IN THE COMMENTS: Emil exclaims: "Capitalist pig!" Well, yeah. I'm thinking, here, here's a slingshot flying pig With Oink Sound and a pig-faced silicone pot holder and a pig-shaped tabletop mini-vacuum cleaner and pig corn-on-the-cob holders and a pig-shaped cutting board and a pan for making pig-faced pancakes and kissing pigs salt & pepper shakers and a pig-headed kitchen timer.
This year, everybody's getting pig gifts! Pig Christmas!

Capitalist pig!
/s
I bought a book. Amazon is asking $38.00 for it, pfffft, and it doesn't even pop up. Abebooks had a gallery copy for $11.00 with the next one in line for $38.00. How could I resist the gallery copy?
"How could I resist the gallery copy?"
Just remember me for the next time you might buy something at Amazon. The search box is always in the side bar.
While we're being capitalist pigs, mind if I pimp my Etsy shop?
This is so icky and commercial. You really ought to hold a pledge drive and give us handsome totebags for $250.
I'm not buying a damn thing till you refer to it as the Althouse Vortex.
Don't forget The Pink Pig
Don't forget Wilbur
Seems like only yesterday that the drive-by insulters were giving you a hard time about the wine. And now they're giving you a hard time about the swine.
Pigariffic!
Here piggy, piggy, piggy!
"Pig Christmas" is the scariest thing on your blog today.
wv: dogmel. See? Dog!

Anyone have a recommendation for good oven mitts?
I know about the silicon ones that can go in the dishwasher, but I've resisted buying them because they're butt-ugly. But we need some that work and I guess I'll buy those if I have to.
Those silicon oven mitts are scarey.
I'll give a recommendation on espresso machines. A couple months ago we purchased a DeLonghi Bar32 Retro Espresso/Cappuccino machine. I highly recommend it. It produces an excellent, rich espresso with a nice foamy crema layer on top. The steamer is excellent and froths the milk quickly into a rich creamy froth unlike some others we've tried, which spew water or have other problems like delayed steaming. It's easy to keep clean and DeLonghi sells parts for it (replacement filter baskets) on their website.
Good espresso machines use a pump rather than steam. Finding one that produces good espresso for under a few hundred bucks is hard. Paste that in Althouse Amazon search box, they have it on sale for ~$85 plus a $20 rebate!
That's a fantastic price on that machine and a great gift under $100 for the espresso lover in your life.
The Bodum Pavina 2.5-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Glasses for espresso are also nice, under $15 for a set of 2.
Double walled so they don't transmit heat, they look good, are comfortable in your hand, and they come out of the dishwasher nice. I dropped one on the brick fireplace hearth and it didn't break.
Toss them in with the espresso machine and you're still under $100 even with shipping. Wish I was buying mine now.
We have a stock investment that had a high in the $130's and now sits under $1.00.We rode it up (lots of fun) and rode it down(boohoo) and never sold much 'cause we considered it long term. Anyway, we refer to it as the "lil pig" and every year I get my husband a silly pig themed gift. I keep waiting for the stupid stock to recover enough so that I can celebrate and end the tradition by buying a not too large bronze pig for the garden.
Huh. I didn't get my cheese slicer. I've received probably 60-70 Amazon shipments without trouble in the past, but the one thing I ordered through this portal was apparently returned to them as undeliverable.
Coincidence? ... Probably. I'll try again.
But this time I think I'm going to add an Anne Sofie von Otter CD.
As a kid I couldn't see why everybody in the US couldn't mail me a crummy dime, and I'd be rich.
That was back when a dime was worth somehting.
I just realized that there is something that I need to order after all.
I plan to get two books for my son, Rats, Bats and Vats, and The Rats, the Bats and the Ugly, by Dave Freer and Eric Flint.
So does Amazon sell country, salt cured, hams? If so we will put in an order, along with an order for several dozen gallons of water and some apple butter. That is the southern mountain Hillbilly coming out in me like Dr Strangelove's arm...don't tell anyone.
Just ordered a iMac air 11in through your link. I'd be interested to find out if you actually get the credit.
[PS. Here's an idea: How about splitting your commissions with the buyers 50/50? You being a lawyer an' all, may be able to work around the pesky fine print]
I was behind a lady at World Market the other day who was buying pink marzipan pigs for her 6 kids.
They tasted hers a couple years ago and now she is stuck with buying some for their stockings every Christmas.
She was buying herself a box of the pretty marzipan fruit candy.
The pigs were cute.
If I go to Amazon through your website and put some stuff in my cart, do I have to go back through your website when I actually purchase it?
I'm trying to support a few bloggers who I read regularly this way and I need to know how carefully I need to keep track of such things.
