Whiteout at Culver's.

Photo 30

In Rochelle, Illinois. Less than 100 miles from home. Restored by cheeseburgers and onion rings, we soldier on.

UPDATE: We're safe at home in Madison.

Meade needs to hurry back.

There's censoring to be done!

Well, drop and give us 10!

And, yes, be careful out on those roads.

Well, the snowplow just went down my residential street, Ann, and they usually don't get to us until pretty late in the plowing process. So maybe the roads on the last leg will be okay for you and Meade.

That is one bodacious onion ring right there!

I usually don't eat at Culver's, more a matter 20 miles to the nearest one, not the great butterbuger.

My Mom loved their grilled cheese sandwich. I enjoyed springing her from assisted living whenever I visited, and we always stopped at Culver's for Mom's lunch. I made sure Mom had strawberries on her frozen yogurt...old age is for treats and time together.

The big lesson I learned driving semi: stopping is harder than driving. Be safe you two.

Those look like tasty onion rings. And there's not a carrot stick in sight. No vortex yet, either.

Among the things I like about Ann is that she does not appear to be a health (food) nut. Ribs, beans and fries, then this. Good living.

I could use some cheese curds.

You should have gone to the Maid Rite in Rockford!

Make sure you drive with the windows down.

Speaking of whiteouts, that's what I get when I try to bring up Althouse posts on my Blackberry. The main page is fine, buy individual posts appear for a few seconds then go white.

It's been doing this for nearly a week.

Yes, this is a complaint.

That looks soooooo good.

I've been to Rochelle Illinois, but ate at the truck stop.

What's so hard about stopping? Just aim for a nearby pile of stuff bigger than your vehicle.

Yeah, about half the Sullivan thread!

Note to the Comment Police: Save yourselves some time and just delete everything on that one.

Fried foods, while delicious, are unhealthy.

May I suggest some arugula?

Drive carefully.

Welcome back, though why you want to come back to Wisconsin, of all places, is a minor mystery. The city of Madison seems pretty large for an asylum, but there's no better way to characterize it.

Google Chrome does this on certain posts, but not others. Have no idea why.

Since Blogger is Google, Chrome should be the last browser to have a problem.

BTW, there was no problem with snow in the air or on the roads except in that small area around Rochelle.

If you're home, Madame, glad you made it safely.

Culvers came to AZ a while ago. Culvers is from Wisconsin.

Why isn't everyone in Wisconsin dead from heart disease?

A shame really. Portillo's has a better burger. Not as good as an In and Out burger, but still very good.

I've never been to the Culver's in Rochelle IL.

But I've been to many others in the franchise.
