"The 43-year-old Floridian was busted last week on a variety of criminal charges after he allegedly got intoxicated, shot his lawnmower with a .380 pistol, brawled with his teenage son, and had to be tased three times by police."
No, assholes, this wasn't me.
A .380? That's a purse gun, completely inappropriate for a lawnmower. I'd have used at least a .357.
Reminds me of what the co-ed who plowed her car into an abutment said to the judge after she was found DUI, "Well, that's what college students are supposed to do. Go out and get drunk and have accidents".
Well imagine if the elites had to deal with redneck cops coming in to their condos and enforcing THEIR values. I'm thinking it could lead to more tolerance in our society, and a little more respect for minding your own business.
South of St Augustine Florida has no civilization not connected to seaports areas where a degree of foreign influences meld in with the insane natives of the interior.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my experience the term red neck simply means a farmer with no education. It is not an ethnic slur. It is a class distinction.
The Hill Billies were the Scots Irish descendants that were trapped in and around the Shenandoah and the Smoky Mountains. They were the fighters who would not surrender. Some got a good education to go with their fighting heritage; such as, Andrew Jackson, Sam Houston, and Thomas J (Stonewall) Jackson.
Indeed. If Pigford taught us nothing else, it showed that there are a shitload of black farmers. In any population that could reasonably be characterized as a shitload, there are bound to be some uneducated among them.

Did the lawnmower survive?
Now if he said "We are the 99%" then they'd let him go and he'd get a good sound-bite on NPR.
Sure, fighting is what redneck people do. Getting arrested is also what redneck people do.

This is why Fark.com has a "Florida" tag.

Her Honor was not amused.
I had a lawnmower like that once.
Drew W ...
What, you had an uppity lawnmower?

He's just a drunken idiot. He's the furthest thing from a redneck. Please look up the history of rednecks. You would be surprised.

They shoot lawnmowers, don't they???

Hello! Old-line Ulster Scot Presbyterian here. Thanks for the shout-out.
The history of Hillbillies is similar. The term has roots in Ulster and William of Orange.
South of St Augustine Florida has no civilization not connected to seaports areas where a degree of foreign influences meld in with the insane natives of the interior.
I remember when diversity was respected.
“Fighting is what redneck people do.”
Oh, I thought that's just what rich Hollywood celebrities do. TMZ has a whole tab dedicated to fights.
And...
shot his lawnmower with a .380 pistol...
Was he out of shotgun shells?
Rednecks don't say "Don't tase me, bro," but if they did this guy would've had to say "Don't tase me, bro" three times! And it still would'na worked.
Just another redneck weekend.
We also fuck.
Its true. Ask the guy who had to eat his own beard.
fighting is what redneck people
What do wetbacks do? Jump fences?
What do niggers do? Steal whatever isn't nailed down?
"Alex, I'll take bigoted Ethnic Slurs for $500"
All the stigma of the stereotype and none of the benefits.
That certainly explains the bloodstains on my WWRPD? bracelet.

Come on, Tradguy, surely you know about the Covenanters.
WV - venimit - all my words are on the wrong threads

Then why is it only used for rural whites?
Its usually used by liberals in ignorance to stereotype rural whites as ignorant bigots.
The epitome of Irony.

Hundreds of episodes of Cops don't lie.
What traditionalguy said...
And, as usual, what Fen said-
Then why is it only used for rural whites?
Oh come on, when black farmers spend all day in the fields are their necks red?
The term has racist connotations, but unlike a lot of people with paper maché skin, I find it harmless.
WV: hozotamy. I have nothing, other than this is the greatest WV word I've ever seen.
there are bound to be some uneducated among them.
I find it comforting to know (and it makes life easier) to know there are stupid people everywhere.
"to know ... to know"
Stupid people like me, apparently.

The larger irony is that they are democrats.
