"A career criminal busted for the gruesome murder of a Long Island motivational speaker offered a laughable confession: The suicidal victim begged to be killed. Kenneth Minor, 36, put forth the bizarre defense as cops hunted Wednesday for other suspects in the gruesome murder of Jeffrey Locker, found stabbed and strangled in his car near an East Harlem housing project.... [I]n the face of damning evidence tying him to the slaying, Minor [said] Locker was going broke and hired Minor to snuff him. '[Minor] made statements to the effect that the victim wanted himself killed, actually that he was looking for someone to help him die to collect insurance money,' Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said."
Key word: gruesome.

The things people do to get their own post on Althouse! Next time, just write a poem about a squirrel, fella!
Now that you can no longer hire a ho through Craigslist, expect murders like this to become more common.
Peter
He basically just admitted to premediated murder. This is about as good a defense as those guys who killed Matthew Shepard over drugs trying to make it a "gay" thing to get sympathy. It will backfire on him.
I wonder if the victim lived in a van down by the river...
Or, in the words of an older, wise Latina drawing upon the richness of her life, "Yo vivo en una camioneta por el río"
Amazing. Is this a NYC kind of thing? Broader than that?
Seriously, does anyone else remember the Central Park Jogger and how some people were saying she was into kink and wanted to get it on with a bunch of dudes?
Disgusting.
Sounds like the normal practice of Darwin's natural selection causing progress for mankind. That the victim nobly selected himself to die is the interesting part. Which brings to mind Obama's Cap and Trade scheme that nobly selects just the Americans to become bankrupt for energy taxes and die without their recently traded away Health Care System. But no one remembers asking for that when they asked for a Half-African President to end racial divisions.
I wonder if O will say that these cops acted stupidly in arresting Minor. His story makes perfect sense, and it's not like O needs to know the facts or anything in passing judgment on cops.
It's bad of me, I know, but the fact that the victim is a "motivational speaker" automatically lends some plausibility to the perpetrator's story, at least in my mind.
In a truly civilized world, this man would be executed within a matter of months. The killers of Bobby Greenlease were executed by the state of Missouri within 90 days of their crime in 1953.
Its amazing that our society has lost the will to remove the blight from our midst.
@Jim
That's because our society has lost the will to judge people about anything at any time. There's no shame, because if it's okay in your worldview, it's just as valid as mine.
/sarcasm on
How un-nuanced of you...
/sarcasm off
Well, Jim, if the Central Park Jogger had died, would you have advocated for those convicted of attacking her to be put to death quickly?
Heck, why not ask someone to murder you?
And how is that different from some doctor sticking a needle in someone and "assisting" a depressed patient to die?
Other than the life insurance part, of course.
Asking to be murdered so it looks like a murder seems like a rational thing to do, considering.
Standard black thug crime involving whore and two of her homies. Find vulnerable white guy. Induce him to go to private place. Homies rob him, then think torturing him to give up PIN number for ATM a real good idea. Then finish him off with strangling and multiple stabs to neck, chest. Being dumb black thugs, ensure you are photographed (whore and 1 accomplice) at several ATMs.
One moron thug invents a colorful story. "Wuffo, white MF begged us to kill him! Honest!"
Interestingly, victim was being sued for 371,000 by being sucked into famous jewish conman Lou Pearman's Ponzi scheme. (Pearlman fled to Indonesia and was trying to get a false passport to get to Israel..now serving 25 years. Victim got early "fake" profits from the Ponzi scheme).
But his lawyer said that matter was largely resolved and his client was happy.

Greetings:
Back in the Bronx of my youth, I always used the "I was just standing on the corner, cleaning my knife, when this guy ran up and jumped on it 27 times" confession.
