Smile when you wield that swastika.

"Do you think Scott Walker deserves to be compared to the Nazis?" I ask and the answer is "Yes, I do":

(Yesterday, at the Wisconsin protest.)

The video ends abruptly because my memory card got filled up. The comparison of Walker to the Nazis was strongly defended.

The protesters are all white.

So, they're racist white supremacists.

She must be a graduate of WI Public schools.

She lacks a fundamental understanding of history and the logic skills needed to explain her over the top hatred for a democratically elected State Legislature

I can envision her spreading the same message to her students over a 20 year period. We're so screwed as a nation

Thank you, Professor, for your coverage of this event.

But wait!! That guy on the right has a sign that he makes American happen.

And are there really no black people in Wisconsin? Are we in the south being constantly accused of racism by people that do not know any blacks ? Are they not permitted in Wisconsin? What is up with that?

lemondog said...

Any chance a documentary is being considered?

I try to explain this kind of thing to my conservative friends, but generally they don't believe me: the over-the-top rhetoric of a significant minority of liberals is not just over-the-top rhetoric. They genuinely see us that way.

Thanks, professor, for the video. I'll be spreading it as much as I can.

There were at least two black people in Madison the day Jesse was there. There was Jesse and a guy on the stage who I guess was with him.

Are there none? I have seen more black in Halifax than in these pictures.

The scary part is that these dolts have control over 35 impressionable children5 days a week.

It's a small step from believing that the opposition are really Nazi's to being morally required to form a resistance movement and start killing those Nazi's to prevent another Holocaust

There's nothing that could ever compel me to carry a sign with a swastika on it.

Even if I ever protested actual Nazis, I would not use a swastika.

"It's a fact." The Battle of the Bulge, many didn't make it, and "the facts."

I don't follow her thinking. Is it that we didn't believe Hitler was evil until it was too late? That's like saying, Hitler had a mustache so all people with mustaches are in danger of becoming Nazis?

And these are the "smart" liberals....

The future of American Democracy is on the line right now in WI. When confronted with why he totally ignored the Republicans during the ObamaCare debate, MacDaddy replied: "We Won" . Well guess what leftists? In Nov 2, 2010 elections, "We Won". If these leeches manage to defeat this attempt to reign in the out-of-control budget busting greed of the public sector unions, then democracy in America is dead. Just a joke, just a sham. Finished.

BTW, public sector unions should not even exist, let alone be able to riot against all attempts to limit their filthy greed. Down with the union parasites! I am not going work till I'm 70 to finance your retirement at 50!

Honestly, when obama was elected I thought he would likely expose libs for the idiots they are and damn if he hasn't done it! And better yet...more to come!
Unfair to paint all libs with a very broad brush? I think not...not any more.

That someone could compare Scott Walker with Hitler is evidence, at the least, of the failure of our public schools and of higher education in America.
Aside from the truly misbegotten idea that the two can be equated, I RESENT the implication that Walker's standing up to Public Unions is somehow equivalent to Hitler's Murdereing some 10 Million people, Jews, Catholics, homosexuals and gyspsies.

And btw, Ann, let me add my voice to the choir of folks who are singing your praises for your coverage of these events in Madison.
Thank you very much.

I note the absence of the hammer and sickle after that one mention of Uncle Joe a couple of days ago.

Could it be somebody passed the word - don't let people make that comparison?

WV "obisma" Not sure, but it sounds like some pagan devotion made before boarding the busses to come to the WI state Capitol.

This means that you are a Nazi!

Opposition to any tenet of liberal dogma makes you a Nazi.

Or, on alternate days, it makes you just like a Klan member in the Jim Crow south.

Take your pick.

Great videos, Ann. I started to share them with friends, but there are so many good ones I am now just telling them to put your blog in their "favorites" column.

What a disgrace.

No matter what side of the budget battle you are on, signs like that and the fact that he actually BELIEVES it should make everyone ashamed.

Its amazing that there are people like this teaching our children.

Because they need to. Imagine how depressing the alternative (the truth) is to consider.

What I'm struck by in all of this is how many plants Breitbart can get to display nazi imagery and/or spout off how conservatives are all nazis.
Damn you Breitbart!

I think the next time Chicago pushes to host the Olympics I'll stand outside of city hall with a big sign saying "You know who else hosted the Olympics" with a picture of a swastika. Or, the next time someone tries to build a new sports stadium "You know who else build big new stadiums" and another swastika.

In fact, when my wife suggests going to France for our wedding anniversary, I'll just hold up a sign "You know who else went to Paris" and have a picture of Hitler on it.

Ritmo Re-Animated said...

What alternative is that, Bag o CH3COOH? The one where you arrogantly declare them inferior to you - for purely material reasons?

No one with values is inferior to someone that shallow.

Patrick said...

That comparison demeans them both.

William said...

I think that she is one click closer to being a Maoist than Walker is to being a Nazi. But such comparisons in both cases is gross hyperbole.....Politeness and polish come from the same root word. One of the early philosophers of democracy claimed that the "amicable collisions" of democracy served to polish people and make them more polite. Yeah, right.....If, by democratic measures, we cannot resolve a civil service dispute, we are truly screwed. There are some issues like abortion, reparations, and employment of the Palin children that are inherently controversial and whose propogation or denial makes veins bulge and tempers flare. Health benefits for teachers is not such an issue.

halojones-fan said...

The thing is, by these people's lights they're "just doing what the Republicans have been doing since like FOREVER, MAN."

They honestly believe that Republican rhetoric is all about "kill the bad guy, and anyone who disagrees with me is a bad guy". Not that they've seen this, of course, they're too smart to read any of that Rethuglikkkan BULLSHIT, but they know it's true because that's just how those people act, right?

EnigmatiCore said...

If a teacher thinks that, then our teachers need to do a lot more learning before they go back to teaching.

KCFleming said...

"...a civil service dispute"

This is, I think, much more than that, for it is a dispute that reveals the huge divide between the major ideologies in the US, and also exposes the massive degree of control the left has gained over our everyday lives.

So it is a fundamental disagreement about the direction of the future disguised as a civil service dispute.

Walker is fighting the good fight. These shills from the unions are a disgrace. Protein Wisdom is also rocking this issue.

Gabriel Hanna said...

Nazi Germany DID crush the power of unions--by forcing workers into government-led and -organized unions.

Workers didn't need their own union. The National Socialist German Worker's Party represented their interests--said so right on the label.

When you get too closely entagled in the government, you're not free anymore. German unions and corporations found this out the hard way.

People like this are incompetent. They can't form a coherent argument, so they use the worst names.

They accuse others of the same thing because they can't imagine an argument actually persuading anyone. After all, they never do, despite being oh-so-right.

vnjagvet said...

Civil Service dispute, indeed. It used to be that being a civil servant was considered a badge of honor. As these videos show, these people are no longer civil or servants to the people.

This fight is now about pure power politics, and the teachers own very few cards. Once this protest runs its course, as it will when the school districts begin reducing paychecks for the AWOL teachers, the demonstration will slowly wither on the vine.

In the private sector, unions set aside money to be used as strike funds to sustain the strikers until a strike ends. I suspect the Wisconsin teachers unions do not have those resources.

Who's taking away democracy? The Republicans? The voters who elected them? NO!!! It is the Democratic Senators who ran away from their democratic duty to represent their constituents. They are the ones at fault.

Bruce Hayden said...

I think that the biggest absurdity here is the assertion that the Nazis are on the right. They never have been. The National Socialist German Workers' Party, just like the Fascists and the communists, are and were leftists.

The only thing that I can figure out here is that the leftist still have more empathy for communists, over fascists, and so figure that anybody opposing the communists must be on the right. Add to this that after the communists and the fascists split (when Hitler invaded the USSR), the fascists (including the Nazis) became our enemies, and since these people believe that liberals, socialists, progressives, etc. are the good guys, then anyone that is an enemy of our country must be an enemy of their, and that includes Nazis and other fascists.

Or, maybe it is like the left calling anyone who disagrees with them "racist". "Nazi" is just another term that no one likes being hurled at them, and so the left uses it.

Ignoring, of course, the racism in the country was almost exclusively a product of the Democratic Party, and arguably is to this day, and Nazis were socialists, just like the leftists hurling that name at their enemies - indeed, the brand of socialism that seems closest to that preferred by the President and Democratic leaders of Congress appears much closer to fascism (and thus Nazism) than communism of any type) with its emphasis on crony capitalism.

We are a nation that is controlled by ignorant non-thinking. Unions were a good thing 80 years ago, but not now. Schools are not sweat shops. Many teachers are far more concerned in retaining their lack of ability under what they consider a Union protection system. Doesn't it ever occur to you liberals that we spend more on education and get less benefits than any nation in history? Ask yourself why. I travel all over the world and would you like to learn a little? Medical treatment in America is #28, education in America #23, intelligence is #24,so can you read statistics? This means that we are poorly educated, does it not? The AMA is a union for doctors. It has cost the lives of more than a billion people before their time. It has pigeon-holed a complete cure for breast cancer for going on 45 years. Wake up you ignorant imbiciles, before the few good Americans die of old age... Scott is right!
