At the Irony Café...

... you can search for new wrinkles of incongruity.

That was a poorly scripted and poorly acted "women are victim's" commercial spot for the evening news cycle. How stupid do Democrat political operatives think we are? Very, very stupid.

A useless quack device which cannot perform any other function than separating naive persons from their money. It’s a fake, a scam, a swindle, and a blatant fraud. Prove me wrong and take the million dollars.

Ann,

There is something screwy going on. maybe its just my browser, but suddenly alot of the text is massively enlarged.

Hillary! certainly sounded on script as she spanked the faux sexist "protester."

What rubbish.

If it's "irony" to a leftist, it's usually "hypocrisy" to everyone else.

Leftists think irony is a clever and cute kind of in-joke for sophisticated people like themselves. Everyone else sees it as a mechanism for reconciling a disturbing cognitive dissonance. Irony is the stepsister of denial and the second cousin of glibness.

When you see a leftist declaring that she sees irony, give her a cookie. She's confused and hurting.

Garage...At least he is a music lover. But he does sound boring unless he was a liberal first that got mugged by reality.

Maybe you should see someone about that swelling of your text. Does your health insurance cover that?

The lowly iron gets no respect.

What a ridiculous proposition, Ann. Sure, Hillary's reaction was theatrical and I conjecture that she did that to not sound serious. We all know how everybody was waiting to pounce on her to make herself the victim of sexism.

You think those guys with the signs would stay quiet all this time if it was all really staged? I am sure Halperin and his cohort would have offered them 15 minutes of fame in their gossipy muckraker.

Muckraking comes easy, it seems when it comes to talking about Hillary. Women supporting women, never easy with "not that woman" syndrome. what a shame.

"What a ridiculous proposition, Ann."

What proposition?

I don't mean to endorse the title of the clip, which is just an illustration for café purposes. If I could get the title off the embed, I would.

***

As for the format distortion some people are seeing... I don't know what is causing it, and can't see it myself. Any ideas? Something like that happened once before and I cannot remember what it was figured out to be.

Ann Althouse said...

I tried taking down the video from yesterday. Did that improve things?

AllenS said...

Yes, there was a change, but the problem persists. Here's what is appearing in the right hand column in red, which indicates a blog heading.

Don Surber recounts...

Something right before this post heading, or after the post heading would be my guess. And a guess is all it is.

AllenS said...

Everything after that is in red and in large heading type.

All looks normal here font wise.

That guy is either a plant or a nut. I honestly don't know anyone who sees Hillary as a housewife, NTATIWWT.

I expected a more witty response from her though. If it was staged, it's really lame. Who is the target of that? Nobody is saying that kind of stuff about Hillary anymore. She has some conservative respect for not going crazy apeshit, like the rest of the party did.

AllenS said...

YOU DID IT!!! YEAH!!!

And, I knew you could. What was the problem?

Ann Althouse said...

@AllenS I used the makeshift fix of limiting the number of posts on the front page.

AllenS said...

Oh, no! All the posts after 7:46 AM are missing.

Son of Brock Landers said...

This was a stunt by the radio show 'toucher and rich'. these guys also protested the protest of the Masters a few eyars back.

former law student said...

"Toucher and Rich" are apparently the farm team equivalent of Howard Stern and whats-his-name.

From the front page of the NY Times -- isn't it ironic that the supposedly quality-conscious Toyota company let so many people die, blaming sudden acceleration --that braking could not override -- on poorly-installed floor mats?

Sexism? Irony?

Would you believe I spent at least an hour on the Internet last night trying to decide whether I should replace my clothes iron with a high falutin Rowenta "steam generator."

Seriously, it's true. It has good user and Consumer Reports reviews. Any users out there?

No irony intended.

Trooper York said...

Dude, buy a steamer. It is way better than an iron. I use it in the store and a professional model cost about $150 and you will never scorch your shirts again.

Methadras said...

Who needs an iron now when the fancy new washers and dryers do the anti-wrinkle steaming for you. I have to get one of those soon. I still enjoy ironing though. Very calming thing to do.

Wince said...

Another reason why I come to Althouse: Expert Advice.

All hail, Trooper!

Any particular make/models you recommend?

The Crack Emcee said...

I think it's hilarious, the way all Hillary had to do was mention sexism and the crowd goes wild, like it's a slam-dunk argument for anything.

Sheeple.

Trooper York said...

We use the professional model Jiffy Steamer that has been great. But the personal steamer would be fine for household use.

We have used ours for about three years and have steamed literally thousands of garments and it is still going strong.

Trooper York said...

Oh, but the price has gone up a little since we bought it.

I blame Bush.

I thought it was staged when it first became news.

Just like all those fainting white coeds at Obama's events.

I'm reminded of why her campaign had so little traction with me.

I sense a theme here today, yet I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is.

Oh, well, whatever that theme, this link to a humorous site of beautiful people in beautiful dwellings captioned in a manner suggesting that they all are in fact completely miserable, has nothing to do whatsoever with the theme here today which completely eludes me.

Here is Andrew Breitbart speaking out against his kiddies being charged for tampering with Sen Landrieus' phones.

Doesn't he sound oh-so-brave? And oh-so-gay? I watched it and thought, "hunh could he be both a sourpuss AND gay? A Gay sourpuss?"

Well, some of the commenters at this political science web site arrived at the same conclusion - Breitbart sounds way gay!

Which wouldn't be a problem except his party is making Being Gay a huge fricking deal. so that's awkward!

Discuss!

KCFleming said...

"Breitbart sounds way gay! "

Strange, but you can always count on Democrats for gay jokes, race jokes, and humor based on women as sex objects.

And you can be sure they'll blame it on the mere existence of the right.

AlphaLiberal said...

It's not really a joke, it's an observation about a guy who has made a living off of tearing other people down and supporting a party that seeks to disenfranchise The Gays.

It says a lot that someone would be so self-hating. It's also funny as shit.

Oh, and sourpuss? Simple fact.

TMink said...

Wow, I am SO busted. All those tea parties I went to where we shouted "Disenfranchise the gays! Disenfranchise the gays."

I thought we could get away with it because there was no attention paid by the MSM.

But Alphaliberal had his sources there and found us out.

Yeah, right.

More fiction from AL.

AlphaLiberal said...

Oh, that's funny. He actually gets applause from his (presumably conservative) audience for saying “these decadent bastards are going down.”

They love that decadent going down idea!

Oh, Trey, I'm sorry. So the conservatives DON'T want to ban gay marriage? Come on!

And they DON'T want to allow employment discrimination on the basis of sexuality?
And they DON'T want to keep gays out of the military?
Etc, etc, etc.

I call BS!

KCFleming said...

"It's not really a joke, it's an observation ...a party that seeks to disenfranchise The Gays."

In which AL the ironic hipster proves my point.

Oh, it's not me saying "He's gay ha ha ha", it's me imgaining the anti-gay types saying it, which is soooo ha ha ha.
Get it?"

TMink said...

You said disenfranchise you loony. Words have meanings, use them, or continue to look like a fool.

Guy named Alpha Liberal says: "Breitbart sounds way gay!" and blames Conservatives for being homophobic.

At the Irony Cafe!

The Crack Emcee said...

So now it's not the gays but The Gays? I guess next time it'll be THE GAYS, and then THE GAYS!!!!! And then THE GAYS!!!!!

Call me when they're just people like the rest of us, will you?
