"If we were really domestic terrorists, shoot, President Obama would be wanting to pal around with us wouldn’t he?"

"I mean he didn’t have a problem with paling around with Bill Ayers back in the day when he kicked off his political career in Bill Ayers apartment, and shaking hands with Chavez and saying he doesn’t need any preconditions with meeting dictators or wanting to read US Miranda rights to alleged suspected foreign terrorists. No if we were real domestic terrorists I think President Obama wouldn’t have a problem with us."

Sarah Palin, via Instapundit, who adds:
Heh. And the ATF would be helping you smuggle guns. . . .

Rather, they're a tiny minorty cohort of spoiled, screaming infants who could easily be ignored, but who serve as a handy excuse for Obama--(and the Democrats)--(and the Republicans)-- allowing them all to do what they wanted to do and planned to do all along.

The kabuki theater of the past weeks over the raising (or not) of the debt ceiling--(it was a foregone conclusion from the start it would be raised, as it will be raised in the future, whoever is in the White House...it was never NOT going to be raised)--was staged to scare the public into accepting whatever devastating cuts to Social Security and Medicare might be effected in order to "save us" from "even worse" chimera of doom that might supposedly follow otherwise, while providing plausible deniability to all parties for any comlaints they will receive from their respective constituents.

It was a big con, and we are the marks who've been had.

In direct response to Biden talking propaganda. That's what makes it potent, not that Palin said this out of the blue, but that instead of getting bent out of shape, she pushes back and jabs Obama at a weak point.

Rather than whining about Biden, she makes the statement that careless words can be rebounded.

Of course neither Right or Left would pal around with terrorists now. But if you call us terrorists in your rhetoric we'll remind you how real terrorists have been part of your rise to power.

It stops that sort of rhetoric cold. Because now Obama won't wink and smile at Biden's verbal wanderings, he'll reign him in.

Since I live in a far left community, I'll tell you with certainty what the left would be saying today had the president, through his surrogates, attempted to brand his political opponents as "terrorists."

We would be discussing whether this propaganda assault was likely to lead to police and military violence and suppression of the supposedly "terrorist" group.

This propaganda offensive emanates from the White House. It was initiated by the Vice President. Clearly, it has President Obama's approval.

Does this propaganda offensive, clearly directed from the White House, signal an attempt to forcibly suppress the Tea Party?

You can bet the left would be arguing precisely that if a Republican president labeled a Democrat Party aligned political faction as "terrorist."

Robert Cook said...

God knows the GOP establishment are too cowardly to call you out for the scum you are.

What did obama offer exactly? Even when you created the image. He spoke a foreign language. His mom didn't belong to The Red Cross ... (Or, only if you want Red to mean russia. Where you make your first misstep.)

Because the Vatican, at keeping state secrets, is a thousand years older.

He was a TYPE. He had to mold, himself, first, to fit.

Every single political movement. Be it in monarchies. Or churches. Or elite groups. Evenutally runs out of steam.

Even in the good book. It says, at first there was chaos. Well, after the world started rolling, we know now ... it's Entropy all the way down.

I read that entire statement. You're still wrong. The administration came out of this smelling to high hell. His approval didn't bounce at all and currently hovers around 40...Carter territory. He didn't get the clean increase he wanted and the TP forced the GOP to "call his bluff". They did and he was shown to have junk in his hand.

If you think the GOP is claiming "bona fides" you're not paying close enough attention. This isn't a case of the sheeple going back to the pen after the ruckus and they're not unhappy because of a just compromise. Every TP member I know is still up in arms and EXTREMELY cynical of what's going to happen in November. Most of them are calling bullshit on the nearly the whole deal.

You're either not paying close enough attention or you're letting ideological blinders focus your attention incorrectly.

Bruce Hayden said...

I think that this was well done by Gov. Palin. I worried a bit yesterday whether the "terrorist" meme might have some legs, since that is the one thing that the Tea Party is not, and many of its members would be horrified to be considered.

Remember this is the group that typically leaves its protest venues cleaner than before they arrived (which is why RC's posts are so humorous). We are talking middle America here, the bedrock. And, if enough people called Tea Party participants, then maybe some of them might be horrified enough of the idea to stay home next time.

So, again, Palin comes to the rescue, killing the Administration's latest focus group tested proto-meme in its tracks, with one short comeback.

Don't know if she would make a good President (ok, it would be hard to do worse that what we have now), but I am sure glad that she is on (most of - with J and RC here today) our side here.

Face facts: the public is not the real constituency for either party...the financial elites are. Both parties serve Wall Street and bray about "serving the people" in the eternal Washington practice of lying and pandering.

I don't think that you are following this very closely. This new crop of Republicans in the House is different. They don't fall lock-step behind the leadership, but rather, the leadership, time and time again, is having to follow the Tea Party. You saw this this time, as the deals that the Republican leadership thought that they had put together fell apart, when their caucus fell apart.

I saw this whole thing, good and bad, old, and new, this spring and early summer, trying to fight against patent reform. We were out-gunned, and massively out-spent, by the big tech companies (IBM, MSFT, Intel, etc.) The legislation blew through the Senate this year, with Leahy seen celebrating with IBM at their plant in Burlington a couple of days later. Crony capitalism at its worst. Then it blew through the subcommittee and committee in the House, with Lamar Smith ramming it through, stacking hearings, limiting debate all the way along. It hit the Rules committee, and was ready for the floor, and, whoops.

Someone finally noticed that the bill would take control of the USPTO budget away from Congress and give it to the former IBMer running the USPTO (who, conveniently, had been one of the primary pushers of the legislation before taking the USPTO slot). Beck, then Rush, mentioned it, and the bill wasn't going anywhere that way. The bill sat right there at the Rules committee for a week, and then Smith and his corporate backers caved, amending the bill to satisfy the Tea Party. And that is where it sits now, technically in reconciliation, almost identical bills passed in both Houses, but hung up on something that the Tea Party isn't budging on, and the old bulls in the Senate, having been well paid off by those big companies, not willing to give in. My prediction is that the Senate will ultimately cave, because their paymasters want to weaken the patent system so badly that they will take 98% and give up on control of funding, as they did in the House.

This is the same sort of thing that we saw with the debt ceiling. The House leadership thinks that they have more leeway than they do. They see how Pelosi walked her Blue Dogs off the electoral cliff by forcing them to vote for ObamaCare, etc., and remember the last time that the Republicans had the House, and expected that sort of control. They have it, until it comes to spending and esp. taxes.

BTW - The Representative who helped us the most in our fight against patent reform was Rep. Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin. Met with him in April, and he seemed to be the only long term Congressman involved who hadn't sold out to the big companies. If you are in his district, give him your vote next time.

Putting the cart before the horse, certainly, but abstract thought can be like that sometimes.

Assume we get everything we want visa vi the Tea Party. Even assume that history/poli-sci types call this a limited government or Constitutionalists revolution. The real struggle, even after all the biggest battles are fought and won, will, as with all revolutions, be a battle not to become that which was originally fought against.

Much easier to blow up trains, in other words, than to make them run on time. It's just something everyone should keep in their back pocket as a sort of anti-hubris spray.

When you win – not so much.

By the way, I don't see "orgasmic support" for Obama from any quarter in this country.

But actually, Obama is ruling like leftists THINK Republicans do. Not just his war stance, but he promotes crony capitalism, He caters to his high stakes contributors on Wall Street. He grants favors and wavers to his supporters and punishes his enemies. He is in bed with big corporations like GE and enforces policies that boost their bottom lines like Curley Fry light bulbs and wind farms. Also, GE makes gas turbine power plants which compete with coal-fired plants which Obama’s EPA is shutting down. These are the kinds of things leftists have been accusing Republicans of doing for years, for example with the oil companies.

Why should she, when she is raking in millions as a "Voice" to her people, just like Jesse Jackson, Ann Coulter do pandering to "their peeps".
What makes a pundit, even one you agree with, automatically worthy of an office because they can dispense a few bon mots that their yahoo base laps up?
There is a segment of the population, that probably should be barred from the right to vote, that sees their favorite pundit and red meat thrower as "the Next President" - because they are too stupid to see past the boob tube cracks and controversies the pundit feeds on as just something that advances the Pundit, not The Nation.

Hence:

1. Sean Hannity for President!
2. Rachel Maddow for President!
3. Jesse is The Man!
4. Rev Al!!
5. Our Sarah for President!
6. Put Bill O'Reilly in the Oval Office!!
7. Katie Couric for President!

Along with the Dolt's fave Celebrities and Victims.

1. Make a 9/11 survivor President!
2. Donald Trump says the right things and we need his show taken into Government "YOu're fired!"
3. Gabby Giffords for President. She deserves it. She suffered as much if not more than John McCain did!

Bill Ayers founded a deadly terrorist organization. A sane person does not want that kind of person getting any kind of government contract, much less one for developing K-12 curricula. That's worse than O. J. Simpson teaching criminal law, even if O. J. did have all the appropriate sheepskin.

Either Obama couldn't recognize that Bill Ayers is evil, or he was apathetic about it. Or he joined Annenberg without bothering to find out who works for the joint. Each of those alternatives disqualifies Obama to be elected to any office.
