploration of the genre.

bad link
Ha. Ha. The link goes to Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique" - very funny.
Best mis-link ever.
When I click, I get The Feminine Mystique.
I don't have to read it, I live with it.
Sorry!!!
Fixed.
The link to "The Feminine Mystique" was used in the post on 2-income families.

Not 100 available online. the lengthier ones of 9 minutes or so are "album only".
They missed the score of the B&W Lone Ranger episodes, which was not only classical, but almost all opera.
WV "tonaaa" What Mrs Ton screams when Ton hits the exact right spot.

What campy said!
The music is nice. The cloud drive is sort of a nuisance. Probably I'm just not accustomed to it.

What's 7% of $.99.
Answer: Just under $.07. Maybe Amazon will round it up for you.

I'm not doing this monetizing things as well as I could.
Coming soon: Pants on sale!

Then it would be $1.29, not $0.99
Think, man, think.
It's hard to figure how they left off the Barry Lyndon Schubert stuff. Kubrick was good at this business.
Hey! There's some Bugs Bunny music in here too.

So I need to return a bit later to download it.

That much beauty for a price that's essentially free is nothing short of astonishing.
Thank you for posting this.

Presumably not a short sale.
