I don't go to bed with no whore, and I don't wake up with no whore. That's how I live with myself. I don't know how you do it. - Carl Fox, "Wall Street"
Wasn’t this in an early episode of “Law and Order”? Two bored soccer moms start an “escort” business that caters to wealthier clients only to be blackmailed by a private detective who turns up dead.

This one goes back to "NYPD" (1967). In that one, the cops stumble across the girls and their little start-up and one of the moms accuses one of rape.
There is an old saying that committing adultery is always stupidly dangerous because there is always one other person who knows that you did it. ( See, Rielle Hunter.)
Discretion is the promise not to disclose that information.
When I was on a cruise in the Mediterranean in 1969, in all the ports there were lots of bars named "Texas Bar", "Miami Bar" and so on.
They were generally OK places to drink but they also had lots of bar girls. They would come sit with lonely sailors and basically just talk. They could not be touched, they would not leave the bar with anyone. You bought them glasses of "champagne" and they sat and kept you company.
Myself, I never understood the attraction but they did a land office business.
I am more a George Higgins type: "I can understand why men go with whores. Sometimes you just want to get laid without having to listen to all the music before and after."
For that there was the alley's of Naples (and other ports)

Why does the daughter think her Mom tells her everything? That would be a very unhealthy mother-daughter relationship IMO.

discretion, in the which better part I have sav'd my life." Falstaff
Does a "discrete" half and half describe just that one romp, or does it mean nobody ever finds out about it?
This is right up there with: "I only read Playboy for the articles".

Let's see. How many people are exploiting this young woman?
The celebrity judge.
Anderson Cooper and his staff.
Jabba The Hut (the lawyer on the end of the couch.)
And Mom?
Oh, no. Not mom!
I understand that the woman is an adult, etc, etc., but could they mount their publicity blitz without inducing her to do this?
Left out her dad. Hi, dad!
What percentage of the guys who "dated" these girls for their "discretion" got laid on the first "date"?
Another family business threatened by the inheritance tax.
It wasn't sex that brought men to accused Soccer Mom Madam Anna Gristina
Sadly, I think that in NYC, it is worse to be accused of being a Soccer Mom than a Madam.
PS Check the tag. Probably ought to be something more than 'the'.
WV "dogess" Polite term for word that rhymes with witch.

Then it's true what they say: that the 24 year old daughter from a previous marriage is always the last to know.
That is a professional calling to be discrete. Attorneys use it.
So she was a professional who earned her money. The Escort buyers were the immoral ones.

Exactly how was she harming anyone?
It probably makes everyone feel better to make it about "discretion."
Without sex where's the need for discretion?

Isn't prostitution a "choice"? Don't women (and men)have absolute autonomy over their own bodies?
Should not feminists, such as our hostess, be clamoring to get this woman out of jail?
Should not feminists be clamoring to legalize prostitution?
Or does "choice" only apply to abortion? (And only to abortion is the woman is not aborting a girl or gay baby)
Support Ron Paul. Support our rights to our own bodies.
(Not sure where Paul stands on prostitution specifically. He does stand for bodily autonomy)

She is the daughter. I don't expect her to embrace her mother as an upscale whore house madam.
I saw the sexual enounters on the new show, "Girls". They were joyless and icky. I can see the advantages of going to a prostitute.

Yes. We all have rights to happy endings if we wish.
The money afterwards is for the companionship, not the sex.
