I'm on trend, people.

Haven't you seen what's going on with A.Co,  Z.Co, and K.Co?

AND: Check out Arthou.se — a sleek, arty blog. Although that was once in Sweden. But I know all about Arthouse....

I just snapped up Cis.co!

althou.se is the coolest of the choices thrown around in the other thread.

However, it's not entirely original: http://arthou.se/

On trend?

More like streets ahead,in the parlance of our times.

I know it's trendy and I want to sing "I'm in with the In Crowd," but it could be too cute. I think it would marginalize your brand. Whatever that is.

If you hadn't remarried would you have picked vort.ex?

Fred4Pres said...

Just don't run afoul of Swedish hate speech laws. Because that would suck.

Almost as much as a Swedish washing machine. I hated that piece of crap. I hated my wife got us to pay $3000 for the matching washer dryer.

Well Professor, .se just doesn't hit me the right way but it's your legacy and I'm sure that you are doing what is best. Congats! And good luck with it.

"Daily Planet reporter selects kal.el for URL" hmmm....

Ron said...

This URL blah blah blah is all an excuse for you and Meade to go to Stockholm...and try the lutefisk!

Love the sunglasses and red works very well with you hair.

What are all you doing on May 21, the last day of the planet. I am kind of excited.

swill_bandit said...

What do you mean marginalize the brand? It's not gonna make any difference because people get here from links, bookmarks, or google. It'll look cool, and it's an improvement over the current url.

Titus said...

Who are you wearing?

I tread on people

I'd say on a roll, but (hate to say it) I agree with Titus.

You do look smashing in those pics.

Oh, yeah, I lost them! They were great. Lenses and sides were all the same gold plastic. Fit really nicely on top of the head, in the headband position.

That photo was taken in Austin, TX a few years ago.

Fred4Pres said...

Is that Kristen Dunst in that photograph?

BTW, I own althouseblog.com so I have a safe, conservative fallback in case I get cold feet about living on the edge.

According to The Blonde, "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room".

Then again, she's fallen off a few times.

Outhou.se

Whorehou.se

Dotessee.se

I suspect this thread can go on for a while.

I se.

From the Flickr page: "This photo was taken on April 1, 2067"

So trendy she sends dispatches from THE FUTURE!

There's also playing on some other aspects of the Althouse blog persona:

LaAlthouse
BlogressDiva
LetsTakeACloserLookAtThoseBreasts.com
TheSquickening

Or you could do something random, like xkcd. Though I don't think there are any four letter ones available any more.

Fred4Pres said...

I know that is not Kristen Dunst. Ann Althouse is more attractive than Kristen Dunst.

All they both tend to have the same deplorable voting pattern.

Yeah, you know what that's from. I can't find the post, but I deliberately set the date ahead in time to prove a point about the time-stamp in a camera. There's a photo of me showing the future time stamp, looking surprised, and saying I came from the future.

I forgot to set the time back to the present.

Kristen Dunst has a look that reminds me of my mother. Hard to explain why. Actually, the actress my mother was told she resembled was Deanna Durbin.

(As for my father... I'm said it before, but my father looked so much like Frank Sinatra, he was asked for his autograph. The resemblance changed as the 2 men got older. My father aged better!)

Another reason to dump blogger, no tags for strike outs. So I bracketted it instead.

blake said...

Fred,

Yeah, the strikeout hate is weird.

Even composing a post as a blogger you have to go into the HTML to put in a strike tag.

Palladian said...

The < strike > tag is OFFICIALLY DEPRECATED effective with HTML 4.0.

Carol_Herman said...

"Althousian."

Gosh, it must be spring. You're not wearing anything woolen.

There really is an "art house" in your neighborhood?

Clever photograph, too.

Carol_Herman said...

Ah, Austin. Isn't it great to have a camera with you, always?

What about alwaysAlthouse?

blake said...

Palladian--

So...we have to put CSS in our posts now if we want strikeouts our underlines?

Seems cumbersome, to say the least.

Since you are so active and known for Madison activities, how about Mad.House?

Jim said...

Why not althouse.wordpress.com. You'd get the best blogging platform available and avoid the here today, gone tomorrow of trendy country domain names as a component of your own domain name. That's if you want to go the cheap route.

On the other hand, I agree with whoever else said that $900 is not too much for a major blog site to pay to obtain a domain name of choice. That said, you can negotiate with those domain owners, but you probably need someone of that game/world to do it for you (and you probably should have done it before you posted these posts). If i were you, i'd pay the $900 tomorrow and be done with it.

Either way, you'll be better off without Blogger and Google.

Love the video at arthou.se. She loves signs like althouse likes handwritten signs. Could it be a sign?

JackOfClubs said...

The ".se" top-level seems too cute and just as easy to mislead as ".net". People that aren't savvy enough to note the ".net" suffix probably won't catch that the ".se" is the top-level and are likely to remember it as "althouse.com".

Have you thought about "althouse.name"?
