Apparently, now I'm a Latin teacher!

YOU really need to start demanding royalty's for this.

I know a young college student who looks just like you (except the glasses) in this stock photo. Every time you link to it, my first impression is that I'm seeing her.

They wouldn't go to me, they'd go to the photographer.

Ha Ha.

Have you ever tried tineye.com for all the instances it can find?

Althouse Ipsa Loquitur, and very well if I may say so. You are age LX, which sounds like a luxury sport model compared to a stodgy sounding XXXV.

The Althouse brand will live in perpetuity on so many levels.

We should all seize the day rather than just carp about it.

You could do worse.

Pick up this Latin Dictionary, to run through the senses of roots of English words.

It's a great aid to analysis.

(was only $150 in 1984)

While you're dropping big bucks for books, this grammar book is an excellent summer read, if you're open to wonderment about how many rules you follow without knowing about them.

That one's cheaper than it used to be.

Straight out of the Classifieds insert in the free weekly paper, not that there's anything wrong with that...

Tineye is brilliant. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

The image in question returned 28 results [tin eye results expire in 72 hours so link will die].

I am not sure what you mean by "senses". But Latin is great for verb tenses and discovering the roots for many of our words - sometimes directly from the Latin, and sometimes via the language that is spoken by those cheese loving surrender monkeys.

To this day, I do not know if I would have been better off and happier having taken maybe Spanish, than 4 years of high school Latin, followed by a couple years in college. Even in the practice of law, you really don't need to know much Latin these days.

Funny, you don't look a bit like Dr. Newhall.

If you search for "Althouse" in their search box you get - GIS SPECIALIST/PROJECT MANAGER - Althouse and Meade, Inc. - Paso Robles, CA
Latin/Law/GIS Mapping too?

But don't you feel a bit like a Latin teacher every time you explain res ipsa loquitur, stare decisis, de minimis, and other such phrases to your classes?

I have a friend who got her PhD at UTS in Richmond. Her dissertation was on Lamentation in Hebrew, knew Greek for New Testament and had to pass tests in French and German for her degree. Latin is easy

That picture needs its own tag. Please don't tell me not to overinterpret the tags. That's my business whether I do or not.
