If I recall correctly, Ann Richards, the day we booted her out of the Texas governors manse, had an approval rating in the mid 60s. That fiend Rove ran a dastardly positive campaign
I see one reason that needs expression here. Everybody loves Feingold and his occasional renegade vote, but they don't love seeing the USA being intentionally destroyed by Feingold's closest friend that Feingold promises to help finish us off. It is that simple.
The rumors of the Feingold's loss are over-rated. He will win. Dave Weigel who is not at WashPost anymore does not have intellect or raw polling analytics. He is a loser - a journolist man who plays dirty.
Heh, I can't vote for Johnson, but I contributed to his campaign... from central Indiana. It's amusing that these guys are on about amounts of spending in the campaign. If you're advertising shit, it won't matter how hard you push it, people just won't buy it. The alternative media are letting people in on what's shit.
Sure he is. He works for the Washington Post, which publishes Slate Magazine. He was sent there after it was revealed he was an active member of the secretive "Journolist," an unethical group of journalists using email and listserves to coordinate hit jobs on political figures they oppose.
Rather than fire the unethical Weigel, the Post hid him at Slate Magazine, where they thought nobody would notice that Slate is owned by the Washington Post.
Why Althouse would give the unethical and besmirched Weigel her prominent stage one can only wonder.
I know Feingold is expecting to lose. How do I "know"? I knew it when I heard a radio ad Thursday morning - cheesy "inspiring" music in the background as Russ tried to pull on our emotional heartstrings with how he is "our" Senator. It sounded very desperate, almost like a bad parody.
The rumors of the Feingold's loss are over-rated. He will win. Dave Weigel who is not at WashPost anymore does not have intellect or raw polling analytics AmericasPolitico is quite a puzzle. The posts are too idiotic for the literal meaning to be the intended one. But if they're parodies they fall oddly flat. Can there be some third level of postmodern meta-irony that I'm just not able to decode?
It is truly SHOCKING that these two have zero idea what is going on in Wisconsin and the rest of the country...and they "cover" this stuff for a living! On top of that...take a look at them....

My guess is a sort of Inverse Moby. If Democrats get too demoralized, Republicans may get cocky, and think they don't have to actually take the all important last step: voting. "Oh, I'm too busy at work today; and besides, it's in the bag." So America's Politico is trying to make sure the Republicans don't get complacent. He's really Sarah Palin.
I know, that makes little sense; but that puts it at about the same level as AP's posts.
I put this up in part because I didn't identify with the picture of Wisconsin. I wanted to see what you people would come up with. Weigel said there was a fear of foreigners. That didn't resonate for me.
I put this up in part because I didn't identify with the picture of Wisconsin. I wanted to see what you people would come up with. Weigel said there was a fear of foreigners. That didn't resonate for me.
Ain't you heard? Dusky furriners are tryin' to buy our 'lections!
"Weigel said there was a fear of foreigners. That didn't resonate for me."
Dave Weigel wants to say things that don't resonate with you that result in you putting his video on your blog (with, apparently, no comment).
I'm reminded of the old addage that there's no such thing as bad publicity. Weigel and the Washington Post only care whether or not you spell his name correctly.
Unethical journalists like Weigel will fade away when you (and other influential opinion makers) quit linking to them.
Giving unethical Journolists a voice on your popular website only serves to grow their audience and only expands their influence.
It seems wrong that you would reward proven unethical journolists by giving them your platform to spread their bile.
Dems everywhere have FDR, but Wisconsinites have "Fightin' Bob LaFollete", too. Senator Feingold has been milking that progressive udder for many a moon, but the milk has dried up. Bad times create radical populism, and "Fightin' Bobs"; this time it's Tea Partiers, and Senator Feingold is on the populist outs.
How many papers have endorsed Johnson? I was semi-surprised that the State Journal endorsed Feingold (I vaguely remember that the last time they did, they said it was the last time), and Johnson's hometown newspaper endorsed Feingold. And the Journal-Sentinel did too.
I am always baffled how little the GOP folks use their "gray cells".
The GOP need to watch Poirot played by David Suchet.
The bottom line: The GOP cannot win. The WI race is already in the bag with Feingold. The Press likes him. The academia likes him. The party likes him. Who cares if some tea party activists do not agree? He will win by 3-5%. I have done polling on key Senate seats for a few months. He is part of the 54. Just as he will win in WI, Reid will win in NV. And, yesterday, the president, the best we have had since JFK, got all of Chicago excited to send Alexi to DC.
The GOP is like Bret Favre who gets sacked because he does not see the free safety coming. Well, the free safety is all of the Democratic Party voters who are excited due to the biggest rally (take that Beck) in DC yesterday.
I am so happy at my luck. In two days, I will be a hero to the party and I will be invited to break the bread for 2012. Just think. I will be sitting next to Axelrod, Penn, and others. I, not you!
The GOP is finished. This is how the end looks like. You want an option. Well, vote for the winners (Democrats). You can then save yourself.
N.B.: Many have signed up for my web political therapy. Seats are limited.
Russ Feingold is the only statewide candidate to receive endorsements from all the major newspapers.
With the Wisconsin State Journal's and Appleton Post-Crescent's endorsements this morning, Russ Feingold acheived the impossible: He received the endorsements from all of the state's largest newspapers-- no small feat considering that half of the state's largest newspapers are somewhat conservative.
"He received the endorsements from all of the state's largest newspapers ..."
There are no large newspapers left. Only smaller ones.
Primarily because they endorsed douchebags like Russ Feingold - who with John McCain tried to strip you of your right to free speech. Only the Supreme Court was able to stop him. Until now.
Russ Feingold will be fired on Tuesday. And both Democrats and Republicans throughout America should pay attention.
New Ham You don't know anything about Wisconsin politics, but you did seem very coherent talking about lesbians on an old thread. Maybe stick to that ? At least you seemed passionate about it, which is always good.
The local paper did not endorse Tammy Baldwin, or Ron Kind - favoring Chad Lee and Mr. Kapanke instead. But it did favor Feingold over Johnson. The Journal-Sentinel went with Walker for Governor, but Feingold for Senator.
It's interesting to read the Editorial Pages in Wisconsin, as the people who write them sometimes seem to think.
Funny to me that Feingold's hometown paper (Janesville) endorses Johnson, and Johnson's hometown paper (Oshkosh) endorses Feingold! As with most politicians I think, the more you know about them, the more you regret it...
MM: I'm surprised at the lack of love shown Kind. I mean, I as a Libertarian type, dislike his big gov't ways, but otherwise he's been a pretty likable pol.
Ah-hahaha! Who are those two?! Are the Sandlot kids finally all grown up? Good Lord. You're killing me, Smalls.
But no. No, no, no. I cringe whenever people try to dissect the political environment of a region they know nothing about: British commentary on US elections, these two talking about Wisconsin, the national pundits of 2008 saying Idaho was shifting to the left because it elected Minnick. Really? Can these people even point to Idaho on a map? It's a fun bit of sophistry, akin to feminist literary critics finding all the phallic imagery in "Oil!" You can find anything in election results. They're the Rorschach tests of disaffected pundits. "In Arkansas I see...racism. In Nevada I see...latent racism." Tend to your own districts!
Ann... I have relatives that live in WI... what has happened there in the last year or so? Feingold must have lost something...was it his vote for health care? where are people in WI getting there news then if they are not reading newspapers? Is Talk-Radio strong up there? Who are people listening to the most? Who seems to get their ear? Is this more about Obama and not WI? Are people frightened about Obama? Maybe it is a referendum on him and not Feingold, per se? I just dont know... what do you think?

Thanks, AP. It's always interesting to hear the view from Minsk.
(the other kev)
Can't wait to read AP's posts starting Wednesday. I have a feeling he's gonna put Baghdad Bob to shame:
"There are no Republican Congressman in Washington!"
Ah to be in Wisconsin in Fall, drinking Russ Feingold's sweet sweet tears ...

Does Althouse realize how boring these guys are? BHTV has a X1.4 setting for a reason.
Also, they look a lot alike and that's not a good thing.

Man those two are so boring I had to hang it up. If I can't sleep tonight I may try it again as a cure for insomnia.

You'll never hear from AP again after Tuesday.

Ryan has the new tune for Badgers.
"Russ knows how to meet a payroll!! ".
***RUSS MEETS PAYROLLS***
This scores well in focus groups. Is it true? Suck Koch.
I can't believe anyone still isn't on to America's Politico. He's conducting an amusing long-term study to identify the irony-impaired.
He's sure to deny this, of course.
How many papers have endorsed Johnson? I was semi-surprised that the State Journal endorsed Feingold (I vaguely remember that the last time they did, they said it was the last time), and Johnson's hometown newspaper endorsed Feingold. And the Journal-Sentinel did too.
It's an interesting race.
Dave Weigel... was an active member of the "Journolist"
And because of that, I have zero interest in whatever Dave Weigel says.
I am always baffled how little the GOP folks use their "gray cells".

Here is a good roundup of the editorials.
I am thinking Chinese - seriously, AP cannot be American. Gray cells? Happy at his luck? Seriously? That is some retarded shit right there.
Russ Feingold is the only statewide candidate to receive endorsements from all the major newspapers.
Just proves what a complete disconnect exists between the people of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin media.
Yes there is a big disconnect in the media alright.

Well let me just start: get any scratch lately?
You don't know anything about Wisconsin politics, but you did seem very coherent talking about lesbians on an old thread.
ah yes you're on the same page with America's Politico that all the Democrats remain on the reservation. No defections, everything's fine.
Let's deal in facts, not the insane spewings of Ritmo/garage/etc...
RCP average has Johnson +7.7
The local paper did not endorse Tammy Baldwin, or Ron Kind - favoring Chad Lee and Mr. Kapanke instead. But it did favor Feingold over Johnson. The Journal-Sentinel went with Walker for Governor, but Feingold for Senator.

Newspaper endorsements are a relic of a bygone time, they have zero relevance today. I honestly don't know why they even bother anymore.

It's just liberals signaling other liberals. No relevance beyond that.

Yes.
Now put that in your pasta pot and noodle it.
If Dave Weigel and I were sharing a beer tonight, I'd tell him how much I love his passion.
If Dave Weigel and I were sharing a glass of wine tomorrow night, I'd tell him he talks to fill in air space.
If Dave Weigel and I became friends, I'd take him to the sea.
If Dave Weigel and I were walking down the street, I'd "shove him through a plate glass window."
Fucking shill.

Leftists endorsing leftists is neither interesting or surprising.
I finally watched the video. What talentless bores.
poor fat little weigs! his boys are going to get teafucked by the ratbaggers.
