Thats easysauce.
Veronica Cartwright. Great performance by her too.
Well, on Brown's campaign, I'm just waitin' to see the feminist outrage!
It's all so unfair. If this were a Republican!
All of the above?
I swear I saw every episode of Bonanza but I don't remember any Veronica Cartwright.
Interesting how the Party of Slavery, Segregation, and Jim Crow acts when someone goes off the plantation.

That's how Adam avoided service in the Civil War.
Please tell me it is more video from the O'Donnell archives. She was a morality champion 11+ years ago...remember when there were still a oublic morality issues...never mind no one would believe that time ever existed.
Does this re-level the tea kettle against Allred's bullshit law suit? Seems like it would. Maybe even tilt it ever so slightly against Brown.
What about all the whores in Surrey England?
100 dogging sites in a town of 2500 people?
You wouldn't even need to leave the town!
Although I couldn't stand her character as Lambert in Alien. Wimpy, whiney sniffling tears all the time.
Sorry not Surrey, Puttingham-know where I will be going on my next vaca.

Do you know how much email I'm getting telling me to write about that story?
The Brown camp gave another one of those non-apology apologies.

Oh yeah tell me about it…I’d have pulled the trigger on the flame thrower if I had been Parker. Oh course that would have ended the movie a little sooner and we’d have Ripley in the closet scene…*Fans self* “lucky star, lucky star, lucky, lucky star”
I had to Google that one, Ann. Oh, those naughty Brits and their naughty bits. I like the part about the local pub being named the Good Intent... Well, we all know what road is paved with good intentions, do we not?
Here's the link to the NY Times story if anyone else is curious:
Here’s the Pub, Church and Field for Public Sex
I am so glad that between the California and NY governors' races those blue-state sophisticates can show the hicks in fly-over land just how poltical civility is done. [\sarc]
What boggles my mind is that Whitman's numbers actually declined from the Nicky Diaz incident.
Whore is the right word. It has been properly used to describe politicians for quite some time. See for instance, P.J. O'Rourke's excellent "Parliament of Whores".
California is collapsing before our eyes and this is probably the most important gubernatorial election in some time, and this is what the media informs us about. A house keeper and some salty language. We are so well served by journalism now days. I now hold journalists somewhere well below carnival barkers and pimps. Do people really pay to get journalism degrees?
Oh, how I loved that movie! And Veronica Cartwright - my goodness. My other favorite role of hers - Mrs. Virgil I. Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.
"I wanted to meet Jackie!"
Jeez AJ youse guys from Philly never get anything right!
Veronica Cartwright married Hoss in that very special espisode where he met a preacher who cured him of being gay. But then she got run over by a runaway horse.
Obviously you were busy watching the freakin Partridge family.

That was just on the other night. In "Alien", Cartwright wanted to play a stronger character, but Ridley Scott wanted one of the 7 cast to be the "emotional channel" to the audience (he wanted the audience to feel scared and helpless)...and asked Cartwright to be that character. And she was superb. Her fear was raw, palpable.
I read an article on "Alien" done for it's 30th anniversary and it's lasting critical success, how well each career of it's 7 actors had gone after it (all did extremely well), and some details on the scenes. Scott was asked why the movie was so scary, what special effect scared the most - and said before you discussed the great special effects you had to remember that it was great acting that "sold" the moviegoers they ought to be scared shitless, and Veronica Cartwright did most of that. That Cartwright was originally cast as Ripley, but he decided to cast her in what he honestly though was the role that would emotionally connect the audience and make the movie work.
The article mentioned the amazing "chest-burst scene" and that the cameras focused on Cartwright. (Who knew the alien was going to come out of the chest but had no idea she was about to be blasted with blood from explosive squibs and pumps.) And that Cartwright was so freaked it went on for another minute or so of superb reaction, including vaulting backwards over a couch to get away from the John Hurt character and the bloody little monster.
And it was the first two part episode in Bonanza history. The second segment was the famous Brokeback Bonanza that was so controversal and ahead of it's time.
Bonus poem from Meade.
Those were the days. Eh?
Cedarford,
Did you see the interview where Ridley Scott admitted that the alien was a replicant? A Class 5 Full Roaming Vapor, at that. A real nasty one.
The three most dangerous things to be:
1. Engaged to one of the Cartwrights.
2. The fourth guy beaming down to the planet with Kirk, Bones and Spock.
3. Standing between Chuck Shumer and a camera.
The second segment was the famous Brokeback Bonanza that was so controversal and ahead of it's time.
In one of the new Futurama's, they show the exterior of the Wang ranch on Mars and just under the ranch's name sign, another reads "No Brokebacking"
Scott M - Sometimes I watch a movie and get bothered that I should know a character and my memory eludes me. "Lord of the Rings" - fuck! Who is that guy playing kindly Bilbo Baggins?? Wife humored my obsession....and was hardly impressed when I blurted out much later --"It's Ash! Ash from Alien!!"
Anywhooo, "Blade Runner's" replicants drew heavily from the synthetic man in Alien, Ash. Not the alien itself.
And here I thought they just drew heavily from Dick's "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep".

Before my time, but that might be because Veronica Cartwright was over playing roles on "Leave it to Beaver" and fulltime on the rival to Bonanza "Daniel Boone" 1964-1966.
(According to IMDB).
She and her sister Angela were very good and very busy child actresses in the late 50s through the 1960s.

And the risk to my soul, I must declare that I agree with C4 about "Alien".
"Mother and I are still co-lating the data-r" and "I respect it's purity..." Ash was soooooo kewl in that film.
Sure it's Flight Officer Ripley who is my "hero" but Ash was also a fave...
I read the novelization the Christmas before the movie came out, ...and when I got to the scene where the Alien bursts out of Kaine's chest, I put the book down and said, "This I MUST see...." I have never regretted that decision.
"Blade Runner" was equally kewl...
Mmmmmm. Michelle Pfiefer!!! I first mistook my wife for her the first time I saw her. Realized she wasn't, but asked if she was her sister. The rest is history.
Scott M,
Blade Runner borrows very little from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I think the story goes that the studios was trying to make a DADES movie, and instead took the BR script and sort of retrofitted it.
It has very little plot in common with DADES and none of PKD's existential-challenging philosophy.
Angela Cartwright was also little Cathy in Hitchcock's The Birds, one of my favorite Hitchcock films. Also, she was great in several episodes of X-Files, as an abductee. I thought she was great in Alien. I like her nervous, slightly hysterical personality.
wv: slymed. You cna't make this up.
NotAngela - Veronica. Sorry.
It is really amazing what child stars do later in life.
I believe that Miss Cartwright is one of the voices on the Simpsons.
And Nellie Olsen grew up to be a law professor in a large university in the Midwest.
Nancy Cartwright plays Lisa Simpson, Troop, not Veronica (no relation).
