"President Obama, who often plays golf on weekends doesn't love the links..."

"... it's just one of the only ways for him to get outside and still remain in his security bubble."

Golf is just the one way the poor man can experience the semblance of normal.

People will buy this, just as they bought the risible notion he was actually qualified for office.

As others have pointed out, he has the entirety of Camp David a finger-snap away. But he might have to do some work up there. No desks on the links.

Frankly, driving to the market with his girls to squeeze melons sounds like a creepy euphemism for something...

If he misses having a "life" why is running for a second term?

Only the completely clueless will fall for this line. Then again - they probably voted for him in 2008.

WTF- what guy would even say that out loud let alone admit it in an interview?

Dude seriously needs a ranch. Then he can get a pick-up truck, a chain saw, a mountain bike, etc.

He does have a "ranch", courtesy of the Federal taxpayer, called Camp David - a secure area where he can do outdoors stuff to his heart's content. Maybe a 20 minute helicopter ride from DC.

Whiner.

And people like you and Ann put him power.

Don't squeeze the fruit! You'll bruise the flesh and no one else will buy it. What a waste. There are starving children in Third-World-country-of-your-choice don't you know? (I used to work in a grocery store.)

If you're looking for some ripe peaches, pineapples, cantaloupe or whatever, take a sniff. If it doesn't smell like anything, it's not ripe yet. If it smells like fruit, buy it.

I won't buy unripe peaches, plums, apricots and other stone fruits. They either never get sweet enough or turn to mush before they do.

Pears and bananas ripen well, so you can buy them hard and they will ripen well at home.

Buy hard avocados with green skin and eat them when they turn black (on the outside, of course...) Mangoes are picked stone-hard, so you might as well buy them that way, unless you live in the tropics, and let them ripen at home. Champagne mangoes, the orange ones, always turn out good for me.

I can't believe he's making excuses.

It's presidential to make excuses.

And everyone understands how nasty it would be to have constant security around you and no privacy and no freedom of movement. Only sympathy generally lasts just to long as someone doesn't seem to be feeling sorry for themselves. After all, if they've got that covered why should anyone else bother?

It's what he signed up for, and he ought to suck it up.

And he shouldn't make excuses for what he decides to do with his time. The people criticizing him for playing golf certainly aren't going to be persuaded.

President Obama, who often plays golf, doesn't love the links.

President Obama, who has sent American planes into Libya, doesn't love interfering with the internal affairs of other countries.

President Obama, who often stated his opposition to the individual mandate, doesn't love having the Justice Department defend one in the courts.

President Obama, who often speaks in support of Al Sharpton, doesn't love fostering racial conflict.

President Obama, who often pledged not to raise taxes, doesn't love raising the federal debt a trillion dollars a year faster than Bush.

President Obama, who often exhibits the kind of behavior you'd expect from a lazy slow-witted spoiled arrogant America-hating dick, doesn't love that so many people are figuring out that he's a lazy slow-witted spoiled arrogant America-hating dick.

But whether he loves it or not, it's happening.

As above. Camp David. He can walk all he wants. 120 acres. One hole golf course (with sand trap, I think), driving range ...

Well, actually, let's go to the the Obama White House's Camp David for a Weekend Promo to see what *we* can do since he isn't there:

The Presidential Retreat offers tennis, bowling, horseshoes, basketball, fly fishing, swimming, archery, skeet shooting, and hiking. There is also a one-hole golf course just outside the President's cabin and a driving range on the other side of the camp. Bikes and golf carts are readily available and are a convenient way to get around.

For evening entertainment, you can shoot some pool at the rec room, hang out at the video arcade, go bowling, read in the library, or catch a movie in the small theater located in the Hickory Lodge. You can also enjoy a late-night snack and drinks at the Mountain Top Cafe.

I suppose we should be glad he's not letting Andy Stern jump on the bed in the Lincoln bedroom.

The lack of sympathy and understanding here for that courageous man is outrageous. Have you people no decency! He was covering for Michelle. He is a stand up guy. No way he is going to dis his "baby momma" in public. During the week days he can avoid her with the excuse that he is working. She too is cooped up in the White House, and he can only avoid her so long. Does anyone think Michelle is happy being a prisoner-of-the-press in the White House? Going golfing is a great way to get some space between himself and her, and her mom. I'll bet smoking isn't a problem on the golf course for Mr. President. Don't tell me all the previous posters are happily married, that is statistically unlikely. Feel his pain. Besides, the four hours he is golfing he isn't attacking peaceful Muslim countries who are in the midst of a misunderstanding with undesirables who have an over grown sense of entitlement, like in Libya. Give him the same benefit of the doubt that I am sure he would give any one of us. Good grief.

DHOTUS is extremely rude.

Unfortunately, there is no disputing the fact that one of the reasons that *many* people voted for him was that they really wanted, really badly wanted, to have a black president.

A person can pretend that's not true, but a person can pretend a whole lot of things inside their own heads.

If being a black candidate is so great why haven't we had an endless string of black presidents?

And, why did BHO very carefully avoid being seen as a black candidate?

And, why is it that many of BHO's adversaries like to constantly repeat that BHO is black/halfrican/magic negro/diversity hire? Are they trying to help him? A person really can pretend a whole lot of things inside their own heads.

To avoid the negative stereotypes. To allow anyone who attacked his real weaknesses to be portrayed as "racist". To have his waffle and eat it too.

Not a hard question.

Nope. I'm happy with it. Kerry's swiftboating worked because he became the man so many people know in their platoons and office cubicles: the incompetent buffoon that is promoted out of everyone's hair. "Let him be someone else's problem". Millions of Americans know and work with "that guy".

Likewise, Obama is the archetypal Diversity Hire. Unqualified. Chosen because of his skin color. Can't handle the work load. Grows frustrated and bitter and angry. Blames his failure on racism or "the system". Millions of Americans know and work with "that guy".

Yup. The good news is that, when it comes to the Presidency, we've gotten the affirmative action / diversity hire PCBS out of the way. So the next black president will be chosen because of his ability instead of his skin color.

Bad time to go through this though. In 2012, the "new civility" Democrats will declare "blaming all of these problems on the last president is no longer a valid argument".

I tried to place a bet on it, but they won't even give me odds on it.

I am delighted that he plays golf and wish he played more, lots more. He is an annoyance as well as an incompetent and the more he is away from his desk the better for us all.
