Obama and the Green Bay Packers.

The full 9 1/2 minute video.

A reader emailed, recommending the video and adding:
I think you will see a President eroding, much like Nixon did in 74. The visit to celebrate the Packers had a lot of sympathy humor from Obama. Sympathy in that he was telling them it was hard to stand there as a Bear fan, really tough, but unlike a comedian, he lingers too long on the subject, becoming more bitter, like Lenny Bruce at the end of his career. Obama kept the focus on him and how hard it was on him, and then compared it to negotiating with Republicans (implied but still a 16" softball coming at one's head).

Truly sad. Say what one will about George W. Bush, but he exuded proper decorum at the proper times. I can't imagine if he had acted like this with a Super Bowl winner what the media would have done to him?
I didn't think it was that bad.

By the way, how many of the Packers were chewing gum?

Well, this may be the thread for this article then: The Great Deflation 'like a leaking baloon..'

And then there is this:He is no Truman nor is he Clinton.

{I want to sound bitter by saying, of course you didn't think it was that bad because you voted for him. Got to run.}

I was impressed that O was only 20 minutes late. That's early for him.

When you get to the point where a leader starts saying, "The people aren't worthy of me", it's time for another Hitler video.

Neither was Willie. It was Dick Morris that saved him.

I thought the SuperBowl was played last January, but Obama finds time in August to congratulate them?

He's grasping! He finally understands that he won't be re-elected.

Worst. President. Evah!!

I think what people are missing is that Obama plays chess while GOP plays horoscopes. No, no, no. Obama is already planning the end game. I was at the Oval Room (across the WH) last evening and all the K-street consultants were cheering about the GOP debate. They (GOP) have no idea of what is in store for then. One consultant even brought his S.O. who was in media. The GOP is finished. If they think that they have a slight chance to win one state, one district, they are deluding themselves. The GOP defeat will be even bigger than Mondale. If GOP does not have vision/diversity/deliverables/leadership, then they will not lose in 2016 as well....remember the next POTUS - Mark Warner (Virginia). The GOP is totally clueless. They are like a QB (Bret Favre) who could not see when he was being blitzed...

I think the real underlying issue is that he wants his own late night show. A couple comments are funny but he tried to carry a “funny” tone for too long and, at least to me, he started sounding like a whiner. It would be interesting to survey the team to see if they thought he was serious about grounding aircraft though.

I take a back seat to no one in my displeasure with Obama's administration and policies, but I thought his remarks here to the Packers, were just fine. I thought he was a very good sport, and enjoyed the tone he took of a disappointed Bears fan. Good job, Barry.

Now that he 'owns' the Packers, the first thing he wants to do is give away the superstar quarterback. It's as if his instinct is to destroy anything he has control over.

May be Obama will hire another Dick Morris and fuck you Republicans royally for a second term like Clinton did.

Nixon eroded because the FBI did target practice on his back. Mark Felt was a homosexual, who met the young Bob Woodward, by accident. At the White House.

Mark Felt was there on business for J. Edgar Hoover. Mark Felt was second in command. (Hoover would soon drop dead.)

Bob Woodward was still an officer in the Navy. Dressed in his DRESS WHITES. An attractive plumb. And, while people notice Bob Woodward isn't much of a talkative man ... Waiting for Nixon to sign papers. Both men struck up a conversation. Bob Woodward said to Mark Felt that he was coming, soon, to live in DC. And, by chance, when he got hired by the Washington Post, he had Mark Felt's phone numbers ... collected to be one of his sources.
'
DEEP THROAT indeed! They didn't have to work too hard to come up with that moniker, did they?

And, the way Bob Woodward would meet Felt. 2:00 AM. In business district parking garages. Where they met like two spies. Woodward was tasked with using at least two cabs. But he still had to walk about a mile. And, then, he had to submerge ... as if he was a little lost on where he parked his car. To the level that didn't have any. DEEP THROAT contact. Fer shur.

Obama, on the other hand, isn't a maven of foreign policy. All contact where he's actually making a decision makes him dither.

Nobody knows what he's going to do in any situation; because he orders things about in multiple directions.

Alas. Obama so far is winning.

The stupid party are still stupid. Led by a PR machine that doesn't even think it has to deliver cuts. In a financial crisis. So, they fake cuts. And, put a team of 12 congress-critters ... NONE OF THEM WIH EXPERIENCE CUTTING BUDGETS! But it's made it easier, now, for the lobbyists to bribe fewer politicians to get "results."

Doesn't mean next Spring ... that Obama doesn't make a big deal of canceling student loans. Just like the way at some point Jimmy Carter "forgave" the draft avoiding yoots from the 1960's ... to 1972 ... For running to Canada.

How quickly people forget.

Of course, add to the tzuris of the republicans, and you've got the religious zealots. They're gonna see to it that politics is a religious experience. Or they're gonna drive right off the reservation.

If we had better comedians, some of this would be funny.

Remember Don Knots?

Obama isn't a winner, and he apparently has zero ability to praise a winner.

He's spent his entire life studying how to tare down winners.

He has zero experience or practice admiring and praising winners.

I wonder what Jay Cutler thinks of Obama's suggested trade.

It's like every speech for every occasion has to be run through the campaign machine. It's always about The One!

It sounds more like whining than campaigning, though.

I can understand waiting to pounce like a spider when Obama screws up.

Pouncing on everything makes people look bad though and strengthens Obama.

An earlier meeting was not possible because of the lockout, or strike, or work action, or whatever it was.

I got a chuckle out of -- was it Woodson? -- nixing Obama's trade suggestions by saying he's just a minority owner.

I really think the title should be Obama and the WORLD CHAMPION Green Bay Packers.

Have I mentioned lately that the Green Bay Packers are WORLD CHAMPIONS? Long may they reign!!

FedkaTheConvict said...

Obama is a Bears fan like he's a White Sox fan. Which is, he's simply a poser.

He claimed to be a Sox fan yet he could not name one Sox player and twice referred to Comiskey Field as ComiNskey Park.

Reminds me of John Kerry talking about Lambert Field.

MadisonMan said...

I really think that Althouse needs a Green Bay Packers tag.

Dr Weevil said...

Better "a leaking balloon" than an untied one. A gradually deflating president is bad enough, but one who flies around the room, bounces off the walls and ceiling, and finally collapses on the floor with a limp farting noise is not what this country needs right now.

Exactly.

Also, you have to wonder how that little quip made his own QB feel. (Is Cutler a Republican, by any chance?)

And by the way (for the person who commented on this), I really can't stand Obama - but isn't the reason he's just getting to this now is that they couldn't do it during the lockout? Not his fault. For once.

Who in the hell came up with the idea to give this guy stock in the ownership of the Green Bay Packers???

The finger prints of Trooper York are all over this one.

But this cute little attempt at subversion won't work. You have to be born in Wisconsin to own a share of the Packers. Obama's share is a nullity.

I've heard "They're owned by the town" before, but this is a new one.

I wonder where they dug up a share for Obama. I think they need to open it up to everyone again - I'd buy more, for sure.

Issob Morocco said...

I dunno, considering most of his stories and attempts at humor, all of which came back to Obama his pain, his power, his house, seems self absorbed. He didn't spend too much time giving them the recognition they deserve.

And when he gave that calling out Rodgers as perhaps the greatest QB ever, asking for him to be sent to the bears, seems so out of touch with what the purpose of the event was.

Classy he was not.

Lombardi Chick - maybe he gets how much Cutler sucks.

Madison Man - it was a lock out.

It has NOTHING to do with the lock-out.

The lock-out started in April. The game was in January. My calendar shows 2 intervening months.

I'll guess we'll also see an uptick in the number of Medal Of Honor winners as well. Anything that allows the cameras to focus on Barry.

I just hope the Medal winners can still salute the flag.

madAsHell, the "New York" Giants, when they totally lucked out and won the Super Bowl, visited the White House in May. The Saints visited in August. So did the Steelers.

What is your point?

MadisonMan said...

Oops, sorry -- the Steelers were in May.

A May visit this year was not possible.

mtrobertsattorney said...

By the way, the Packers lost tonight. I attribute this to trauma from that visit with Obama and his IRS threat.

Once Obama is forced to give up that share he was given, things will be back to normal.

It is intriguing that Barry Soetero has done so many sadistic things to people everywhere in the name of ending people's use of American resources to make the Green-marxists applaud for him...and now he wants people to feel sorry for him.

The bad old system of two parties under a check and balance Constitution is hurting Barry's best laid plans to enslave and destroy more people faster.

He wants us to die for him, or he will have his feelings hurt.

Sweetbriar said...

It's not HIS house! Obama thinks the WH is his personal asset... and the congress are his employees, too, probably. I couldn't watch past that statement.

I don't care where he was born. By the facts that he has already provided, Obama was born British of a British subject father, and cannot possibly be a natural born Citizen, eligible for POTUS.
