This was talked about on HotAir the other day (linked from Instapundit) with the revealing moment being the protesters distinction between personal property (i.e. stuff owned by the protester) which he was in favor of and private property (i.e. stuff owned by other people) which he was not in favor of.
Glad you post this, Ann. I'm really interested in hearing what the resident OWS superfriends think about the difference between private property and personal property...and the lack of willingness to lend an iPad2 to a less fortunate soul.
The way the MSM misrepresented the Tea Party rallies contrasted with the way the MSM whitewashed the #Occupy violence has finally convinced me.
They aren't just biased, the are the Enemy. When the Soviet Union was still around, there was a type of person that whored their intellectual integrity out to the Party. Little Winston's all doctoring the news and consigning ungood information to the memory whole. No matter how many people it killed.
These are them.
Maybe it won't be so bad if the walls come down. We could hunt them.
The wonderful petrie dish that was Zuccotti Park should have taught the occupiers irony at the very least. In the course of two months the "community" devolved into something much, much worse than what they are railing against. A very stark divide between the iPad owners and the drummers, between the lily white college kids and the darker end of the park.
I am anxious to hear how they will split up the money. The half a million dollars will be a tempting little nugget to those who possess the check books and who have signing rights at the institution that holds the dough.
The MSM's curiosity about the money is absent. Perhaps they will split the money based on tenure and hours spent in service to the cause. Hope the IRS is alert to the disposition of the money.
This woman is great..following a long line of reporters including but not limited to, Steve Carrell, Carrell's wife[and a fine person in her own right], and Matt Walsh[ER doc in Hangover].
The Daily Show has redeeming qualities, albeit too few.
I just took a walk over to Zuccotti park to see what's happening and take some pictures. It seems that the "movement" is out of gas. There's just a clump of quiet OWSers over toward Broadway. Show's over kids, back to the basements!
I did't take any pictures - there's nothing worth snapping. I guess I will have to go back to the ones I took last month. Thanks for the memories.
I did a couple of quick searches on "private property versus personal property" and found some blogs where Marxists are talking each other around in circles. Truly amazing stuff. In the same way that watching multiple deaths as the result of indy car crashes into grandstands are amazing.
Does anyone know of any sites providing reliable numbers for any of these Occupy events? I've heard they weren't particularly well attended, but it would be interesting to see some hard numbers.
The liberal mind is truly acrobatic where the Daily Show can mock the very ideas they embrace without recognizing them.
It's like how most dogs ignore their own reflection in a mirror, but of course they could never do that, but apparently Liberal ideas are like vampires in more ways than one.
Thanks, but I was referring to the number of protestors/attendees. My understanding is that these protests are actually really small, to the point that if they were a Tea Party rally, it would be considered a failure because "nobody turned out", but I haven't seen any kind of official, or even unofficial numbers.
You just can't change human nature and human society. No matter how hard the Communists, Marxist, Socialists or any other "ists" try, humans are tribal in nature.
There will always...ALWAYS be divisions in the tribe with some people rising to the level of leaders or the inner circle. You will always have the worker bees and the hangers on. There will always be those who will find a way to scam the others who are gullible. There will eventually be a military or enforcement arm, some who mind the money or supplies, others who keep and make the rules and those who are the religious or ideological arm.
It has been ever thus from the time of Australopithecus, to Jamestown to Zuccotti Park.
Nothing will ever change because it is in our nature to be tribal. Period.
As a former Anthro major in college, I find the whole Zuccotti Park evolution just fascinating. Someone should write a dissertation.
The "occupiers" (a poorly chosen reference) dream of physical and material instant gratification through redistributive and retributive change.
It's just one set of individuals suffering from delusions of grandeur hoping to exploit their supporters in order to fulfill their dreams of consolidating capital and power.
It is a tale told by an idiot, throughout history, and throughout the world.
They tried slavery. They tried social justice. Their principles predispose them to extremes. They continue to deceive the dreamers. Maybe the next generation will determine a reasonable compromise.
One word, spoken in only one post here, but outlined by most of them, is "Fraud." All of it, in almost every walk of life - my favorites were Tank's and The Drill SGT's on marriage and divorce:
The dude gets it no matter what.
Hey, Ann, how's that feminism bullshit looking to you again?

The was no class, politics or otherwise, in Zuccotti Park.
First as tragedy and then as farce. Marx got at least one thing right.
Very funny. Best line: "I don't keep track of time... when I'm down here."
And hat tip to John Stewart! Yes! When its finally safe for the MSM to distance itself from #Occupy, Stewart steps up to speak truth to "power".
What a fraud.
I've been hoping you would post this. Hilarious indeed.
Interesting audience reaction.
Awkward, tense silence, I think you'd call that. "Um, are we supposed to clap like trained seals to this?"

The Duetsche Bank bit was utterly priceless.

My favorite line: Hippy, when asked if he would share his iPad Two with the less fortunate of the 99%:
"No, this is personal property. I'm not so much against personal property, as I am against private property."

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal." Animal Farm, George Orwell (1945)
Mores serious than CNN. Hilarious.
As occasional Navy-vet commentator "Butch" succinctly put it over at Neptunus Lex when commentating on same vid:
"Let me explain it for you.
Private property = your stuff he wants you to give him
Personal property = his stuff you better keep your meat-hooks off.
Capische?"
It's a microcosm of the whole Democratic coalition.

Head hits table, asleep.
It's an irony free zone.
When do the elites start collecting taxes?
Will they use Deutsche Bank to hold the tax revenues?
oh, yeah!...Where's Ketchup?
The Private vs Personal Property guy reminded me of an old George Carlin bit...
It all boiled down to the fact that your sh!t is stuff, and everyone elses stuff is sh!t. This guy has clearly taken George Carlin to the next level.

Yes, I have an Ipad.
No, I do not want to share it with YOU.

"IT's an irony-free zone."
Or as another commenter, "dc" said over at "Neptunus Lex" on this subj:
"Cue Bill Shatner from Airport II: 'Irony can be pretty ironic..' "
Salamandyr
Here is an alphabetical list (by offense) of some of the activities resulting from whatever numbers you're after.
It doesn't matter, really, OWS are the 1% here and its only a matter of time that they disperse. Winter will be here shortly.
Won't be long before we see lot of wiggling of middle fingers.

Hi Don't Tread 2012,
Thanks, but I was referring to the number of protestors/attendees. Another good video - not as good as this one but funny, too!

DBQ: You just gave all the talking points; the dissertation would just be the yadda yadda yadda part.

This is what happens when Society no longer holds Envy in contempt.
Say what you want about the religious right, but they are onto something there.
