"Photo Tampering Throughout History."

An impressive collection. (Via BBC.)

My favorite has to be the brutalized photo of Condi Rice, where they gave her snake-eyes. They made the irises V-shaped at the bottom -- not even close to round -- and the effect makes her look like something other than human.

And their excuse: They added a little light to part of her face, to compensate for cropping, or some such horse shit.

It's really emblematic of how she was treated by the MSM throughout the Bush years.

For a great many people, the truth is inconvenient.

The images in a human mind set the table for thoughts. The famous Apollo pic looking back from near the moon at the beautiful green and blue earth with white clouds set off a Global Environmental Movement. The top is the north and the bottom is the south, right? The map in our minds is always adding such context to our thoughts. Which way is north is the first question asked by a surveyor or a map reader. Then we can rotate the bearings from a fixed point. In Christianity, God's word serves as a fixed point so that we are able to find our way back home, like Apollo moon missions did

Althouse;
Can you predict, with a good degree of accuracy, which of your posts will draw few comments and which, besides the super obvious, will draw a lot of comments?

Can you please remind us when you're pimping your personal blog? I would rather not have to bleach my mind after reading something you've posted.

Would like to know who was snuffed from the Stalin photo, but then he had so many purged.

Suppose at this late date it's too much to hope the Time cover showing the newly elected president was a photo-shopped joke?

**sigh**

Lemondog ...The disappeared man from the Stalin photo was his most feared henchman, Beria.

The Dixie Chicks one irritates me since it's quite obvious that the "original" photograph was heavily photoshopped.

(Though the Filippa Hamilton cover is still one of the worse photoshop jobs ever.)

They also missed a few from the past. There's pretty good evidence several Pulitzer prize winning photographs were doctored and/or misrepresented.

Finally, what strikes me is how often the original photograph was better than the retouched one. For example, the one of the soldier gesturing and the economist Obama picture.

Thanks.

Beria claimed to have poisoned Stalin using rat poison. Stalin died in March 1953. Beria executed December 1953.

Thanks for the Wiki link.

What a sick, depraved, replusive lot they were.

From the article:

"September 2000: Hoping to illustrate its diverse enrollment, the University of Wisconsin at Madison doctored a photograph on a brochure cover by digitally inserting a black student in a crowd of white football fans. The original photograph of white fans was taken in 1993. The additional black student, senior Diallo Shabazz, was taken in 1994. University officials said that they spent the summer looking for pictures that would show the school's diversity -- but had no luck."
