DVD — "A Touch of Evil" — screened as the sky behind the TV darkened to a tornadic yellow-green and 2 large bowls of popcorn were consumed. It's a wild movie, and here's my favorite scene:
My favorite thing in the movie is the figurine of a chipmunk on the table there. It made me think of the evil "woodland critters" from "South Park":

It's a good thing.
A touch of Evil is one of my all time favorites.
There is a lot of good dialog in that film.
It would be an open border today if the US enforced employment rules and the Mexican government cracked down on drugs.
lol Lem, and there is always "great dialogue" in Cliff Notes.
You do know that Welles and Dietrich had a fling several years before, yes?
"What does it matter what you say about people?"
Cliff Notes....
Use them once, and you will never see things exactly the same way.
Open borders sound great, if you're 10 years old, a useful idiot liberal, or a libertarian.
Meanwhile, I briefly summarize one of the major downsides of our loose borders in the first paragraph here. Make sure and click the first link at that page if you want more information; note that I have several hundred posts involving that government and their various actions inside the U.S. Most of that is completely off others' radar because the MSM constantly lies about this topic. And, if you want even more information that the MSM tries to mislead you about, read up on the group that Sonia used to be a member of. Loose borders translate into even more power for them, and that's not in our national interest.
On an unrelated note, here's a brief video of Howard Kurtz misleading his viewers.
Use them twice?
You begin to believe you know the essence of what the great authors of the world are trying to tell us...
Without reading them
Without hearing them
Bonus Points! You only cheated once. Before you went back the second time because you were "BUSY".
Also love that movie. Wow, oh wow on that long, opening shot.
If you are too busy to keep up with what we used to call, OMG I am cheating, 'Cliff's Notes'? Many of us can understand that.
We were there!
We were there...
Also love that movie. Wow, oh wow on that long, opening shot.
Robert Altman did one for The Player (1992)
I don't know if it was a putdown or an 'homage'; but they do mention it (A touch of Evil) during the shot.
Lem, it was an homage.

I love Orson Welles.
Thanks Althouse, I had to watch the entire Imaginationland trilogy. I'm going to be sleepy tomorrow(today!).
I was proud that my kid could show classmates the real South Park elementary school when they went through there in May. A lot of pictures were taken.
Actually, the only elementary school I know of in South Park is in Fairplay, and it is right next door to the middle school and high school. Not surprisingly, it doesn't look anything like it does on the show, but then again, there isn't really a town of South Park, and no town in South Park looks like that. Fairplay, the county seat, is the largest town in South Park (and used to be the largest in Park county, but probably has been overtaken by some almost Denver commuter towns on the other side of Kenosha pass). It is far rougher than the town on TV, showing its mining past. Indeed, there used to be a big dredge not far from town that had been used up through the 1040s or so. Now, most of the houses are either second homes, or lived in by people who commute over to Breckenridge.
Now that was a bunch of information no one needed.
Best three movie string ever by an actress:
Janet Leigh,
Touch of Evil
Psycho
Manchurian Candidate
So Bruce, which SP character best fits you?
The music in that movie will drive you insane.
"He was some kind of a man."
Has there ever been a more ambiguous epitaph?
One of my husband's favorite movies.
